Ooh, I loved the name Schulyer Whitney on EON. And don't forget Raven. ;)

Stone Cates/GH

Robert Scorpio/GH (great spy name)

Clint Buchanan/OLTL (the character initially had a different name but they asked Clint Ritchie if they could use his)

Asa Buchanan/OLTL (know any other Asas on soaps?)

Harley Davidson Cooper/GL

I don't really like OLTL's Nora but Nora Hanen Gannon Buchanan is pretty funny.

Lucinda Walsh (ATWT)

Monica Quartermaine (GH)

Margo Flax (AMC)

Myrtle Lum Fargate (AMC)

Greenlee Smythe duPres (AMC)

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (DS)

Never noticed that before lol.

I notice how sometimes, if a character becomes big and popular and known across the soap industry, all other soaps seem to "retire" the character's names. For example, I'll give you a list of names, you tell me how many long-running characters with that name you can think of:

Erica

Lisa

Reva

Adam

Luke

Laura

Rachel

Nancy

Joanne

Stephanie

And something that annoys the crap out of me is when soaps have multiple characters with the same name. AMC's had, to date, three David's: one in the late 70s, one in the late 80s/early 90s, and one in the late 90s/early 00s.

I love the tradition of a couple naming their kid the mother's last name and the father's last name...let's see...Ryan Fenelli, Shayne Lewis, Greenlee Smythe are just three that I can think of right now.

I was seven when she was on but the name Silver Kane always stuck with me. Or maybe I just remember her because she was stabbed with scissors while trying to kill Natalie, thrown into a pond by Palmer, and then found later by Dixie Martin. No, it's because Silver is just such a cool name.

I think JR Chandler is pretty fabulous. Harkening back to Dallas in all of its soapy glory.

I tend to adore most of the names they gave characters to make them sound wealthy. Myrtle Fargate, Palmer Cortlandt, Victoria Lord, Edward Quartermaine etc.

And I think John McBain is hilarious. I remember when PC got canceled, and the adds for ME going to OLTL started popping up, with soapy voices telling us that "John McBain is coming!". My sister and I cracked up everytime. John Black is along the same lines.

Bill Bell used his own family names when writing Y&R.

Phillip Chancellor (his wife's maiden name is Phillip)

Bill Foster Sr and Jr (aka Snapper)

Brad Eliot and then Brad Carlton (his son's name)

Lauralee(Lorie)Brooks (daughters name)

Colleen Carlton (grandaughters name)

Maybe Jack Curtis and then Jack Abbott were in honour of his good friend and co-writer Jack Smith.

Katherine 'Kay' Chancellor -names after Kay Alden?

Henry Slesar used some unusual names in the 70's on Edge of Night

Brandy Henderson

Star Stoner

Ansel Scott

Draper Scott

Jinx Avery

Raven Alexander

Taffy Simms

Raney Cooper

DiDi Bannister

Whenever I see, hear, or even think of names like "Star Stoner" and "Taffy Simms," two things come to mind: stripper poles, and "Pour Some Sugar on Me" playing somewhere in the background.

And I don't even want to tell you what I think of when I think of "Didi Bannister."

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
