GL: Tammy's Funeral (1-31-07)

So since I was lacking sleep and was weary on watching, I was really glad that I did. TP's performance was great as always but hats off to Zimmer and Raines. I sort of thought that it was smart to pair two powerhouses together for emotional scenes. The ending though was suspenseful.

I don't think that Jonathan is dead nor is Sarah. I think that he's faked his death so that he can have Sarah all to himself. For some reason, I have a feeling that Tammy's death was an act too but after seeing the wonderful drama unfold, it looks doubtful. This could quite possibly be the Emmy winning episode. Not only did they have heart wrenching drama, great acting, but a cliffhanger ending as well.

That haunting song (which unfortunately is not commercialy available) which plays in the aftermath of Tammy's death (something about "I can't believe this happened...take me far away") is also very, very effective. The writing, the acting, the score - everything has been near perfect in this storyline!

I had company to show up at 30 minutes into ATWT and stayed until the last 15 mintues of GL. I didn't get to set my tape either. I hate I missed this so much. I did see the last 15 minutes. It was a great show.

does anyone know if that song Take Me Far Away is available anywhere. It is so haunting.

It was a great show.

Nicole Forrester as Cassie was great again. I was surprised by Cassie's comments to Alan about believing he was actually sorry for what happened, and saying that the church was God's house and everyone was welcomed, followed by Reva saying you're lucky it's not my house...Jonathan's eulogy was amazing and the poem read as the casket was being taken away was very moving.

Jonathan mentioning that Alan didn't throw a flower in Tammy's grave would have been more poignant if we'd actually seen it, but I still think that overall, it was a fantastic episode. Alan saying that Jonathan's grief was just an act and he'd be on to the next girl in tight jeans soon enough was particularly brutal. He makes me so angry. And he will never learn.

Lizzie's little speech at the end had me glad that she wasn't going to be in Sarah's life. It's the first time I really felt she didn't deserve another chance (once she came to her senses) to be a mom to Sarah.

Since we all know that death is never the end on a soap, watching that car go off the cliff didn't really upset me all that much. They're not dead. Plus, of all the crazy things Jonathan has done over the years, and no matter how unpredictable he can be, there's no doubt in my mind that he would NEVER harm his little girl. He wouldn't kill her to keep her from Alan. Even if it's going to look that way until the story ends.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
