Erica's pairings since Dimitri have all lacked spark, except David and Erica. At the time I was indifferent to them. I mean I enjoyed them and watching their story play out but now after I've lived through Chris, and the Jackson merry-go-round and now Happy Fetus Family, I long for the days of David and Erica. But now he is gone :(

I hated David and Erica becoming a couple. I couldnt stand him and hated him with Erica who I did like. I could barely wach her during that time bc was so swarmy. Its ironic that I actually did love them during the 2003 redux and was hoping that they'd reunite but unfortunetly that idnt happen. I actually loved David then and he and Erica working together was one of the best parts of the Cambias murder story for him

Make what you want of this, but until August 5th 2003, the day that David told Erica he believed that Bianca was raped, D&E hadn't so much as breathed each others name, let alone spoke in 17 months. MMT was rehired in May. We had David and Bianca by July, and D&E by August. I'd say, MMT was planning, something.LOL

I remember numerous insiders, here and other boards telling me and the J&E fans that (and they'll lie and tell you otherwise) whichever fanbase yelled the loudest, made the most nosie, proved their couple the better couple, was going to win. MMT gave two interviews and pretty much said D&E were going to start to feel things they weren't supposed to. VI said the same thing, about D&E starting to be confused when their kisses (during the ruse) started to feel real. So, IMO, we were headed for at the very least a triangle. What happened? I don't know. I'm not sure anyone really does. The J&E fans will tell you they won, but I'm not so sure about that. D&E were magazine darlings at the point. They were on almost daily from September-December. The net was buzzing. There was 7 fan letters in a 9 month span (August 2003-May 2004 (one of mine included)) published. Did D&E hold their own, damn striaght they did. Why was the triangle I scraped? Good question. Makes you wonder how wise a decision that was, seeing J&E now. D&E could have at least done the same thing...only better and more entertaining. :D

I know if they would of kept david around and he was put with erica again, the show would be much better off. I'm sick of amc pairing erica with these weak actors that can't hold their own with erica, can't stand on their own as a character, and pretty much are only on when she is(jack, chris and jeff).

I hated when Al became michael, they should of never killed off al and his mom.

    • I think Cheryl was essentially replaced by Josie, and it seems likely that Lemay wanted to bring the Frames back into the picture and for a variety of reasons that it would be McKinnons who would make way for them. Cheryl didn't really get many layers -- she was pretty and kind and sweet and faded into the background so that Scott could participate in the AIDS storyline with Dawn. Looking at the AWHP, other than (not very) shockingly being in love with her mother's adopted son Scott, Cheryl apparently went out with Sam and flirted with much-too-old-for-her John Hudson and MJ's ex-boyfriend/pimp Chad. I know MJ told Mary that she had been a prostitute, but did she tell Cheryl and did she tell anyone about Chad's pimping?
    • I feel the same way about Melissa Reeves' Jennifer. She just makes the show feel like home by her presence alone. I am perfectly okay with them coming in every once and awhile, which probably fits Reeves' schedule better anyway. They're connections to Salem are still there: JJ, the grandkids, Jack still owning half of The Spectator ... they're perfect recurring characters.
    • Hahaha. Jean Hackney, Angelica Nero, and the Falcon Crest henchwomen were all straight out of a James Bond movie.
    • My hunch is what you've described. JFP is likely back working on transitioning the show to a new studio and embracing new technology for its production model.
    • The woman who was the co-chair of Latinas for Trump is now complaining about his targeting immigrants that she thought were "safe." I also read a puff piece from yet another "insider" journalist who lives to normalize fascists - this one with a tech bro who was venting off the record because he thought voting for Trump was cool and would show up the Democrats and maybe we'd get Greenland, but now he's getting upset.  These people still support Trump, and Republicans, they just want to make sure they get credit for being respectable. And they will get it.
    • I really do wish someone could. Just a few characters in very simple backdrops, with very real problems that are just a little larger than life, like the '50s and '60s. All the characters having a level of dignity or respect. And their inner lives are what dominate the story, even if there are outside forces at play.
    • It's a lesson to never be loyal because once your use is up, you're shown the door. MSW was the only bright spot for CBS for awhile, and once they were back on top... they promptly sabotaged the show as a repayment for all that the show had done for the network.
    • The show made a mistake in not bringing in more McKinnon kids, specifically bringing back Ben. Kathleen was leaving, and while I like you am very fond of Sally Spencer as MJ, that didn't seem to be a common view. They also decimated the character in a truly sick storyline. So that just left Cheryl.
    • Between Gwen and Cat, the show often seems to side with those who cause lots of cruelty to Jack and Jennifer. I am half-surprised that the show hasn't brought Peter Blake back for more of the same.  I don't really know if there is a purpose for them in Salem now, but I do feel a sense of stability and rightness when Melissa Reeves is back in the role of Jennifer and back in the Horton house, in spite of...well, a lot of offcamera stuff we all know perfectly well.
    • I like to call her an FC-reject character
