i was talking more about the weak male actors. as for who... well..

John Brotherton (Jared Banks) is awful. What was that he was doing in charlies room? It made me lmfao it was sooo bad. I get not everyone is a great dramatic actor, but he is pretty much at the center of huge storylines and has a lot of emotional things, and thats when it becomes an issue.

Brandon Buddy (Cole Thornhart) and Jason Tam (Markko Rivera) evoke no emotion. They read lines and thats it.

David Chisum (Miles Laurence) could be great if they gave him something to do.

David Fumero (Cristian Vega) just is so blah. He is actually pretty good when he steps it up.. but when was the last time he did such?

John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex Balsom), whom i love, is limited in his acting. However he does have enough to pull off emotional scenes given who he is acting oppiste from. Good, but far from great.

Chris Stack (Michael McBain) i have not seen enough of, but he does come off as an extra they gave lines to, however thats how his char is pretty much written so again i cant really judge.

Then there is Austin Williams (Shane Morasco) & Eddie Alderson (Matthew Buchanan), who im not going to bash but even as far as kid actors go are less than appealing.

However, the 'older' guys on the show are pretty great.

And almost every single woman on the show has amazing talent.

What an excellent, well thought out post. I enjoyed the show on one level last week, and your observations and comments will allow me to enjoy it on another level this week! Thanks (for the Nat observations, particularly)! :)

Am I the only one who likes Justus Bolding? That poor girl!

How about we make a deal? Let's give her a chance over the next couple of months. Her scenes with Tina will either make or break her! So far, she has not been given any real material with which to put her stamp on Sarah. Deal? ;)

I LOVE Chris Stack. I thought his work during the hostage story was exemplary. I really felt his pain as he watched his family fall apart before his very eyes. He's also good in the little scenes and the scenes that aren't centered around him.

Not too big a fan of Kamar de los Reyes, though. He acts like a porn actor in a porno made for ladies. It screams gay to me, even though I think he's married. LOL

I love Justis Bolding. She's very natural and I loved the scenes in Napa where she was drunk at the hotel with Nash. She didn't overplay it, there was an intimacy there in her scenes. I do think she'll suffer if she's stuck with Fumero as her main scene partner, that's just not fair to any young ingenue trying to make it in daytime.

Chris Stack blew me away when he leapt into the middle of the Marcie on the run storyline, and the transition, at least for me, was pretty seamless. He sold me on loving Marcie to the depths of his soul and willing to do nearly anything to save her from her spiral out of control. He has a quiet dignity. And I find him more believable as a doctor than mumbling Nathaniel Marston.

My issue with Kamar is that he really seems to be concentrating on how he physically looks in his scenes, like he wants to look strong and powerful and he puts on whatever face he thinks that is. He's distracted from the material itself because he wants to look a certain way on screen. Can we say that Bree Williamson was the same way in any of her scenes this week? Of course not. She was a complete mess, but we were right there with her because she was FEELING it. Kamar needs to refocus, I think he has it in him to do better.

Jason Tam is stuck because he's a disconnected character, but I find him talented. He's "the friend". But he's shown himself to be loyal and headstrong and somewhat impulsive and I think he does well with comedy. Brandon Buddy, I haven't really been impressed with. I think he has the same problem as Kamar.

Eh, I respectfully disagree with most of the list. We've already established that I'm a JB fan, so I won't go into that. Brandon Buddy, I agree, is very wooden most of the time. He's improved since I first saw him about a year and a half ago. Jason Tam is good, IMO, and I think that when he's more experienced, if he's still around, he might be able to surprise some folks. David Chisum's been left out in the cold for so long now, I forgot how I even felt about him. I thought Miles was boring except for his scenes with Roxy. David Fumero, I agree with. He has the potential but rarely puts it to good use. He's not bad, though. He gets the job done but never does anything spectacular. JPL, I love, I think he's an awesome comedic actor and this past week, he's shown that he can rock the dramatic stuff too. I've been a Chris Stack fan since day one. He slipped so easily into the role of Michael for me, I sometimes forget all about Marston (he'll always be Al to me anyway). As for the kids, I think they do well considering that they're both very young.

I have to say the dialogue for Jared when he was at Nash's bedside reeked. I was totally shocked. All this talk about what a gentleman Nash was????? Seriously? Not to speak ill of the dead, but Nash came to Llanview pretty much on the run from Claudia Reston's dad, because he'd scammed her, then dumped her, which sent her into rehab or a mental institution or something. Then when Jessica was trying to be integrated with Tess, Nash did everything in his power to interfere. He played with Jessica's mental health, which doesn't meet my criteria for a gentleman.

I was also surprised that the final scene that day was Nash dying and then they shifted directly to Jared saying "Stay tuned for Previews from the next One Life to Live" :o Thought that was pretty crass.

I love David Chisum and think he is perhaps one of the most capable actors on the show. At least I did think that at one time, but like All My Shadows, I don't remember exactly why. But I formed that opinion and I am sticking to it.

    • I would submit to you that she doesn't need any more excuses, not when it comes to Bill. But, I am one fan who thinks Bill isn't done with Dani & also the reverse is so. Those two, IMO, are locked in some kind of toxic but  irresistible vortex. I'm not saying we're going to have scifi. Just the personality kind of vortex. OH!!! Thanks. I don't do Y&R. But I totally understand anger even frustration with Josh.
    • Any chance you could share this episode to the vault? Please.
    • @asafi @yrfan1983 Jennifer Brooks death was September 1977. A recap of it is here
    • a reference to a mystery character on Y&R named "Aristotle Dumas" who has been discussed a zillion times in the past few months but never seen.  Not mad at the character.  Mad at Y&R writer Griffith for the annoyance. Mentioned to point out the annoyances of Y&R in contrast to enthusiasm for BTG.
    • It also seemed like she wanted an excuse to go over Bill's and yell at him.
    • The number 1 rated soap, and no one seems to like it. I don’t remember the last episode I watched. The Damian story was the only thing keeping me watching but I just gave up on the show altogether again.
    • Not all friends are alike though and there should be a counterbalance in some friendships on soaps. Dani has already been all over the place enough and doesn't need an unstable friend.
    • I was finally warming up to Eva but today, that girl, what in the world was she thinking, crawling back to Mama saying she was under a lot of pressure. Pitiful. And, just what did she get for her trouble? Rebuffed, totally. Anastasia, she can go kick rocks. Who needs her & what was she wearing? I'm surprised to learn that some people did not have an appreciation of Dani & then Anita, right after, at Theodore's. I thought they were both right on the money & also sharp, witty.  Ted, of course, is playing at being Impervious Man, which is very funny & he takes it one step further, making all these declarations of his intent to woo Nicole back & win her trust again. I find myself laughing so hard at him & at how he has totally misread his circumstances. He has zero chance but wow he has so much confidence. This I find to be so humorous, possibly unintentionally so.  Edit to add: What does Alexander Dumas have to do with anything? And why are people seeming to be mad at him?
    • They feel like a bad Three's Company parody.
