When Nikki says, "What about Victor's Vasectomy?", as a response to Katherine's news of Sabrina's pregnancy, Katherine goes on to reply, "he had it quietly reversed some time ago". WTF? Did he have it reversed when Victoria was in a coma? When he met Sabrina? Is Nikki pregnant instead of fat and about to pop?

This is the stupidest covering for non-informed writing a$$es I have ever seen. What is up with the actors like Eric Breaden that they don't inform the stupid writers of the shows history when they write this stupid shyte to begin with. It is no wonder the audience for soaps is tuning out in droves. We watch this stuff for the long term storyline development and have a certain expectation of consistency and that the new writers will do their home work before jumping in. Why should we tune in if they care less about the history than we the audience do?

You're right...but it is better addressed this way than not at all, IMO.

The alternative would be for Victor NOT to have had it reversed, but (due to his brain damage/epilepsy) to have forgotten he had the snips. In that case, Sabrina would turn out to be a bad girl, pregnant by another man.

Another alternative would have been that Victor was laying a trap for her...so he was feigning love, etc,...to trap her.

But in the end, since they decided to get rid of her, this is a decent way of erasing the story and moving on with it.

I agree that this is lazy, stupid...but it is also the first time they have addressed the problem on air. So, in that spirit, I'm glad to get past this...and at least have this stupid plot mistake resolved.

How about never writing her being pregnant in the first place? What was the point of that? The last thing the Newmans needs is another baby and do the writers really think the fans want to see a pushing 70 yr old man pushing a baby carriage? It should have never been written in the first place.

Oh, I'm totally agreed.

But with this horrible mistake made, killing the baby, the mother, AND explaining why the swimmers could swim....that sort of takes care of the problem, no?

Think about Dr. Joshua Landers. Who? Exactly...six months from now, no one will remember Sabrina or the baby existed.

Can't believe anyone is complaining about this rewrite. It's the simplest explanation and actually makes the most sense. Or would you have preferred that Victor's mega sperm somehow beat the vasectomy and managed to swim its way into Sabrina?

I've decided that I like usenet posters Patricia/Cheri's interpretations of how this could have gone down. (They are at usenet, rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs).

The idea is that the vasectomy happened when Victor left to find the missing Adam (a story beat never mentioned again). This was right after Nicholas "died". We KNOW he was bereft at losing 'my boy'. So bereft that he took off looking for his other son. It wouldn't take much to convince me that...IN THAT GRIEF...he chose to have the reversal. Remember how he was out of contact with the family? That could be consistent with surgical recovery.

Now, why did he not tell Nikki? Because, while away, he saw that Youtube video of Chow and Nikki kissing. (Let it never be forgotten that Phyllis and Sharon planted that camera...so they are the ultimate causes of all the evil that followed! I have never seen either one feel a moment of guilt about that).

At that point, hating cuckholdery, Victor clammed up and stopped communicating with Nikki. He never resumed his relationship with her upon return. THUS HE NEVER GOT AROUND TO TELLING HER WHAT HE HAD DONE. The relationship no longer warranted it.

Now, would Victor take control of a situation and do what he wanted (like restore fertility) without ever asking his spouse? DAMN RIGHT HE WOULD. That kind of non-consultative control taking without asking others what they think/want is a CLASSIC Victor move.

Okay, so then the next logical question is: If he told Kay, why would Kay never have told Nikki? Now here I acknowledge more of a problem. But again, remember that by the time Victor got back, Nikki and Victor were estranged. They were SOON separated, and divorce followed not too long after. And, not too long after, they had new partners.

Why WOULD Kay tell Nikki her other friend's (Victor's) confidence? It would just rub salt in the wound of the estrangement. It was no longer relevant, quite frankly.

In my view, the ability to keep counsel like this makes Kay a better friend to BOTH of them. I have no problem with this at all.

Again, let us be clear...this is a twist THAT IS WELL WRITTEN BY usenet's CHERI AND PATRICIA :-) . But nothing in the (LAMER) on-screen writing is inconsistent with usenet's Patricia/Cheri's well written twist :-) .

Yes, but he was married to Nikki as the time. Surely he knows she would not be having anymore babies, and they were nowhere near divorcing at that point. Even when he was getting ready to sign the final divorce papers he was hoping for a reconciliation after Nikki grovelled at his feet, of course. No way you slice it, this was sloppy writing and why the show needs a few writers who know the history of the show. Although, I still don't understand why the actors did not say anything.

I agree on every word you say.

But (rationalizing...I KNOW this was a stupid mistake!)....in the depths of his grief over Nick, Victor (true to form) wasn't CARING about anyone else...including Nikki. "She's my wife, dammit, I raised her from trash, and if I want her to carry another heir for me she will, dammit, or I will hire someone who will!!"

So, I could buy it.

Like you, I do not understand why three different failsafes (A Bell in charge, all the original actors still playing the roles, AND Natalie Minardi Slater still on the writing staff) didn't stop this from happening. But, oh well.... I now have a rationalization that lets me live with this.

If I don't tolerate sloppy writing, I have to turn off the soaps...and I'm not ready to do that yet.

He cant exactly go "hey, writer, btw" when he gets his daily script and then have them chuck out months of story plans. Its the writers job to know these things.

Besides, what he really should be telling them is "Look, I'm old, shooting blanks, and cant get it up without viagra. I aint impregnating nobody!"
