You know the pressure will be on her more to win The Aussie Open In January. She shouldnt let the pressure get to her because she is now a grand slam champion.

I always wondered why she wasn't doing better in singles. I would see her playing doubles and winning and thought she'd be great in singles. Why isnt she doing good. Glad my impressions of her doing well in singles came true. I really enjoy her game and matches. Most of the female players are boring to watch and all they do is scream during each point.

I wish they would ban all the [!@#$%^&*] screeching during the points...its so annoying and not needed by the women players.

Yes there will be a lot of pressure on Sam to win the Aust Open, as there will be with other Aussie players. But mainly Sam as she is now a Grand Slam winner. The same pressure was on both Rafter & Hewitt as well.

All this grunting has gotten me to the point where I watch the tennis with the sound down or muted all together.

Well it looks like Serena will be fined again. Does she ever learn? She was already on probation. ESPN2 is having a one hour special right now on Stosur's win and a look at the men's final. She was just interviewed and said she still cant believe she won.

The ESPN crew is down on Serena.....lol. They said she went too far with the umpire.

Given her injury problems, despite being one of the best in the game or not, Serena should be humble to the fact that she even made it to the final!!

Glad to see Novak win. It was a great final!

On a side note...Serena got fined a measly 3,000 dollars..what a joke

Did anyone hear Roger's comments to Novak's win over him and his forehand winner to avoid losing the match??

Was it a good thing or bad that I was sick and had to stay home from work. Was able to watch parts of the mens final but was not able to really focus. But that point late in the 3rd set has to be one of the best, if not the best point that I have ever seen.

Roger said Novak's shot on match point was just a lucky shot....lol

He sure was bitter. Even the CBS announcers were taken back by his news conference.

I only saw the highlights of the men's final and it looks like I missed a fantastic match. :( The rallies and winners look really good. Novak just finished one of the best seasons in men's history. If he wins the Aussie Open, it'll be a "Novak-Slam" or "Djokovic-Slam".

Well, a return like that is lucky because it doesn't happen too often. You just swing your racket and hope for the best.

CBS Sports’ live coverage of the 2011 U.S. OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS on Sunday, Sept. 11, featuring the women’s championship match, which saw Samantha Stosur defeat Serena Williams in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, earned an average overnight household rating/share of 4.2/8, up 100% from last year’s 2.1/4, which consisted of rain-out coverage on Sunday afternoon, and up 121% from a 1.9/4 for last year’s women’s championship in prime time on Saturday night, Sept. 11 (Kim Clijsters def. Vera Zvonareva).

Get an American in the finals and ratings go through the roof.

My Nephew is at the Tennis at the moment and I think he is watching the match on Centre Court. I may go on the weekend or Friday night depending on the weather.

And yes if I do go I will take photos.

I'm hoping Milos Raonic can get far. He's great for Canadian Tennis.

I'll probably try and catch as much men matches as possible. The women's side kinda bores me right now.

Just heard from my nephew, he can only watch the matches on Hisense Arena and is watching Sharapova at the moment.

It was a great match for Tomic, yesterday got home about 10 min's after it finished.

Tonights match between Hewitt & Roddick will be very interesting.

It seems that a lot of Aussie's will be going for Roddick to win, while there are a number of American's that will be going for Hewitt lol.

Furious Marcos Baghdatis smashes four racquets

CYPRIOT MARCOS Baghdatis has been fined $US800 for his extraordinary outburst in his loss to Swiss player Stan Warwrinka last night.

The fine was today handed down by the ITF after he smashed four racquets into pieces during his three-set loss.

He was sanctioned was ''abuse of racquets and equipment'', with three of the racquets still in their plastic wrapping.

A frustrated Baghdatis vented his anger on his equipment after falling two sets down to 21st seed Stanislas Wawrinka on Margaret Court Arena.

The Cypriot, who was runner-up at the 2006 Australian Open, destroyed the racquet he'd been using and then turned his attention to the brand new ones from his kit bag while he sat at his chair.

Baghdatis wasn't the only player who threw a tantrum yesterday. Check out David Nalbandian's meltdown here. And John McEnroe has some choice words for the umpire!

It proved to be a masterstroke as Baghdatis' game went up a notch following the outburst and he clawed back into the match, taking the third set 7-5.

But Wawrinka showed his class getting an early break of serve in the fourth set and never gave Baghdatis another look-in, taking the victory 7-6 6-4 5-7 6-1.
