Alison Sweeney (Sami/Colleen) made the most appearances of her "Days" career in 2007. Sweeney appeared in 192 episodes, which places her in the top 10 in most appearances in a year, since records began being kept in 1987. This was the first year that Sweeney lead the episode rankings since 1998. It was her 14th time on the Top 15 list. Joining her on the Top 15 list for 2007 are: Kristian Alfonso (Hope) and Peter Reckell (Bo), also making their 14th appearance on the list; Lauren Koslow (Kate, 9 times); Bryan Dattilo (Lucas, 8 times); Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, 6 times); Stephen Nicolels (Steve, 5 times); Josh Taylor (Roman, 5 times); Jay Johnson (Philip, 4 times); Martha Madison (Belle, 3 times); and Rachel Melvin (Chelsea, 2 times). Appearing on the Top 15 list for the first-time ever are Brandon Beemer (Shawn), Blake Berris (Nick), Darin Brooks (Max), Shelley Hennig (Stephanie) and James Scott (EJ). Drake Hogestyn (John) failed to make the list for the first-time in his 22-year career on "Days." Hogestyn finished in 22nd place, with 49 episodes. Suzanne Rogers clocked in 60 episodes back in 2003 (you know, the year she got killed off...ugh). This year I think the 35 episodes she got were more effective than in recent years because Maggie actually got to interact with other cast members of varying ages. She seemed like she was around a bit more than she actually was because she wasn't so much wallpaper as she has been in years past. I hope this trend continues and Suzanne can crack the 40 episode mark which has so eluded her.

The top 10 is quite laughable. No surprise the ratings have been the way they are. Deirdre Hall is this shows saving grace and yet she is still being wasted. Hopefully this changes.

It could be better but its not exactly the worst list. I mean at least Shelle aren't the top two and no matter how much I want her to have less airtime Alison Sweeney is a vet.

I think the list will be majorly improved in 2008, from the sounding of spoilers.

I think Deidre, even though she has appeared in less than ten episodes this month, is slowly climbing her way back to the top. Its been taken slow but is coming.

And, Suzanne Rogers in thirty five episodes is better than nothing. I know she never appeared this Summer but regardless Maggie did do some good interaction in the first part of the year, and she's appeared several times this Fall.

This whole year proved that AS cannot be THE leading actress on the show - it's not her time yet.

Hopefully 2008 will be better with Kristian and Deidre being the lead actresses on the show.

Thanks for the rankings, Jason!

If not now, then when is her time? She's been on the show for 14 years.

She can lead the show but the writing for her was horribly inconsistent. If in a better story, she would be just fine. She has been the lead in many stories in the past...the execution story for instance.

This is not as bad as people make it out to be. Suzanne was on much more then she has been in awhile. They cooled down on Chick toward the end of the year so that is good. Shawn/Belle/Philip/Chloe will be in the top 10. I've excepted that.

As long as they up Dee's count and Thaoo and Leann's, I'm good.

What I think worked with Suzanne Rogers' 35 episodes is that the writing was there for them, she had decent scenes where she actually said and/or did something that mattered. In other years she may have had more than 35 episodes but they usually consisted of Maggie welcoming people at Chez Rouge or Tuscany and adding the odd bit of gossip to her 2 minutes of interaction. This year Maggie got to interact with Nick and Chelsea, she got to talk down Jeremy and Max, she supported Hope and Bo and Marlena, dished with Doug and Julie and just generally got more mileage out of her episodes. Sheffer's writing benefited Suzanne Rogers. Again, I hope this trend continues and Suzanne can crack 40 episodes come this time next year.

In terms of Alison Sweeney...I think she's been hurt by uneven writing and overexposure. I've always thought of DAYS as more of an ensemble show and the focus on Sweeney and James Scott highlights my belief. Focusing on a single couple hurt the show. I don't know if Sweeney will ever be able to be THE leading lady because I don't think DAYS has ever really had one (to the scale of Susan Lucci on AMC for instance). Even though Deirdre is obviously the female lead during her best years (much of the 80s and through Eileen Davidson's run) there were lots of solid 'B' and 'C' stories going on to support the main action.
