Lynn Marie Latham, Megan McTavish, Ellen Weston and David Kriezman are the new Bell, Nixon, Marland's etc.

Such talent those people have! :P

Here's my picks: Agnes Nixon, William J. Bell, Douglas Marland, Claire Labine, Kay Alden, Wisner Washam, Irna Phillips, and Nancy Curlee. I would put Ron Carlivati on that list, but he needs more time to prove himself IMO.

Chris B, you are such a smart-ass I LOVE IT! I kind of miss David Kreizman's letters to the Guiding Light fans. He'll bring up Irna Phillips, the longeivty of Guiding Light, and the brotherhood of man. But when you watch the show, it's like watching Hannah Montana smoking crack with aluminum foil.

Since no-one has mentioned him yet, I'm going to say James E. Reilly. He invented a new approach to doing soaps during the 90s at DAYS. He absolutely revitalized that show and it's the last time a) any soap's ratings have gone consistently UP, and B) a soap was part of mainstream Americana. I think JER definitely deserves mention.

I love you the way you think.:lol:

DAYS from 1993-1997 is my all time favorite era. It was soap opera perfection. If I owned a soap, I would set up my stories the way Jim did for those 5 years of brilliance. :)

Has anyone mentioned the great Henry Slesar? Henry wrote The Edge Of Night for many years and wrote what was one of the most logical and well written soaps, maybe the most, to ever hit the screen.

According to wikipedia

supposedly at one time 50% of its audience was male, a feat never accomplished again by any soap.

    • I'm not sure how I felt about it, but I do kind of like that it felt like the show telling us this concludes the first chapter of the series. Could be interesting if they only do it for big aftermath episodes. The biggest mistake with Martin is that it's almost hard to buy his anger because we've gotten no strong scenes with him and his parents. They've all been with Anita/Vernon. I can't even remember him ever even saying one word to Nicole, even in passing.
    •   Thank you! Agreed on both posts. And the comments about Mike Manning are nonsense.
    • I haven't watched yet, but did they explain the current ownership of The Bistro?  Because when RonC was writing, wasn't he applying for work with Sophia?
    • I think Brandon has gotten better in normal day to day scenes, but he’s very over the top when the character is meant to be angry or agitated. I did laugh when she started yelling at Leslie and then when he started to throw all those damn books, lol. He needs an acting coach to work out some of these kinks.
    • I've never found him as bad as some. I think he's always shined in scenes with Vernon, who should be his father. I also think he has great chemistry with Kat and Dani which I hope they tap into more over time. Dani/Martin feel like such a fun and believable Auntie/Nephew relationship.
    • I'm fighting for my life on another board for my husband Brandon and I'll do it here too lmao
    • I don't expect Lois to be the same person she was 25 years ago, but she's definitely lost a lot of what made Lois unique.  It's clear the show doesn't know how to write for her, and the sole purpose of Lois is to hide this Gio secret.  It's a shame she doesn't interact with more of the canvas.  It's a waste of Rena's talents. I like Brook Kerr most of the time.  She can be hit or miss.  I totally get what you are saying about her line readings too.  I honestly think the character really suffers being stuck in the Curtis pairing.  She's much better than Tanisha Harper's Jordan lol.
    • Friday and yesterday's episode is what daytime television should be. The other shows airing could take a page from yesterday's show.  I loved the rage, hurt and anger Nicole unleashed on Ted.  Daphnee should be up for an Emmy nom for these scenes.  It broke my heart to see how Dana had locked Eva out.  I do feel sorry for Eva.    I am still bumfuzzled as to why Leslie/Dana went to the DuPree's and asked them to accept Kat UNLESS Eva is really Kat's twin (and really Nicole and Ted's daughter that maybe they though they lost or an embryo Dana/Leslie stole??) I loved how Anita and Vernon both shot her down.    Ohhh and let me just say Friday and yesterday was the MOST fire I have seen Martin have since the show started.  Maybe Brandon Clayborn is coming into his own with the role finally.
