February 28, 200818 yr Member Big fan of later opera--Tchaikovsky (Queen of Spades and Eugene Onegin especially) Puccini, etc--as well as some modern Britten. though really I'd rather listen to some of the more complex musical theatre stuff--Stephen Sondheim is basically my musical idol but I like some of the more complex modern composers coming along-- Michael John LaChiusa in particular who people can't decide if he's Broadway or Opera lol. A clip from a production of his jazz opera The Wild Party (Tonya Perkins from AMC was in the original along with Toni Colette and Mandy Patinkin) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpYRtamh6hQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHbSNIOYYWk
