I wish Kerndall would do everyone a favor and shut up! She cant go one day without yapping about Annie. She really worked my nerves today

Good lord and now she's trying to interfere in Jack and Erica's lives. Hating on Carmen now? Kendall needs to get a LIFE

Loved Petey and Colby today. He looked really cute today. I think the hair is too dark though. I love their banter but dont want them to cross the line and become a couple. They are great where they are at now.

Loved that Kathy let Krystal hug her. I hope she opens up and tries to accept her

btw, I loved the way Annie was grilling Greenlee with her eyes

OMG - Kendall needs to STFU! She has gotten on my last nerve. It's one thing to obsess about hating Annie and getting Rylee together....but now she's moved on to trying to hook Carmen up with Adam or any single PV man just to get her away from Jack??? MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS FOR ONCE BITCH. Ugh!

I actually really enjoyed Ryan and the way he was dealing with Annie today - much more believable - and way easier to swallow than when he's an arrogant ass to his wife.

LOVED Petey Cortland vs. Adam Chandler today. Petey was looking really good today too!!!

I also think Pratt's stuff has started--or is in transition--I thought this Friday too and actuallyw as surprised his name wasn't on the credits--it felt different. I actually enjoyed today's ep--the Cathy story makes sense to me and so far has been well done (the fantasy sequence on Friday while corny was CLASSIC old school AMC whichalways had fantasy/dream sequences), the Petey/Colby stuff was really good, even the usual stuff (Annie, Kendall etc) seemed to be actually going somewhere for once with more believable reactions. Maybe I was just in a weird mood since no one else seemed to have liked it but...

I wasn't in a weird mood when I watched it and ITA that this is clearly a combination of Pratt and B&E. There has been more depth the past two episodes than B&E have given us in the past year.

The Pete/Colby/Adam scenes were classic AMC with character-based humor.

Kendall finally stopped just obsessing over Annie, Ryan & Greenlee and started caring about Erica again. It makes sense for her to see Carmen as a threat to Erica & Jack's happiness.

Annie even got some great lines about how Greenlee & Kendall treat her, for example: "Ryan, those two are obsessed with me. I am the bitch who took you away from them. I mean, they even insinuated that this baby isn't yours. That's how they look at me. How am I supposed to deal with that? I work with these people. I go to Vegas with them."

B&E were painting Annie as a one-sided psycho and I doubt that they would let her come out with such truths about Greenlee & Kendall. Ryan's attitude toward his wife has been kinder, too.

The Kathy story has been well done so far. Of course she has abandonment issues and a fear that her mother figure will leave again. I loved how Kathy pretended to accept Krystal but then ripped off the doll's head at the end. I can't wait to see where this is headed!

Ah, I'm glad you agree with me Steve--some McTavish issues aside, I think we largely share a common view of what works at AMC. I'm still not ready to be all accepting of Pratt but I have to say if this is his influence--and I don't see why it wouldn't be--then I'm optimistic. The balance of stories and dialogue just made a lot more sense--and yeah finally Annie actually got a lot out--stuff she shoulda said to Ryan months ago (ditto his reactions to her).

About Jack and Carmen--I've always liked Jack as a character but I didn't realize till today how boring he's been on AMC for a while now--it was great, even if it was minor, to see little scenes of him being kinda nervous asking Carmen out, etc.

I agree re Cathy (kinda rmeinds me of some things Bianca would do as a kid). I just hope they don't make it *too* "Bad Seed/demon child" but so far the balance seems right and makes sense (there's that term again--things on AMC making sense! Wow!). I also liked how they addressed the fact that Tad wasn't helping and he was adding to the problem by in a way wanting Cathy all to himself.

^^ Hey Eric. I liked Monday's episode, too.

...although I haven't watched AMC in a couple of years. So perhaps I'm not a good judge. As a result, still cannot get used to NuBabe.

Am I meant to hate Annie? Because I kind of liked her. Hell, I felt sorry for her. When she talked to Ryan of feeling like the outsider, of being ganged-up on, I was actually rooting for her. Greenlee and Kendall, on the other hand, bugged me in this episode with all their cutesy quips.

Ryan = jackass. So nothing's changed there. The boy still can't act his way out of a paper bag.

Um, TEAM Kate! KWAK was a major reason I tuned out of AMC in the first place, and seeing her sanctimoniously tell JR that she was wrong about him made me want to slap that baby-napping saint six ways to Sunday. Best part was seeing Kate twist the head off her KWAK doll. Especially with all the adults downstairs congratulating themselves on being such great role models.

OK, who is the actress who plays Carmen? She is so real and natural. Love her! Loved how she was totally thrown for a loop by Jack asking her to go on a date.

Petey is adorkable. I actually prefer his chem with Adam more than Amber (no, not that kind of chem). But I don't understand -- why didn't they show Palmer?

Carmen is natural and charming.

Palmer is still on the show but when he's on he's usually propped up in a chair like Opal. The actor was in poor health a while back, but rebounded and I suspect they just didn't want to call him in for one scene--i hope we see him with Petey (or even Opal and Petey) soon. The actor is nearly 89 years old....

    • I recall @Chris B asking about this but here is an interview Sheri Anderson did with SOU back in the fall of ‘89: Here is an article that I think is interesting, it is an interview with Shery Anderson, screenwriter of the ninth season THE WRITE STUFF: FALCON CREST’S SHERI ANDERSON: FROM DAYS TO NIGHTTIME By Richard Spencer Soap Opera Update, 1989 : At a time when the success of nighttime soaps is shaky, Sheri Anderson, former headwriter for DAYS OF OUR UVES, ANOTHER WORLD, GUIDING LIGHT and GENERAL HOSPITAL, makes the jump to the evening format with some new ideas to help strenthen the CBS California vineyard based soap opera FALCON CREST. "FALCON CREST is going to have a differnet tone that it never had before," headwriter Sheri Anderson expiains. "The people that I am working with are kind of an interesting mix. The executive producer, Joel Sumow, did the first years of MIAMI VICE and THE EQUALIZER, Bob Cochran, a Harvard MBA,and Cyrus Nowrasteh, who has done a number of features, are story editors. I am co-porducer, with a history in daytime, so we are a real different mix. We all kind of balance each other out in different ways. I am sort of the emotional side (coming from daytime) and they are more the gritty side." A lack of focus is what Sheri attributes to FALCON CREST's problems the last few seasons. "No one , seemed to knwo that the characters' motivations were. Pilar was a real good example. No one seemed to know what she wanted. This season it is clear that Pilar wants Lance. That is really her dream and goal tokeep Lance. She will do anything to do that. She will be making some sacrifices thís season that really jeopardize her relationship with Lance." While Pilar's character may be strongly in place, Maggie's is not. How will the show restructure in light of Maggie's drowning? " We are not trying to replace her, but we are adding another kind of strong heroine character. That character is Laruren Daniels. She's very earthy; married to a construction worker. Lauren. is the sister of Michael Sharp, Gregory Harrison's new character. "Michael is an extremely powerful adversary to Richard Channing. He will be more cynical than Richard and less emotionally motivated. For Michael it is all power and money. The audience will be more sympathetic toward Richard. He will be going through hell," Sheri reveáis with doom in her voice, "...Paying for his past sins " The complete opposite of Richard or Michael's intensity is the the new character of Charlíe St. James."Charlie is every woman's foolish choice," Sheri character sketches. "He's kind of indescribable; charismatic, totally unpredictable, charming, unnervtng. He's coming in as a love interest for Emma. He will be the first man to make Emma feel like a woman. She's really not victimized by him...she’s addicted to him. Charlie's presence will make her a little less flakey this season." But Emma is not the only one in store for major personality changes, also in the categroy is Frank. "We arebringing back somebody from his past," Sheri reveals "there will be a great secret that will come to ight." Speaking of characters from the past, are there any Sheri would like to return? "Everyone is fond of Ana-Alicia in her original role. At this point we don't have any plans to bring her back because we have some other character that are going to take the forefront." And if one thing is going to remain the same, it will be what Sheri recognizes as the theme of FALCON CREST "Quest for control of Falcon Crest. We have people trying to take control, and they are all taking it for different reasons. Some are emotioanl, some are revenge, but they each have a different eason for which they want Falcon Crest. And that is really the pivotal center. It is very earthy." Keeping the core of lite show intact is not the only thing nighttime shows have to do to stay interesting and acording to Sheri"I din't think night time shows have kept paces with changes in the viewing audience," Sheri answers by analyzing what exactly is primetime soaps* problem. ln datyime, you do over the years the shows stay on, but you are adapting to what people are accepting:faster-paced, or slower, or addíng more comedy, depending on the audience, and what they are buying. I don't think some of these shows in primetime have done that "We are trying to make the show as much episodio as it is continuing. We are cutting down the number of scenes in each act to get the audience more involved. But some of the shows, and this happens in daytime al so, don’t let the characters really grow," Sheri certainly made chracters develop during her daytime career, but especially on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, which is the source for her favourite stories of her careen ”When Víctor carne to Salem and revealed tha the was really Bo’s father, it caused such a ripple effect for Kim, Shane, Román, Bo, Hope, Caroline and Sean. I also liked bringing Kayla back for Patch.” Having written for Kristian Alfonso' s Hope (DAYS) and now Pilar on FC, Sheri distínguishes between the two characters. "Pilar is a woman, but Hope was growing up. Hope was more innocent and Pilar is not Pilar has an intelligent strength where Hope did all the wrong things for all the right reasons." Pilar wíll be the only one retuming from her family, while Angela Channing’s appearances will be limited (per Jane Wyman's contract). "But Richard will be taking a very strong role which is very similar to Angela Angelad presence will be felt in every epísode/ Sheri informs. A lot of people complained about the women of FALCON CREST being wishy-washy They certainly aren't this season Sheri emphasizes. "Lauren will be strong, especially after her brother Michael steais Richard’s children and places them with her, Frnak’s step daughter will be very devious, indicateive of Kathleen Turner in “Body Heat” And Gregory Harrison is fabulous," Sheri reports with joy. "He is so different from his character on TRAPPER JOHN, M.D He is very similar to Michael Douglas in the film 'Wall Street'. FALCON CREST viewers will find a much richer textrae, getting away from the glamour and really going to substance and style." Sheri concludes, "it will be a show to watch, We are trying to bring in a new audience, and at the same time, respect our past audience."
    • Well, if he's had a series of mini-strokes along the way (which, IIRC, he did), then that influences things. I can say, from my experience of having had two full-blown strokes, that recovery periods were very, very different, both in terms of difficulty and length of time.
    • Whhhhhhhhhhhattttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was everybody out this weekend.
    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
