Whenever I see Jerry Lanning, I immediately think of that episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" that he guest-starred on, as some singer who was introducing a new dance called "the Twizzle."

You aren't alone, as that's how he was identified by someone in the comments of the video. He did look familiar to me, but I don't really know him that well (whenever I think of him, I think of poor Sherry Mathis).

After a long break I have restarted my Texas rewatch.  It was my favourite show when I was 10 years old so it has been interesting seeing it again after 40+ years. I’m on episode 54 and things are falling into place and the Corringtons did a good job setting up 4 interconnected families. I can see why Dawn Marshall, Clipper Curtis, Bart Walker and Princess Jasmine were written out fairly early.  It’s too bad Courtney Marshall, Samantha Walker and Terry Dekker did not last for the entire run. With the correct writing and direction they could have been strong female leads.

Tom Lisanti’s book is out now Texas fans!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DZ1NBXT6

Apparently it’s been selling quite well. I just ordered mine. Excited to dig in.

Here is an interview with Tom and Caryn Richman talking about Texas and other things.

Also, according to Tom’s instagram he’s next book will be about the 77-82 period of Another World, including Lovers and Friends and For Richer for Poorer.

Thank you!

I finished the interview. It was great to hear how much Caryn Richman enjoyed her time on Texas. I wish the interviewer would have talked less and let her tell more stories about her time in the show. Caryn seems absolutely lovely.

There is no kindle version YET. Tom tells me that a kindle version is ... coming but he's not sure when. Also this publisher is a small independent which is why the book is as costly as it is. It only went on sale, Amazon only, the early part of this past week & as of today it was selling well enough to be named by Amazon as special seller. (I'm sorry I can't think of the term.)

Edit to Add: This is how Amazon touts how well it's selling! The people in my group on FB who have their copies already are positively raving about it!

It is unfortunate that the writers eventually lost interest in Kin Shriner. The introduction of Jeb Hampton was well done and he had nice chemistry with Catherine Hickland (Dr. Courtney Marshall). Courtney was also out of that terrible story with grumpy Dr. Kevin Cooke and was interacting with the rest if her family.

I've ordered mine, too. Can't wait to read it! Texas was the first soap I completely fell in love with. I was only 7-9 years old when it was on. It will be fun to go back and relive a little bit of it.

    •     data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Janice Frame is Evan's mother. Janice & Mac were together. Janice was up to no good. Mitch was helping her. She was slowly, little by little, every day, POISONING Mac. She was almost successful. In St. Croix, Rachel & Janice began what was literally a physical fight. They fell into the resort swimming pool, continuing to fight each other. Somehow, I guess Janice had it on her, there was a knife in play but Rachel kept Janice from stabbing her & got it away from her & they continued to struggle until Rachel stabbed Janice, which was a death blow. Mitch did a 180 & helped Rachel get Mac to the hospital. He was so weakened by the poison he could not even stand unassisted. It took both of them together to walk him to the hospital but it did save his life.  The St. Croix remote was SO beautiful, but so dangerous & scary. Also action-packed.     data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Hooray! Maxim's back

    • I do not think I have ever agreed with Vee. Normally I do not read him, Ignore ya know. For some unknown reason I clicked to read. And I agree 1000%. Now, this is so odd that I need to go away for a bit.
    • Justine had a lot of hooey in it, but she was an actual woman, not a guy in drag. She was a doppelganger of Rachel, French, having had a past history with Carl, etc. Two of the more outrageous parts-Justine bricking alive Vicky into a wall & Justine grinding the gears driving a big rig.
    • Hehe, twi/x actually x, formerly Twitter. Typically I find 2 sources for "crazy fan rumors" - the wrong parts of FB and x. Oy.
    • Not to hijack the thread, but was that character Justine? I just found this interview online with Logan and see what you're talking about - wow!   http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat85.html
    • My bad….ill fix that  Fixed
    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.
