Discuss.

So far, I noticed that they got rid of the number 70 during the credit opening, but I'm hoping that a new credit opening will show since they're pimpin' the 2.29.08 promo. They really need to show a Lighthouse IMO.

Lizzie pregnant again? Please tell me this is a joke. She just had a a baby over a year ago, and why is it that these girls are getting pregnant foolishly? Doesn't send out a good message for young girls, but then again, look at Britney's sister.

I don't understand the character of Harley Cooper anymore. How is it that she was crushed when Phillip Spaulding cheated on her with Beth Raines and then Gus cheats with Natalia, so why would Harley want to go after Cyrus when he's with her niece, Marina? That's not a very nice auntie, but then again, look at Cassie and Reva.

I want to see Tom Pelphrey. That's the only thing that I'm looking forward to this week.

P.S. Rumor has it that Michelle Ray Smith (Ava Peralta) will be leaving Guiding Light.

Yeah the Harley and Cyrus thing is not making sense.

With this whole "I came close to life and death while with Cyrus." thing she's spouting, kinda makes you think back to when Harley gave Phillip hell for sleeping with Beth when he and Beth were stranded in the mountains after a plane crash. (Who were on the verge of death, just like Cyrus and Harley.)

I still hate Coop. I like Ashley, but Coop's such a idiot. Bill should have burned down Company when he had the chance. Thanks to DK, I hate all things Coopers. I wouldn't really care if they lost their restaurant or that table they call Co2 in the middle of Main Street.

I don't think Lizzie is really preggers.

GL on my TV today was in 16:9 aspect ratio (so, letterboxed on a 4:3 TV). It was not in HD.

But this has me asking:

1. Is this a new thing?

2. Is it a permanent thing?

3. Does this mean the new digital format will be in 16:9? Will it be in HD?

I hope so...'cause I think that _might_ attract eyeballs. It can't be THAT expensive. They're selling HD home video cameras now, and more and more local newscasts and sports games (using outdoor digicams, like GL will) are using HD widescreen cameras now.

Yeah...who could forget that awful avalanche in San Cristobel? An avalanche on a tropical island? I just find it so funny how EW/DK claim that they're going back to the rich history of Guiding Light, but in actual reality, they're not and to hell with everyone else.

Another character I don't understand and a character I've never understood from the beginning is Ava. Why is it that she was tired of Lizzie's undermining schemes while she was with Coop? What is she doing now? Scheming. And is the town of Springfield really that low in population? With the Christmas Eve Chritmas special that we saw (*cough New York City cough*), Springfield is so huge, so why is daughter Ava wanting Bill Lewis when her mother Olivia was married to him while Bill adopted daughter Emma? Why is Reva seeing Jeffrey when Jeffrey slept with daughter Marah Lewis years ago? Marina sleeping with Alan-Michael Spaulding when Alan-Michael thought that he was the father of Marina years back? Umm...Cassie sleeping with Josh- Reva's sister who was married to Josh? Lord, I could go on and on.

I'm assuming that within these past two years, Ellen Wheeler & Co. are pulling ideas out of their asses and it reeks.

Sorry guys, but a show that I loved and adored so much is no longer a show that I treasure anymore. Instead of watching Guiding Light out of pure enjoyment, I only watch it sometimes due to obligation.

But I am looking forward to Tom Pelphrey scenes, so I guess that's a positive thing, right?

I agree with you about hating the Coopers. Kreizman and his pathetic attempts to make them the best thing to ever hit Springfield makes me wish that they would all get swept out of Springfield.

Today's episode was mostly a snooze fest

It is EXACTLY the same for me.

I'm watching this week because I read the previews here at SON and they actually looked good. So I figured, why not? The reason they sounded good to me is probably because of Tom Pelphrey. I can't wait to see his scenes.

Today's show was so boring. There was nothing exciting about it at all. Zzzzzzzz

PRAISE THE LORD ABOVE!!!!! :D I'm hoping that that guy who plays that horrific Cyrus gets canned too.

I watched since I had the day off. Bad mistake. The show was such a letdown compared to ATWT's eppy. The only thing I liked was Coop and Ashley. Everything else was a complete mess. What was Bill trying to do? I just dont get the Bill story. Maybe it is because I dont watch the show only on days off from work...LOL. My aunt was here today and asked you still watch ATWT? I said yes. She is like that is Guiding Light right....I said yes....do u still watch she asked.....I said only on my days off...lol..and she laughed. I said the show sucked...lol.

Exactly. And I've noticed this... and it's not because I want to nit-pick. I decided to watch ATWT about two months ago and I found the whole show to be suspenseful and compelling. Then, I watch Guidng Light (both are P&G shows), and I have to wonder, "What the f*ck gives with this show?" I don't understand it. I really don't.

And Coop mopping up gasoline? Too funny.

Ugh compared to what this show used to be, and what it is today, it should have been cancelled a long time ago. I hate to say it, but it's true.

...but aside from the usual doom and gloom ....I'm not a hundred percent behind Bill and Lizzie as a couple, but MR and DC do have the chemistry. I enjoy watching these two play off one another. These two and my curiousity concerning the Will storyline are what keeping me tuning in; that and pure obligation it seems.

What I don't like about Lizzie and Bill is the insta-pairing which is something that Wheeler & Co. likes to do. Why not tell a story and tell it well which actually GIVES viewers someting to root for? That hasn't been done since...I give up. I was going to say Harley & Mallet in the early 90's, but I'm sure people think that Gus & Harley had a pretty good storyline like that.

First off, they missed a lot of stuff...I'm saying this mainly because I post the previews for the show.

Where was the big confrontation that Ava and Coop were supposed to have (downplayed that)... they just had him talking about his confrontation with her....

Did Bill even tell Lizzie that he wasn't planning on setting Company on fire, that the gas can was actually water?

So tired of Marina...I already know where all this is going to lead her...simply bored with her.

I think the only thing that I am going to be interested in seeing is when Jon Jon comes back...

Because, in case you haven't figured it out by now, Noel, when Harley is acting selfish and hypocritical, it's okay; but not so much with anyone else.

Wow. First, Angie and Jesse return to AMC; and now, Ava might be leaving SF. Is it Christmas time again already?

Now, Coop, I could take or leave. But Ashlee? GMAnF'ingB.

And no, the fact that I don't like Ashlee does not mean I hate "fat chicks."

I wouldn't mind the Coopers losing Company, either, but I don't want to see the place burned down. IMO, Company (and the Reardon boardinghouse) is as "sacred" as the Lighthouse and Cedars Hospital. (Can't we just bring back Tony Reardon to run the place instead?)

    • The thing with Martin (for me) is that he should have been Anita and Vernon's kid. I honestly think he would have been fine being an older or younger brother to Dani and Nicole. It also would have made his relationship and kids feel more realistic. A handsome salt and pepper late 40s/early 50s congressman who settled down and adopted kids to fit an image for politics. Not that he didn't want this lifestyle but it is what he needed to do to get ahead. Also, we don't often get older characters playing LGBT roles not just on daytime but across most media. It would have been a refreshing take. As an alternative, Sam and Ty could have been Martin's kids from an earlier marriage a la the NJ governor that was outed. We could have also seen parallels between Vernon and Anita thinking back to how they handled Martin coming out compared to the way they accepted Chelsea.  As for Martin being Nicole and Ted's kid, I do wish in this case he was not tied to a marriage and kids, so that he could date and sleep around like any other character on a soap.  Yeah, I didn't get it...but what I did get is that girl is a bit crazy like her mama.  Vanessa and Joey talking about the poker table...get these people off my screen.

    • Unpopular opinion, but I didn't think the show should have reunited Billy/Vanessa at all until the final stretch of the show. When watching the 1989 episodes when both Vanessa and Billy return after being off the show... I liked that Vanessa had moved on from him and that the show was hinting at her wanting to reunite with her first love Ross while looking down at Nadine for being the one Ross was dating.  And I loved the twist where Billy and Nadine teamed up to keep Vanessa/Ross apart.   This was an interesting concept that sadly the writers dropped with the show deciding to make Vanessa pine over Billy between 1990 and 1993 when they finally reunited.   To me, Vanessa pining over Billy seemed out of character. At least once Billy was carted off to prison in 1994... she and Billy divorced and stayed divorced until the final months when they finally found their way back together.  During the years when they were divorced, I liked that they had maintained a friendship and connection.. with viewers (like my late mom) wondering if they would ever decide to make it work again. I wish the show had tried that with Josh/Reva because by the time of the final episode when they rode off into the sunset, I didn't care because we'd been through the make up and break ups between them for over 10+ years by that point.
    • I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as  Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
    • I’m ready for Portia and Curtis to divorce and get it over with. Portia cheating with Isaiah would make for a fun love quadrangle with Jordan.

    • They didn't need to have some slutty gay dude as their representation. Just a 'normal' guy getting involved with another guy or two (or three). Just like the straight characters. Thinking about it, they missed the boat by not having a few other single charcters at the beginning. Maybe Naomi or Ashley could be shown meeting Derek/Jacob and  we could follow their romance. Too many characters were coupled up at the start. As a tattoo hater I was surprised to see Tomas so inked. Don't find it attractive or sexy. I'm surprised an actor would do that as it's definitely a statement and may not be appropriate for some roles. Suppose they can cover if necessary. I didn't buy Kat being all girly and then paying off Darius to get into Eva's room. Way too cliche. She should have just come along when the housekeeping was leaving and breezed in saying it was her room. And her smug looks in the hotel room and 'Now I've got you!!' talks to herself at Orphey Gene's...no.
    • Omg I was so annoyed. Like girl calm down. Coming on way too strong. Omg I forgot about this
