It's funny you mention this, and I found randomly some info on it when looking up the The City writer Tita Bell (who was an actress on Happy Days). She apparantly was one of the main English writers for Bednaya Nastya (Poor ANastasia) a 120 episode RUssian telenovela that was one of the first co productions between RUssian and the US in 2003. the series apparantlyw as very good, very detailed, set in imperial Russia and INSANELY popular, all over the world not just in Russia--but nothing with English subtitles. Shame, now I wanna see it.

Ah I guess B&E musta brought her over from their rather large City writing crew and there they met Rauch.

It's interesting, Paul Rauch ALWAYS wanted to do a period soap. Originally the show tha tkinda became Texas was going to be a soap set in the antebellum era South, but P&G were too scared and wanted somethign closer to Dallas. With this Russian telenovela he seemed to kinda get his wish--imdb's page for it has tons of glowing reviews many that especially love the period detail (the actual story sounds way more interesting than any soaps Rauch has EPed or consulted on recently...)

Watching the TONS of clips on youtube (I guess even without English translations there's appeared quite an English fan community for Bednaya Nastya ) for a quickly done, 120 episode telenovela the production and look of the piece is stunning.

GL was GL during that time...and Joan Collins rocked the house as Alex...(I love ya Marj but you just arent Alex.) Why would MADD screw the [!@#$%^&*] up by hiring Conboy and Weston to [!@#$%^&*] it all up when the ratings were actually starting to improve?

The exwives club should be soap classic. Funny how different BMK and JC's Alex was from Marj's weak, hysterical over the top Alex.

I loved JC's cool confidence, you always knew Alex had another card up her sleave and would come out on top.

Some friends and I were going to start a drinking game, every time Alex, breather or hissed "brutha," we would take a shot, alas, Marj came on in time to stave off our growing alcholisim .

Not trying to be an ass, but I found some things wrong with your article.

Actually, Rauch had no choice but to fire Reinholdt, it was Harding LeMay and Reinholdt that were feuding, not Rauch and Reinholdt. LeMay and Reinholdt had gotten into numerous arguments over the direction of the Steve character during that time period, and LeMay had had it with Reinholdt's attitude and decided to kill Steve off.

Both of those actresses decided to leave on their own actually.

He handed in his resignation, I believe.

Well actually both were fired. Marj was fired right after the "Brandon is Amanda's father," stupidity, as Rauchie thought that both Alex and Amanda were the same character so go for someone younger. I had heard at the time that some breathing problems from Marj caused delays in taping and we know how MADD lurves her some sick employees, but that must be all bullshit as we havent heard anything since then about the problem. Bridget was written out.

I actually didnt mind them getting rid of Alex, as I can't stand Marj's Alex. Also, there was no story for Bridget,...I jus t wished they had kept her on recurring.

Maybe it'll take even more than two years
    • Irna wasn't involved with ATWT at the time of Neil's death, was she? I'm imagining a situation where right after his latest doctor's appointment, he's killed.
    • The Cruise of Deception was the first thing that came to mind when I mentioned that Brady might take after that side of the family
    • We all knew that TT is busy so if she's off screen for a bit except for phone calls and/or visits.. then it is what is. Ashley was nicely used as support... which the writers should have been doing since day 1 so that viewers could understand why exactly she's on the show LOL Chelsea/Madison.... seems too good to be true... we shall see. Shanice as a PT... if it means more airtime.. I'm good.
    • Yeah, he's a mobster with Vanessa while his wife cozies up to mobsters as the worst mayor in America.
    • He's too busy in Maryland with a younger blonde woman.

    • The rumor Zimmer writes about sounds like something Paul Rauch would have told Zimmer about Jacqueline Courtney as a way to discredit Courtney as Rauch loved to do that sort of thing. Zimmer probably just retroactively fit it into her story. Zimmer does not have good sense of time in her memoir. Who knows?!!? Zimmer strikes me as someone who always has to be competing with women.  Zimmer and 1986: If I had no context and someone told me that someone in the 1986 scenes would win four Emmys, I would immediately pick Denniston. Granted, I've only watched about a week's worth, but my word, Zimmer just fades into the background even when she's the main player in the storyline. There's no life in her performances. It feels that Zimmer is unhappy and that she's letting it impact her acting.
    • I'm dreading going into the ninth season; I've got to be mentally ready for it.

Does not help these seasons are damn near thirty episodes. Twenty-two should've been their cut-off.
    • True. I did enjoy the episodes surrounding Greg's faux death, too. @Liberty City Agreed, it started pretty slow, but once Jill falls off the cliff, I was more invested for some reason. Yes, I genuinely enjoyed the episodes surrounding Greg's fake death. I agree, it began quite slowly, but once Jill fell off the cliff, I became much more invested for some reason. I guess bc more of the cast was working together.
    • Shouldn't Laura talk to Kevin first before agreeing to her brother Martin moving in with them? Her house is like a hotel for people she never sees -- like Lucky, who she's unaware of his latest departure as a man who runs away from everything. Meanwhile, Lucky is busy giving away his cabin to Isaiah, who we've barely seen him with.
