Well, SOAPS SUCK!!! THERE WAS NO MAJOR RISE! All of them stayed the same or dropped. What the hell is this. These Ratings are crap. All My Children is not good right now and it shows. Even though I am a fan it sucks. OLTL will drop next week because there is nothing good this week. DAYS is doing eveything they can to rise but its not working. GH is on a slump. Y&R still have not dropped. What the hell!!

I totally agree. Why is it at #4? Theres nothing major going on. Tate is Boring! Its just boring. They are streching the whole Jessica/Nash/Antonio thing. The only reason it rised was because of the Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday cause of the Musical. OLTL will drop next week!

It's amazing though with both GH and Y&R. Though neither show is at a creative peak and are arguably at their worst, yet they remain extremely consistent in the ratings. Whereas shows like Days and ATWT, which had some of their best material of the year aired last week, continue to fall and remain very inconsistent in the ratings.

Overall, another pathetic week for soaps!

I actually thought GL was good last week as well.

I guess the viewers arent liking the Meg/Craig fiasco of a storyline. The wedding was last week and the remote on Friday. This just tells me changes in writing is needed at ATWT. It is so obvious and clear what must be done at ATWT.

OLTL deserves #4. GL definitely isn't doing anything interesting and while I don't watch AMC at least its viewers are loyal to show and thats why I think they consistently stay in the top rankings.

I guess CarJack isn't going to save ATWT after all....another week to ponder the mystery that is ratings. Cleo and Gwen were not on that much last week. Neither were Katie or Brad. And I know people are now going to blame the writing or Peg. But I don't think thats the reason. The ratings aren't bad because of one single couple or the writing. I'm starting to blame viewers to be honest. If they don't want to tune in and watch because they're not getting everything they desire thats there problem. If ATWT is cancelled which I doubt will happen I'll be sad. But it won't come as a surprise given how quick people are to abandon soaps these days.

I wouldnt consider a 2.4 and a 2.3 top ratings. Even B&B is stuck in 2.8 range lately. But I think B&B sucks right now anyways...lol.

The viewers are not to bleme for ATWT ratings woes. The ones to blame are Jean Passanante and Chris Goutman. Jean's writing is horrible and Chris is allowing her to write this crap. While I have enjoyed ATWT these past two weeks the show overall lately has sucked! Only a few liked what was happening during the last couple of months. Only now with Carly's return has there been more interest in the show.

The majority of the fans left watching any of the shows are the longtime loyal ones. If they're leaving now, it's because they've finally reached their breaking points. Days has been much better in the past couple of weeks (especially compared to the last half of May which was atrocious), but I personally know a lot of fans who have reached their limit and simply refuse to trust the writing anymore. They may return, but it's going to take months of consistently good writing to woo them back.

They're top ratings when compared to other soaps. Truth be told you and the others would love to see ATWT reach a 2.4 but that will probably never happen. Why? Because people will always find a reason to complain. Some people complain for the sake of complaining when it comes to soaps. Last week was perfect in nearly all aspects. This week is shaping up to be the same. I'm sure the next few weeks will be excellent or near excellent quality. Yet the ratings will probably float around the same 2.1 that they've been floating around for years.

Oh but wait JP is still headwriter. Okay so lets say I buy that story which I do at times. Lets fire her NOW. I agree. Get rid of her and bring someone fresh and creative and nice. However I have serious doubts about whether the ratings would go up. Because this new writer might have a NEW vision for the show and I'm sure people will say, "Oh I hate his new vision. Its not ATWT" Then another few years of bashing the writing and the storylines until that person is fired....

The cycle repeats itself again.

    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
