It’s always been clear to me that the NFL functions like something akin to a modern day plantation system, where team owners act as if they don’t only own the team but as if they own the very human beings that comprise the team. I lost interest in the NFL when I saw that athletes were being diagnosed with CTE and not only did the NFL appear indifferent, they set out to destroy the medical pathologist that was only trying to do his job in making the initial diagnosis. I admit, this has caused me to look at Jessica Pegula a certain way. I know she has trained and worked to get to her ranking but she is definitely a beneficiary of that NFL system and NFL money, which has no doubt, gone to pay coaches, physiotherapist and travel for training and tournaments. Don’t get me wrong, I am in no way trying to take anything away from her, but we know there are many talented players who don’t have the resources to get as accomplished and achieve anything on the level that she has had the opportunity to achieve.

I forgot all about Halep. With Twitter being a much diminished platform, it seems like the vibrant conversations that took place years ago when Sharapova was banned are not taking place now with Halep’s ban.

The viewership doesn't surprise me - people want to see Coco.  She's got marketability and is a look toward the future, if there is one.  Joker doesn't have that kind of marketability (I've always felt badly for him in that respect, because he's not Federer nor Nadal - and it just "is what it is")  - and Medvedev - has got to be the most drab, dishrag, boring player I've ever seen.  It's like watching an emotionless machine hit a ball.

Coco is American, young, charismatic, historically significant, and has become a massive worldwide star in the making. Just look at how packed her crowds are at events. Novak (whom I remain a fan of due to his tenacity and work ethic—and the breadth of his fan base is underrated) was and always has been most marketable as a spoiler/villain to Federer and Nadal, although his brewing rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz seems to drive a lot of interest.

For anyone who doesn’t have the time to read all 126 pages of the tribunal’s conclusions regarding Halep’s ban, BBC summarized it here:

https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/66805953

This article discusses the disparity in results between a volunteer who took the supplement that Halep claimed to have taken and compared it to Halep’s actual results. There were massive disparities in the results.

Hm, I may just read the full report myself.

He, as well as Darrin Cahill, who has vociferously defended Halep over the course of this entire process. Also, I don’t like how closed-mouthed some tennis media entities are being right now but it doesn’t surprise me, as I remember how they were with the Zverev’s DV allegations.

    • Yes and I also loved how she focused on Chelsea and Naomi when she spilled Bill's involvement in all of this.
    • Danny: Don't drink it. Just hold it. Rocco drinks three laced cups.

    • OH, I AM.   And it looks like it's a pretty good episode so I might watch later on this weekend after work cuz I see a lot of scenes with people I actually like. Very happy to see Rocco/Danny appear to be getting story, too.
    • I do agree that a revival of EON would work, if it doesn't fall into doing all of the typical soap opera tropes... which it became guilty of in the final few years of the show with the over abundance of Raven/Sky at the expense of the actual detectives, police, etc. And I know it was mentioned earlier that Raven had lost any true connections on the show with the death of her on screen mother, and the loss of April/Draper/Deborah.. and I do agree with that. I actually thought the show would have done something with the Shelley character that could have connected her to the Raven character.  There were a few scenes where the two would have scenes and size one another up before they would go their separate ways.. so I assumed perhaps they would have been revealed as half-siblings and/or perhaps cousins.  Alas.. not to be.
    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied
