One of my favorite moments of Sunday's episodes was when Jason was playing football. I sat there thinking why the hell

does Jason have his shirt on (flashback to Billy and Cane on the Y&R basketball court). And at the very moment that thought went through my mind he pulls off his short in semi slow motion. At least True Blood knows how to make it's audience happy. In season 1 Jason was so dumb it interfered with my ability to find him attractive, but this season I've learned to get over it. It's kind of hard to see the goodness in him that makes Tara love him though.

I loved Lafeyette's little speech about how he is a survivor first too. That spoke volumes about the character. I've seen people say that he is just the stereotypical funny gay character, but I don't think so at all. Layfeyette may not be a bad guy exactly, but he isn't the safe, sweet guy either.

Something about this character's stupidity gets me every time. It's kinda hot. I couldn't stop laughing on Sunday's episode, watching him on the bus singing those songs he didn't know the words to just to fit in.

I can see how Tara idolized him because he seems to be quite compassionate when he wants to be- i.e. Eddie. And when you get a glimpse of that side of him, he seems really sweet and harmless.

Lafayette is pretty calculating, but I think he'll fit in well as a vampire because he understands what it means to be in service, and he understands family. But one of the things I do find entertaining about him is how many guys like him I do know, but I wouldn't call him stereotypical. Especially not for television. I haven't seen his perspective air in an honest way- heart, brains, humor, sex appeal, etc. He isn't the comic relief of the show, and that's a nice change.

There is nothing stereotypical abou Lafayette. He's one of a kind. Gotta love him.

The actor who plays Jason is a powerhouse. I mean, it's not like you have a good actor only when he/she can cry on cue or can move you. It is hard to play dumb and still come off as sympathetic. I love him, he's a riot.

Sookie, on the other hand, is a mess. I can't root for her, although they made some improvements last sunday. I actually found her less judgemental and more human. She's in her element when Bill is mad at her because she's done something wrong driven by her heart.

Good point. You'd think Sookie should be the star. After all, the "Southern Vampire" series is often called the "Sookie Stackhouse novels". But on True Blood, Jason and Lafayette and Tara have all stolen the show. It is a true ensemble, and that is part of what I love. I hope, somehow, Jason reconnects with his decency. But I guess then there would be no drama.

Lafayette was surprisingly touching. Clinging to that crocheted cover for comfort. I wonder what that is.

It is clear he is still on the hook to Eric.

I was filled with dread (a good thing), wondering what Bill's young vamp would do to Hoyt. Hoyt seemed disappointed that Bill interrupted :).

I'm so glad Tara wised up about Maryann's place, but I wonder if there won't be dire consequences for her. And what is the deal with that pig??

I think the pig was Carl. But yeah, that was too strange.

I was cheering on the inside when Lafayette was set free; and I'm certain I don't want him to become a vampire. I'm ready for him to interact more with the rest of the cast. Particularly Tara. Who I was happy to see wising up to her situation as well; and while I was an Eggs fan, I'm not anymore. He just seems dumb and not in the charming way.

Favorite scene had to be Eddie in bed with Jason. I couldn't stop laughing and the actor who plays Eddie is really entertaining for me. I hope we get to see more of him, even in ghost form.

In retrospect, I also appreciate how conscious this show is of its fandom...and how it plays with that.

For example, Eric's hair changed between seasons. So the writers incorporated that into the show (with Eric's first scenes in foils).

So, too, I notice that everything from Jason's "Bon Temps Football" t-shirt to the red Fangtasia t-shirt Sookie wore last night is available for purchase on HBO.com. That's vaguely cool...in the sense that the show is so blatantly playing with the side marketing. It is produce placement and brand extension...but it is done unapologetically.

One has a sense that the writers are winking with us through a lot of this, and I enjoy that.

"Sarah doesn't just whip out her pudding for anybody."

I LOL at that too. Jason is so going to hook up.

I love Jessica! Sure it helps that she's hot, but I like seeing her as the newbie vampire, who's learning how to deal with being one, and is making all these mistakes, and being insecure about her fangs.

When Sam asked Daphne to join him in the water, I was so hoping to see Ashley Jones nude. Oh well, I was a bit disappointed when she didn't. LOL

Okay, so Lafayette is not a vampire? How is he alive then after Bill and Pam fed on him? Speaking of Pam, she's kinda sexy.

AJ said she wouldnt go nude. The show agreed to it. (I think thats what i read...)

They didnt drain his blood, they just fed off him. Like how whats his name feeds of Sookie without killing her.

Come on, Ashley, it's HBO! Just go nude. :)

Ah okay. When I saw Eric/Pam and the other vampire fed on him, I thought for sure he was a goner or being converted to a vamp.

Leave it to Sookie to jump out of the car in the middle of nowhere because Bill had not been <gasp> kind with his words -- it doesn't matter that she was wrong all along. That girl is so stupid. Anyway, I liked her sparring with Eric (although I'd much rather see him with Lafayette) and the fact that she used her powers to help Lafayette.

Toups, you're right, Pam is sexy and she's got such charisma. I've loved her since Season 1, when she was the only vampire wearing sun glasses (duh?).

I'm so glad that Lafayette is not a vampire... yet.

    • I am truly at a loss for words about today's episode. I have no clue what they are trying to do or where this Luna story is going. I was literally dumbfounded.
    • Elizabeth Hendrickson started directing at Y&R.
    • I'm inclined to agree with you and I loved her at Santa Barbara.
    • I haven't watched DAYS in years, so I have some questions for anyone who can answer them. Is the show actually acknowledging that Jeremy abused Stephanie?  The things he did to her back in 2007 were reprehensible.  I wasn't watching too much when that was happening, but I seem to remember that the show (at the time) didn't outright label him an abusive partner and instead acted like he was just badly behaved or something like that.  Could someone who was watching back then tell me how they remember it?
    • It also strangely happened while the story was airing. You had a gothic and spooky story that because it got eyeballs ended up being dragged out and turned into camp. Marlena starts talking to herself constantly with that voice, she’s strapped to the bed for a never ending exorcism, would almost die multiple times during the process, and then everyone would just leave her there with Caroline Brady sitting next to her holding a rosary. Reilly had the show so segregated that when Carrie found out what was happening in practically her next scene she was like I’m praying for Marlena. Now what are we going to do about Sami? I don’t know about anyone else, but I would probably stop my storyline for at least a couple of episodes and have to go see my stepmother that had a huge part in raising me floating around with those eyes in her beautiful penthouse. It was just so stupid, and when it started I didn’t necessarily agree with the story being told, but at least it was taken seriously.
    • Yes, I feel the same way. I get the reasoning behind hiring him. He was playing a very similar character on RH, and they were in a pinch. I also found his accent very distracting. But then, Bev also didn't sound like she was from Illinois, and it didn't bother me a bit. That said, I've always had a great deal of sympathy for the situation he was in. It's never easy to take over from someone popular with fans, and how the TPTB were always insisting he was coming back eventually was another issue. Hearing he was going through it in his personal life on top of that makes me even more sympathetic. I found the article where it mentioned he had worked on both soaps at the same time. This was written a while after he left the show. Interesting that he was open to returning and that fans were asking him about when Alan was going to get out of jail. To this day, I don't understand why they kept Alan off the canvas as long as they did. He should have been there in the thick of Roger's return (without the dumb attempt to kill him), especially while he was married to Alex. To me, Raines was lacking in a lot of qualities needed for Alan. I think he would have been a better Mike Bauer.  They took five years to bring Alan back, I think they could have found someone better. I don't think anyone is irreplaceable. Anyone who took over the role would have been different from Bernau. But somewhere out there was an actor who would have had the suaveness, intensity, and charm that IMO the character needed.

    • I did feel like JFP's Y&R was decent. Of all the recent HW/EP swaps, her period was very safe but watchable. Nothing spectacular but better than what we have now.
    • I don’t watch B&B but I did know about Heather and forgot her. I really don’t know anything about Lawrence. Do people like his scripts?   Yes she did! And I know she did double duty too, even if Bell slowly phased Julia out while she wrote for the show.
    • Well, you are the most ill-informed, condescending person on this board so I am glad you enjoy mocking me? Or whatever you are trying to do lol.  You literally can't comprehend the simplest things about the show and don't watch, but are literally shaming me for being a women?

One other side note, because now I've re-read 1993-1994.  I think that I found a ret-con issue. In 1993 after John finds out that Stefano is Kristen's father. It is not like I am claiming to have found nuclear fission, clearly mistakes happen.  But, I found this to be amusing. In 1993, Stefano becomes deadly ill, so Kristen tells John that she needs to be by her father's side, but not to worry about the deadly disease, because she's adopted.  Given, that I've always thought of Kristen as being adopted, until the more recent cannon that she is Stefano's biological child, it is interesting that in 1993, the week before Tony comes to town to announce that he is Kristen's fiancée.  Kristen is saying that she can't give blood to her dying father, because she was adopted.  So, the current reverse in cannon, neglects that detail. It is so funny to read this and then see Kristen and Tony in the crypt this week, 32 years later.  That's more than half the show's history at this point, amazing.
