yet it is for gay characters. hints the outrage over them not kissing.

Again, where is the support from the gay community for diversity in the soaps or racism in its own community? It is really unfortunate that issues affecting other marginalized groups are dismissed.

Cause ALL of Luke & Noah's problems will be solved if they tongue each other down.

Darn it, I choked on my drink when I read this  So true :P

Ok my frustration with all of this is that the Nuke fans AND all the media are treating this like it's the first time a gay character or pairing has got the shaft. Seriously, do some research before writing articles. Because apparently I missed ALL the scenes where Bianca slept her way through town, making out with people right and left. Or when Lucas on GH kissed the whole football team.

racism is alive and well in the queer community.

just look at gay soap queer as folk.

the same thing was done to a black gay character kissing a white gay character. the camera panned away when they kissed. where was the outcry for that?

yet when WHITE noah and WHITE luke don't kiss on atwt, it's homophobic and a campaign has to begin. talk about bias!

WORD BALLER! Where was the outcry when Bianca was turned into an asexual character on AMC?

The thing that pisses me off is the rabid Nuke fanbases asking for equality in the affection department. However, if they cared for the actual soap opera genre as whole, instead of their boring and horribly written couple (which is beside the point), they'd know that Luke and Noah haven't been written as couple with equality from the start. All the other "couples" on the show had a build-up to their relationship and somewhat of a gradual progression towards their relationship. Luke and Noah had neither, why weren't fans complaining that Luke "fell" in love with Noah like a day after meeting him? The were put together rather quickly, there was no real test of any chemistry existing between the two actors. Why can't some accept that a good part of the audience doesn't care for Luke and Noah, because they were a contrived pairing who the writer's decided to make as the "token gay relationship" on the show?

The Nuke fans are asking for a "realistic portrayal" of their couple, especially in regards to their physical relationship. But tell me, was it realistic that Luke fell for Noah 5 minutes after meeting him? Was it realistic that there was no significant build-up to their relationship? Hell no!

If I were to be protesting anything on gay relationships on soaps, I'd be protesting how horribly written and unrealistic they're written in general, not because they're not seen kissing or having sex, like the equally horribly written heterosexual couples on the show. I want a realistic portrayal of a gay relationship on a US soap more than anymore, but ATWT botched this story from the beginning and I will never forgive them for it or accept "Nuke" as a couple to care about.

Simply put, they writers made me not care for Nuke and I see ZERO chemistry between Hansis and Simbermann, and as I've stated many times, Silbermann is terribly stiff and wooden actor.

Double WORD!!! If Nuke fans want to pimp their couple--fine. As far as I'm concerned, Van and Jake are about as chemistry free as the average ATWT teen couple from the past ten years, which by my count includes hetero couplings like Bryant/Jen, Aaron/Lucy and Chris/Abigail.

Have not posted in a while, but some of the stuff in this thread has me kind of fuming. Like all of the comments that Nuke fans only care about what happens to Nuke and could careless about the rest of the show, Well that is the biggest load of [!@#$%^&*] I have ever seen. Seeing as Nuke fans talk more about the whole show during it, then any site on the web, they have a live thread everyday that has about 500 posts in it, even on non-Nuke days, and they are always discussing what could be done to make certain storylines better in those threads. Also Most Nuke fans have taken place in any campaign for the actors that have left, so again this notion that Nuke fans only care about Nuke is a bunch of [!@#$%^&*].

Just because fans care enough about how there couple gets treated does not mean they don't care about the rest of the show.

One of the main reasons why Nuke fans don't post on boards like this and other's is because of comments like that, and the horrid bashing of the actors and the boring stuff, I mean why should they part take on other boards if that is all they get. At first lots of Nuke fans wanted to discuss them and other stuff on the show on the boards, but then they got bashed daily for liking the couple, so most of them stopped, I can't really blame them. Bad enough that Nuke fans have to deal with Bigots on main boards, but then they have to deal with people and there actor bashing posts and they are so boring crap. I mean they might not be the most interesting couple ever, but some people act like they are the worst thing to ever be on a soap, and they post like that to.

Proof please (I never watched it). And if it did happen, why didn't you contact the NAACP?

There are enough people on this earth to deal with every cause possible. That doesn't make any one cause more worthy than another. If you passions lie in taking Queer as Folk to task, do it, but you're a little late.

And yet there was no backlash for the lack of minorities in daytime for eons. Yet we all have to get behind poor little luke/noah for not kissing because it's "homophobic". BARF!

these people leading this boycott/letter writing need to get lives. to protest 2 fictional characters for not kissing and calling it homophobic is pathetic to say the least.

b&b never has racial minorities yet it's set in LA of all places! the minority characters have never lasted on the soap. heck the original non-canadian tvguide.com reported that mykel shannon jenkins would be the first bonafide black male romantic lead on b&b. yet weeks later he's relegated to recurring status. where's the outcry of racism for that? he doesn't even have a relationship unlike luke/noah, so where's the racism boycott there? there's none, because the white gay male audience of cbs will merely dismiss that as "bad writing on brad bell's part" but not racism. while luke/noiah not kissin is automatically homophobic.

and so what if the internet is different now than in the 90s. there were soap fans who were just as rabid then. soap fans would picket outside studios or send letters to their soaps if they didn't like this actor getting the boot or this storyline developing. yet fans didn't care when oltl recasted korean blair into a white woman.

the point is: daytime has continued to be racist, yet there's no call to arms for that. so why should people mobilize for luke/noah? they shouldn't get any preferential treatment just because they're gay characters.

Definitely a worthy cause. So, where's your call to arms? Instead of taking it out on gay viewers, take it out on the PTB. The NUKE people are organized. Take a lesson from them.

That Queer As Folk stuff is 1000% made up! Brian kissed and had sex with more than blak guy. should they have had a black character on the show yes. No need to lie.

I also agree than the Nuke fans seem to forget about they much more beloved character of Bianca.

On more thing the N's number 2 show South Of Nowhere is being canned because of Lesbian and Bi character there's no big outcry.

Gay issues seem to trump Lesbian issues.

I've yet to see anyone attack another poster here on SON simply because the poster might be a Nuke fan. Criticizing actors is apart of the game, deal with it. There's always going to be actors we like and those we're not too fond of. It's always up to the audience to decide and there's usually going to be mixed reactions in the end, but that's apart of posting on message board anyway - a variety of opinions. Jake Silbermann is not immune from that.

Marie Wilson, Scott Bryce, Roger Howarth, Jennifer Landon, and Jesse Soffer received much more criticism this past year than anyone involved in the Nuke pairing and that didn't stop their fans from posting here...

I don't blame Van and Jake for anything, it's the horrible writing and horrible casting for Noah that destroyed that couple almost before they started for me.

I'm more concerned that this has become a forum for which cause is more worthy than another. People pick and choose their own causes based on which excites more passion for justice, within them. Organizations have strict and clear mandates to appeal to those specific passions. I'm dismayed that people I once respected call gay rights issues a "piggyback" on other human rights issues. My husband, yes husband, because we are two men legally married, is black and gay. Can you imagine how conflicted he has been? he would say "when you are a racial minority, you generally come home to a family of the same minority, you never come home to a gay family"

Human rights are human rights. period. When one minority loses, we all lose. Clearly special interest groups need to exist. The different groups cannot get along for a common goal.
