Thus the horrible ratings especially at the US Open. The ratings were outright horrible. I noticed that no one in the Tennis world mentions it. They continue to prop the boring Joker, Murray which are dull as dirt.

Oh no, in my circle, plenty of people have mentioned those U.S. Open ratings! On the Women's side, I assume you mean the Finals because didn't Serena make it to the SFs?  To be fair, Stan beating Novak did make the Men's Final somewhat interesting.

This WTF, people have told me that the Doubles have made for the most interesting matches.

But there's always the exho season, right?

@FaulknerI read that Monica (never takes the medal from around her neck) Puig is going to play an exhibition in Puerto Rico against Meldonium Dopapova. Sorry, that's mean but I couldn't resist!

This happened today.

I use to be a fan of Maria but not anymore. I hardly missed her or the shrieking.....

Both finals were in the 1.s in HH ratings....even Days gets higher ratings than that.....LOL.  The men's final had a 1.1 rating. I do agree that it was great seeing Stan beat Novak. I love Stan's game but again the guy like many of the tennis players has zero personality....LOL.  I don't recall what the women's final ratings was.

Speaking of tennis and politics, really interesting blog post on both, and why one ardent tennis fan cannot support certain American ATP players.

Thiem is certainly talented but I've noticed during this tournament that Dominic seems to have this 2nd set lapse, where he either loses his way or fades a bit. I don't know whether this has been an ongoing issue or whether it just happened  since this tournament.

This pretty much describes the American males. That's why I haven't cared for any of them.

And you’re not going to improve until you get over yourself.

On a side note ....where is the quote feature...I can't find it...ugh

Very interesting piece. I haven't liked American male players since Agassi. They do have a smug, insular, entitled quality. I once had a soft spot for Stevie Johnson since he seemed like an unassuming guy on court, but once he started whining about DelPotro's much-deserved wild card at the USO, it was over. And I can't even rally around the Bryan brothers either in doubles.

Hopefully, Tiafoe and Mmoh will live up to their potential and give tennis fans people to root for.

I hope that Tiafoe and Mmoh will do their best to be multi-surface, multi-dimensional players instead of one-dimensional forehand/serve players like Isner.

Tiafoe is being coached by Jose Higueras (I think) who used to coach Jim Courier and Higueras ran the FL component of the USTA for a few years and I think he oversaw the installation of several clay courts there so I hope this means that Frances will get more experience on clay than the previous generation of American ATP players. Hopefully Mmoh will embrace the clay as well.

Because of all the clay courts that Higueras had installed, I no longer think that it's critical to go to Spain like they used to do but the previous generation definitely should have gone to Spain and spent some time training on the clay. Donald Young, for example probably would've benefited from developing a clay game with his skill-set but he didn't want to leave Mommy and Daddy.

    • I'm seeing some interesting takes on this thread regarding Dani's behavior/personality, including right now. Here's my take on her: I think that Dani relishes in lighting people up. I think that's for multiple reasons.  I feel like Dani has probably largely been like this throughout her life. And that she gets joy in dragging people whenever she feels like it's necessary. I believe she feels like this is her being herself. I think one big reason why she's particularly giddy right now is because she's able to go back to acting this way, minus the hurt she's been dealing with due to Bill's affair. She got in Bill and Hayley's faces after their affair/wedding, but she was miserable doing it due to dealing with the hurt of that situation. Nicole's situation with Ted/Eva/Leslie allows her to act this way minus her suffering like she did at the hands of Bill. I believe she does empathize/care for her sister but is also interestingly enough rejuvenated by this situation. This situation is energizing her and making her act more like old self again, minus the being hurt by her own's husband's infidelity. I think Nicole's situation is a distraction for her from dealing with her own failed marriage to Bill.
    • Great episode, better than what the spoilers said. The gambling story was tolerable but Jon Lindstrom sucks in the role. Ambyr Michelle continues to shine. The diner and country club scenes were very well executed.  The Jan and Leslie scenes were very good! My favorite is Eva, now followed by Nicole.
    • Today's show was good. The only part I didn't care for were the Derek/Ashley scenes. I think they are bland together and Derek is very bland by himself. He is the least interesting character on the show IMO. I don't think they have much chemistry together. I appreciated Jan's reaction to Leslie. I like how regular/realistic her and Mona are as characters. Jan came across as very believable of being appalled and even hurt by Leslie's treatment of them and towards Eva in the diner.  Leslie continues to try and manipulate people with IMO her fake caring routine, only to show her true colors after she's confronted/called out for her treatment of others. I continue to dislike the way she mistreats Eva. Speaking of Eva she was great again today. I love her and I like how Martin comforted her in the diner. I liked that Vernon showed concern for her as well. They (especially Martin) will come around quicker to her before others (like the Dupree women) will. I also am glad to see her and Ted continue to bond and him behaving like a father towards her/helping her. He's the only one in her life who is fully trying to stand by her. I look forward to seeing their relationship grow.
    • Xander was screaming at Felicity.  He did do something wrong.  Felicity was clearly upset by it and Cat/Chad told him to stop.  That's fair.  No one deserves to be yelled at their job-and even I think this plot point is too preachy.  It's not acceptable behavior for anyone to do that.
    • When Derek finally appears with only a towel, and his chest and pecs/nipples are finally shown, I say yes.

    • Now, actually not. That thought had not even made it into my head, so, no, so far anyway, I've not seen that. Haven't seen today yet. What you're describing is warped & I think she's feeling genuine empathy & sister bond.
    • Xander was the bigger person apologizing to Cat when he didn't do anything wrong.  he wasn't yelling at Felicity whatsoever, he was asking if she possibly had given them the wrong order by mistake.  He was trying to get to the bottom of what was going on, but Chad/Cat were trying to white knight Felicity even though Felicity was being treated just like anyone else in that situation.   She was the one to bring the order out to them, and usually the person that brings the order out is the one that puts the order together.    I'm still getting a read on the Cat character.   I think she seems to work well when interacting with everyone other than Chad.   Perhaps the new writers can move Cat out of Chad's orbit into another orbit. Paulina has been written quite well the few times she's been on since the writer change.  I think Jackee is enjoying the new writing.. you can tell when she's on screen.
    • LOL - well, Peter was included in the grandkids' section, each named specifically with their $100K trusts.  It must have been the abs...

In Henry's will, he said it had to do with Hart having a chance at being a better person than his father, since his father isn't providing for him (I'm paraphrasing here, but it was about Roger).  Still a little surprised...
    • I'm glad the truth is all out regarding Roman and Kate's secrets from each other, and also happy Roman didn't make much of the letter forgery, because why would he even care? They are a good solid couple. However, not to be mean, when Roman had his little flashback at the DiMera mansion he seemed more like an old man that was lost. How wonderfully aggravating that we still don't know what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot. I can't wait to find out. I've my feelings clear on Paulina, but she was definitely written much more adult and Jackée even seemed a bit toned down, for the better. Nothing boring about either scenes for me. I like the little drama between Xander and Cat, for the newness of the interaction alone. AnnaLynne McCord is much better at material where she's not acting dementedly lovesick. Seeing that side to Cat was integral to remembering she's not a moron, and I am definitely intrigued by the heck could be calling her. Kevin Lambert returning is a cute little surprise. I never watched Chadwick Hopson in the role though, was he any good?
