December 1979 Episodic cast shot. From left to right: Kim Landford , James Houghton , Claudia Lonow , Michele Lee , Don Murray , Steve Shaw , Justin...

Gosh, I love all the colors in this photo so much. KL aired exactly one episode in the 70s, but those first two seasons were 70s A-F! I think the only outfit I don't like is Diana's.

Re: Paige. I still haven't gotten to her arrival yet, but just based on when I look in on the later seasons on the FAST channel, I know I'm going to tire of her very quickly. I loved Nicollette on Desperate Housewives and absolutely adore Paper Dolls as a whole (especially her and Brenda V!), but just that snotty voice alone is going to drive me crazy. Maybe it's because she was rarely more than a secondary character on DH and PD was over and done so quickly but on Knots, she was front and center for soOoOoOoOoooo long.

Ironically, Paige doesn't bother me as much as she does others here. Was she ever among my favorite characters? No; and while I'm sure someone BTS loved her on-again/off-again relationship with Greg, I felt it made them both look foolish and juvenile. (Oh, how I wish Constance McCashin would've returned, if only as Laura's ghost, so she could slap Greg upside the head and ask him WTF was he doing with her, lol). But I'm never annoyed with Paige (or with NS) to the point of wishing she'd just disappear. If anything, I'd take more of her over Felicity Waterman or even Stacy Galina any day, lol.

Paige seems very polarizing but I get the sense people either loved her (and her with Greg) or hated her. I am very curious to get to that era and judge for myself. I know Devane critiqued the relationship in an interview a few years ago and said he found it juvenile or something.

He wasn't wrong, lol. It's one thing for Greg to resist pursuing a relationship with Paige for any number of reasons (the age difference, his devotion to Laura, his inability to be emotionally present for anyone) but there comes a point when Paige and Greg start to look like Sam and Diane without the physical comedy.

I think the show did a good job of writing for Nicolette's range after her first season, which went a long way.

I can see where people would dislike Paige or feel that she had ruined the vibes of earlier years. I probably should have as I'm sure Constance McCashin was let go in part for newer hires like Nicolette, but I thought she suited what the show had become more than many of the longstanding cast members, and I did not find her as draining as I found Karen, Val or Mac by that time.

I do think Greg/Paige became too much of the will they/won't they, but at heart Greg was always an immature character (Laura knew this, she just loved him anyway).

Beyond stretching that out too long, my main issue was the show refusing to let Greg be a bigger part of Meg's life.

And all 14 seasons are on Tubi... at least in the states.

Lovely. Wonder how long it'll last.

I just had to keep going, and am up to the start of Season Seven. Did they ever say exactly what Sheila Fisher's issue is? I don't want to give her an armchair diagnosis.

Roku Channel as well now! It's my preferred streamer between it, Tubi, and Plex, so I'm excited. Well, the ultimate excitement would be if they quit being dummies and just put it back on Prime.

The first season was completed during the summer of 1979 after filming the pilot in February. Ted Shackelford said he actually met Patrick, Larry, and Charlene on the KL set. When they got word that KL was going to be picked up as a mid-season replacement, he and Joan shot the remarriage episode of Dallas which was his first time on the Dallas set. If you notice he and Joan look a bit different in this appearance compared to the pilot/first season episodes. Ted's hair has been cut shorter on the Dallas episode and Joan looks like she has a bit more weight and a bit more tan.

I recall Richard making the quip that he planned on running for President in 1980. Speaking of Richard, he was all about keeping up with the Joneses, why did he let Laura drive around in that dented station wagon? Even Gary and Val had a nice car after just having moved there. Of course, Gary worked at the dealership with Sid and probably got a good deal, Sid could have done the same for Laura.

I'm sure Richard tried to make Laura drive a nicer, more expensive car. Laura, however, was practical almost to a fault. She likely told Richard she refused to drive such a vehicle and demanded he return it to the dealer "or else."

I think that was also supposed to be their initial "conflict" when Jacobs imagined it as a "No Down Payment" / "Scenes from a Marriage"-esque show; Richard was meant to be the status-seeker always wanting more with Laura as the more grounded and practical one, thus him feeling like she was holding him back.
