Members King
It won't air on prime time. Affiliates hate it. I think the affiliates pushing NBC to cancel it is a big reason the show was finally canceled. And PSNS would not work well with Heroes. OLD Passions would have worked well with Heroes. No one will watch PSNS on primetime. Its ratings would be even worse-looking because shows on prime time score four times the ratings of the best daytime soap. PSNS is done on 9/7. Members RionPassions
Wrong again, bud. NBC is clearly interested in keeping Passions around in some form. I can't wait for you to eat crow come September. I hope you like feathers!!
Members JoelMTL
I think PASSIONS might work better as a once a week primetime soap than it ever did as a daytime show. Cut down the cast size, create some new stories (that actually don't take years to climax) and feature excellent actors (Juliet Mills, Ben Masters, Kathleen Noone, Liza Huber) in leading roles. Members RionPassions
Passions will live on in a new format. If you hate Passions, why can't you leave the fans the f__k alone instead of being pricks? Jesus!!!
Members bellcurve
Not being a prick, dear. Just being realistic. You're not the only one losing guilty pleasure around here. But I'm not in denial. Telenovelas are over. PASSIONS is over. Daytime and soaps in general are dying.
Members syxx
Even if Passions doesn't go on, as in new shows...I would like to see SOAPnet air it...instead of playing 90210 back to back...why not air it as one of those hours...starting from the beginning...I know I was really disappointed when they stopped playing Passions on the SciFi network... Members Brandeis
If they went back to day one I'd watch it again.
Members King
Preach it, bell! We're just being realistic. Brandeis, they did that with sci-fi network. It even tanked there. PSNS has built itself up such a RIDICULOUS reputation the last four years in the name of "buzz" that nonsense is now attributed to the name "Passions." That's why it doesn't gain any new viewers. People think it's a joke because that's what NBC and JER wanted them to think. And that's why no networks want to touch it - whether it be in a new format or reruns. There's no money in PSNS. That's why it's getting cancelled. And now one wants to touch something that won't make any money. The only prick here is JER.
Members JER Soaps Fan
Sorry, bell, but I'm with Rion on this. You DID hear about NBC's new survey, right? That extra question about the show's continuing after daytime? In primetime or on cable? Clearly, "Passions" is not necessarily over.
Members JER Soaps Fan
Which is why it makes sense to try out soaps in primetime, so fans aren't disgruntled and take it out against the network. Like King said, old "Passions" could work in primetime. Well, JER wrote that version of the show, so all he needs to do is revamp the show to be supernatural and dark, but slightly campy. Write stories faster and BAM! Excellent companion for "Heroes."
Members JER Soaps Fan
Let's be honest here: the show had a younger following, right? And Nielsens don't count VCRs...who's to say the show, even as a "joke" wouldn't be a huge success with that young following that CAN watch it after school, live, when Nielsen counts? A slight revamp of thes how could do wonders. I believe.
Members syxx
I actually stated that...the thing is though...the ridiculous time it was on...it was on at like 9am...and considering Passions has a large base of teen fans, and in general they gear the show toward a younger audience...(13-18)...most of those people are at school at that time, (like I was)...being the die hard fan I was, I recorded it hehe...But I doubt people would go through all of that...its worth a real chance on SOAPnet...I mean...whats the point of 2 hours of 90210..? I realize its all about money, obviously it is a business...but would 90210 really bring in more ratings than Passions?
Members Brandeis
I know, but the sci-fi network is all anti-soap geeks, Whedon browncoats, buffy fanatics etc. etc. etc. *SERENITY NOW!" I think it stands a chance on Soapnet if it starts from day one - and as long as it DOES NOT replace anything Another World yet again. Yup! No kidding.
