DAYS: New male character

  • Member

From www.nbc.com:

Newcomer Frank Mentier has been cast as "Jed,” a hot transfer student at Salem U. Jed will first air on Thursday, February 22nd.

With Chelsea and Abby going to Salem U as well, I wonder if Jed is the rumored brother of Willow the show was hoping to bring on, and will Abby use him to make Max jealous. There were some rumors that Connor and Abby would hookup, and with Bonnie and Mimi leaving soon, will Jed replace Connor?

I think Hogan has done wonders with Chelsea. I love Nick. I also think that when Mimi leaves, we will start to see abby and max together more. Like Pheonix said, Hogan hasn't made Abby unlikeable at all, just put her on screen more. In fact, I don't think her story has really started yet. I like all of them. Now I don't want the show just about them, but I also don't want the show just about steve/kayla, bo/hope, and john/marlena. I'm enjoying the show more now than I have in a long time.

Hogan's very first character he creates (Willow) is so hated, and yet he decides to create a brother for her?

Its very familliar to Nicole and Brandon. Nicole was not popular when Brandon was introduced, but both found their purpose.

I seriously don't get why people are fuming over them adding a new character, not related to anybody. Thank god he's not part of a core family! I for one am sick of Days constantly introducing a new Horton, so he/she can boink a newly introduced Brady. Days constant inbreeding is what led to Alexis Thorpe's character being a relative of every single man in Salem her age range!

Horray for fresh blood!

I ended up LOVING Brandon AND Nicole by the time they both exited the show....keeping in mind I absolutely LOATHED them when they were first brought on and even for awhile after that!

Just because we hate a character now, doesn't mean we will later on...Nicole and Brandon are PERFECT examples of that!!

I would give my right arm to get Ari back as Nicole (and SO MANY others would too it seems....which is funny considering how many people were calling for the axe in her first 1-3 years on DAYS).

I am warming to Willow a bit, I like that they have made her a villain....it has made her more tolerable. I don't LOVE her, but I don't HATE her as much as I did after her first week (I actually like her first two-three episodes).

The writing for her has improved and if they are going to take her down the villainey side, then I say go the whole damn way!

It's still amazing how some people just do not get it. There should be no new faces until all the storylines with the current cast have been PLAYED OUT! The show is dangling by a thread. A THREAD.

Abby has a love interest.

Chelsea has a love interest.

We don't need another person that age!

I get it. I'm very, very worried right now. And I'm usually an extremely optimistic person.

Given how much the vets are being used and how AB (Willow) is on contract and hardly on, I'm not too concerned.

Plus, he starts right at the END of sweeps, so if he is a bust, it won't be as bad as if he started Feb 1.

I actually don't really mind Willow. I did, at first. But she's a wh*rey, b!tchy, mean-spirited, delusional c*nt, and I think you need a character who is that hateable on the canvas. She's not being shoved down our throats. And I am grateful for that.

I like Nick, and I'll probably like Jed. I don't mind Benjy. But that doesn't mean they should be there! Ratings and money. Ratings and money. Ratings and money. Hoagie should be repeating that to himself on a daily basis.

I think if Willow was played by someone OTHER than AB, I could tolerate her a little more. It's the same thing with Mimi/Farah. The actresses are painful to watch and listen to. It's very hard to like a character when you dislike their portrayer.

That's why I love her, King. Sure, she's a new character, and I hated her when she first came on. I thought that we were going to be seeing this prostitute on a daily basis and she would be nothing but a Jan Spears redux. That wasn't what happened. She was balanced in with the rest of the cast thanks to Hogan.

And Bree, I'll tone down my "obnoxiousness" when the rest of the members on this board do. Thanks!
