It's so satisfying when you watch old episodes on Youtube and get an answer to things you've wondered about.

Like why George Verney left Miffield Hall to his nephew Gerald and not to Mark, whom we actually saw on screen with George a few years earlier. Or how it came to be that Matt's cousin Polly found him again, after years apart, just in time for his wedding to Dolly.

@I Am A Swede Yes, reading synopses is never enough compared to getting to see episodes. I'm always hoping something new from those crucial '70s years will pop up, or even the '80s. That is more of an anniversary gift than anything the current show is likely to offer.

Yes! Especially 1976 and 1977.  I've seen quite a bit of the other years from the 1970s, but very, very little of those two. Just the odd episode here and there.

For me, the perfect anniversary gift (apart from annihilating the Dingles :P) would be that they would resume releasing the 1970s on dvd.

I've just had a horrible thought....

Since Faith has terminal cancer, I sincerely hope that they're not planning to have her die in early October, so that the 50th anniversary episode will be her funeral, mirroring the first episode being the funeral of Jacob Sugden.

I think you're 100% right. If this was just an organic funeral I would be alright with it but we will likely have people in the village find out about Chas and Al screwing around (or whatever they did or did not do) leading to Al's murder.

A murder of a character literally no one cares about...happy 50th.

Wow, you went further with your depressing prediction than even I did....  :P

The sad part is that I can very well imagine that your scenario is what will happen..... It just shows what state this show is in at the moment, and how little trust one has in the showrunners.

O joy, Charity's pregnant....again.    You'd think she was old enough to have learned about contraceptives by now.

It's just what this show needs....another Dingle brat. Happy anniversary!   <_<

This must be the dullest year of Emmerdale tbh. I don’t see any hype for October! I don’t see any interesting storys.

That show seems so dead lately.

You speak no lies!

I've been watching a lot of old Emmerdale Farm episodes lately, from the 1970s and early 1980s, and it's like night and day. It was so bloody good back then. And now it's just a mess.....  :(
