DAYS: Talk about a slap in the face!

From this week's SOD:

Back-burner Blues: J/M, B/H - a lot of mail. Each duo has aired about once a week, if even that, in Jan/Feb. "That won't be the case as much with Bo and Hope going forward," promises Corday. [editing out spoilers]He says that their backburning had nothing to do with budget and the rumors of their exits are greatly exaggerated. "Everything has it's cycle. These are very important characters - and couples...We know that. Everyone who is on the show now stays on the show now."

It's my understanding the fans sent that in some time LAST year.

Have the fans been as upset over it NOT being used in the John & Marlena scenes over the past year also?

Andre, I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking. I've edited the spoilers out of my SOD quote.

It was sent in in the fall (after Sheffer took over), and it was a campaign. Some [food-like] campaigns have been taken by people at the studio before it reached the actors, so we assumed this happened with the bed campaign too.

I'm sorry, but no matter how "weird" people think it is to send in gifts and stuff to the show, that is just *SO* disrespectful to that fanbase. It doesn't even matter WHO they used the bedding for, Patch/Kayla, Bo/Hope, Lucas/Sami....the fact that FANS of JOHN/MARLENA sent the bedsheets in to be used for their couple and, instead, they use them for Steve/Kayla, that is just RUDE. And they know it.

Whoever used the cake/food fight analogy was dead on!

It's a pretty horrible slap then. If it was only recently recieved by the show, there was no time for it to be thrown aside and forgetten about. This is a new low for Days.

Don't worry. It wasn't just you. They have been sprinkled about in the thread.

I saw this on a few other boards.

It's not that big of a deal. They may use it for many couples. J&M may get to use it in the future when it is called for. How do they it's the same one and, even if it is, there are budget issues so maybe the show felt like using it for more then just J&M.

I think it's kind of nuts that a fanbase even did this. Honestly, this is just a fanbase getting worked up over nothing, something that has been happening alot lately in regards to believing screentime and budget rumors and the like. There is no proof that this won't be used for J&M. If it goes months and it isn't used for them but for others, fine but, otherwise, whatever. Sounds like a non-issue to me at this juncture.

How is it nuts? I thought it was kind of creative and fun. Maybe you're just jealous or something? :o

Go to the spoiler section, Lynn. Supposedly, Dedire's going to get more involved with Steve's storyline.

Oh JOY!!! NOT!

It's my understanding the fans sent that in some time LAST year. I'm sure it was just put into the prop department and when a new bedroom set was needed, it got used. I doubt there was anything nefarious at work. Getting bent out of shape about it is ridiculous, IMO.

And yeah, I'd feel the same way if the situation were reversed.

I'm confused by your post. You'd feel the same way, but getting bent out of shape about it is ridiculous?

If they had used it for Bope or Lumi or someone, it wouldn't have got this angry reaction. The trouble is that J&M fans are already insecure about S&K and see them as having "stolen" their turf (which, IMO, is complete bull). TPTB are probably oblivious to the bitterness between the fanbases so it wouldn't have occured to them that this would cause offence.

Why wouldn't they know? You seem to know a whole lot.

Not only should John/Marlena fans be offended for their bedding being used for Steve/Kayla, Steve/Kayla fans should also be offended that the show was too cheap to get them their own bedsheets and had to leech them from the J/M fanbase.

It's cheap and tacky. The set designers should be ashamed of themselves.

The J&M fans are obsessed with the idea that "Payla" have taken over the show, and that John and Marlena and the fans are being treated horribly, and it's so totally unfair, and it's just making them so angry! Honestly, they will only be happy if John and Marlena were on five days a week, the show revolved around them, and they had 10 slurpy disgusting love scenes a week. "Oh John, touch me right there, make me forget that I could be a great grandmother in a couple of years!"

Oh pleeeeze. The payla fans quit watching Days for 16 years and only came back because they did. I mean that's what I read them post all over the place. So that must mean that they only want the payla show... which is kayla crying "ohhh steeeeveeeee...." and Steve sobbing uncontrollably like a wussy little boy playing pirates of the caribbean.

I don't "know". I was speculating...just like everyone else in this thread.
