I think Phil has enlisted Keanu’s help to bring Keble down and this will settle the score between them plus Keanu will get to be around his kids

Now they have to bring him back! I want it! We are losing Lola, Janine, Mick etc.

We need some great characters back.. Keanu was a great surprise. Now bring on Fatboy

Fatboy was an awful character, I hope they don't bring him back.

Wow wow wow Slow down there! At least he brought some light hearted humor to the show!
Id take him over a few other characters by now

Why was Dotty so confident that Dot's house was going to be left in her name? Is she just being entitled or was this promised to her at some point? The way she's asking is extremely weird for someone who was in and out of Dot's life and has plotted against her many times.

The whole thing was poorly written false drama. Having her smash Dot and Jim's wedding photo left an especially bad taste.

Can anyone summarize the Christmas episode?

Spoiler

It sounds like Linda and Mick reconciled pretty quickly before it all went wrong.

They did, yes. Much too rushed.

Alfie wanted to climb on the roof as Santa and put up a plastic sleigh and presents. Freddie held the ladder, but then left him alone to go get drunk at the Slaters (bizarre writing). The ladder fell, and Alfie was left stranded on the roof. Phil heard him, but left him there. When everyone else found out and got him down, he joined the family for dinner. Phil noticed the 30K missing from his safe, which Alfie and Kat tried to explain to him. Phil then got Kat to reveal that she and Alfie had kissed. Alfie tried to take the blame. Phil punched him and told Kat she had to make a choice.

Ben and Jay got a snow machine outside, and Jay proposed to Lola. Lola said no and went inside. She told Jay she didn't want him to marry her from pity over her cancer. Jay insisted he always wanted to marry her, that she was the one for him. Lola accepted the proposal.

Jada returned to Walford for Christmas. Shirley and Linda saw her. Shirley managed to get Mick and Janine to let them spend Christmas with the family in the Vic. Shirley started trying to drop hints to Janine about the photo she found of Janine at the bins. Jada felt guilty over what she did to Linda, and told Sharon. She and Sharon then went to the Vic to tell the Carters. Janine managed to lie her way out of it, and Sharon and Jada left. Shirley then showed her the photo, pointing out that Scarlett had kept it hidden. Janine again lied her way out, but after Scarlett and Linda talked and Scarlett realized how much Linda had suffered, she told Mick the truth about Janine driving the car the day of the accident and framing Linda. Linda attacked Janine before being pulled off her. Mick realized he had loved Linda all along, and blamed himself for all the pain she'd gone through over the years. Linda insisted it wasn't his fault. They shared a kiss and decided to reconcile.

Mick had an ugly confrontation with Janine, leading him to tell her to pack her bag, he was calling the cops. Instead Janine fled (when Scarlett tried to go with her, Janine told her they were through). Mick and Linda realized she had left, and chased after her in their car. When they got to Dover, they managed to block Janine. Mick pulled her out of her car. She lashed out at him, saying he deserved to get abused and everything he felt about himself was true. She then kicked him in the balls and hit him in the head with a rock.

She sped off again, with Linda jumping in the passenger seat. They end up driving off a cliff. Mick dives in to help them, saving Janine first as Linda asks. He then goes back in for Linda. Linda manages to get out of the car herself, and along with Janine, is left stricken, watching the waves. Linda screams Mick's name.

The episode didn't really work for me - there were some strengths, but it was too long, and not any kind of decent final wrapup for Mick or for Janine - but it may be more popular with the casual audience who haven't had to sit through a year of this dross.

Isn't Janine's last day tomorrow?

I can see giving Mick a big exit and I think it's kind of fitting someone as big as Janine could take him down, but I also don't see the use of her character's longevity being potentially squandered on his exit.

It's a lot of opera, but it's still a more compelling setpiece for me than various other much more forced disasters/shocks in recent years, like Dennis' totally unnecessary death or Mel's truly bizarre demise (not that I was shedding a tear for her).

Yes.

The main problem with EE of recent years is they so often go with what sounds iconic on paper, but poorly translates onscreen. Everything with Mick and Janine was exactly that. Not helped by the actors taking many, many breaks and the show accommodating this because everything has to be stalled out for Christmas.

They lean on the holiday climax too much these days. It both speeds up and drags story.

This also reminds me: Shane Richie has recently confirmed he was offered the role of the Doctor in the Doctor Who revival in the mid-2000s.
