Well I guess I am officially done with AI. I mean this should not have happened at all. Melinda with out a doubt should be in the final. I hate when America votes cause they do crap like this but why am I surprised last year Tayer Hicks and well Sanjaya still in the the top ten.

Taylor still has his RABID fans. Probably a dwindling group but unfortunately, I'm in a group with some of them and I cannot stand their crowing about their idol. Blind and deaf. Anyway now they are crowing about voting Blake through. The problem is that there are not enough people who care who do vote because they are not RABID. If Jordin is excellent in the finale, I'll break a standard and vote my fingers off for her and suggest everyone who wants her to win over Blake do the same. Unfortunately, most folks who win an election win it because of RABID supporters and those who aren't motivated enough to vote, suffer the consequences...........harumph, off my bandstand now.

Everybody thought Melinda was so IN...so people were voting like crazy for Blake and Jordin (thinking they weren't safe) taking for granted that Melinda might go home. I thought about voting for Melinda last night, but then I thought to myself there's no way she's going home even without my calls. Sigh. It would have been a truly fantastic finale with Jordin and Melinda (best ever!), but since it's not to be - Jordin all the way! Melinda will kick butt even without the win.

I don't think we have ever had a stunning elimination in the final 2. It usually happens sooner then this. Plus, I think this was the first time in the final 3 that the person who went last left. Usually it was the person who went first. Hardly ever does the person who sang last get voted out.

On other boards, the speculation is that the producers, particularly Nigel, wanted Melinda out because ratings have been sagging and her getting to the finale may be too easy to predict. Plus, they get the young demo for the finale now. I doubt this because they pimped Melinda last night. They gave her the pimp spot on the show. I think people just thought she was safe based on last night. I mean, it does seem like she was in the bottom with Lakisha last week so I just think her fans didn;t vote as hard. Whatever the case, this year has to go to Jordin. I have said it since auditions that Jordin will win it. I love Melinda and she will do fine. I still hate this but I guess she may be better off. Jordin needs to belt it out next week and I think she will. The usual Idol ballads are tailer made for her. I will be voting and I think all those who want to salvage this season need to vote for her too.

I just hate that we won't have the finale we should've. Simon looked so mad, as did Randy. Ugh.

Oh, and on another note, who gave Jordin and Melinda the flowers?

Phoenix, did you notice Simon tonight? I know you mentioned sometime back about how the lead in to the elimination could tell if it would be a surprise. Even though Ryan remarked a couple of weeks ago that no one knew the results except Nigel and him, I think that was not true tonight because Simon was PALE and distraught looking from the beginning of the show. He really looked despondent. I think Melinda had a good idea what was going to happen. She was very gracious. It was good to see Elliott there who finished third in Season 4. proving that life just gets better from there. We'll be seeing Melinda again, too, and definitely hearing about her.

Katherine McPhee doesn't have a career. She has one single, and it stinks. And she's mentally INSANE.

But Ruben and Fantasia have proved winning this competition isn't everything.

Melinda fans are so going over to the Jordin side.

Blaker Girls suck! Get a life, losers!

FUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

YOOOOOOU.

AMERICA!

First, Maroon 5 sucked tonight. Yuck!

I'm thrilled for Jordin, because I thought for sure that she would go home tonight, so I was relieved when they told her that she was safe. I feel terrible for Melinda, though! She was, by far, the most consistent performer of the entire season. She's not the best vocalist, but there was never a single song that she really performed badly... that should've earned her a spot in the final two, IMO.

Can anyone actually say that Blake would still be there if his little fan-girls didn't think he was "cute?" I mean, if he was some ugly Elliott Yamin-looking mofo, he would've been gone weeks ago! The only reason he's still there is because he makes panties wet all across America, and that's no reason to win. He's fantasic at beat boxing, but when it comes to his actual SINGING vocals -- and this IS a singing competition -- he sucks! Sometimes I wonder if I'm listening to his performances with the same ears as everyone else, because I just don't understand how I could think he sucks so badly while others think he's the best thing since Frank Sinatra.

Jordin and Melinda returning to their hometowns got me a little teary-eyed, LoL. They seemed genuinely surprised and touched at all the support. Blake, on the other hand? He just acted like a rockstar, as if he's used to people falling at his feet on a daily basis. Cocky little bitch.

Did y'all notice Blake's reply to Ryan Seacrest when he was asked whether or not it was a dream come true to perform with "Sir Mix-A-Lot?" He just nonchalantly shrugged and replied that he's 'performed with him before,' as if he's used to performing stars because he's a 'star' himself. Get over yourself, you little pissant!

Meanwhile, what's with people remarking on Jordin's weight? I've looked on other message boards and people are ripping her apart, saying that "nobody wants a fatass idol." WTF? If you think she's a terrible singer, fine... but her weight has nothing to do with it. She's not fat, anyway! Curvy, yes... fat is definitely an overstatement.

Either way, it's Jordin and Blake in the final two. Regardless who wins, they're both going to have careers in music, IMO. I'm not sure which will be the more successful of the two, but they'll both release albums, definitely. I'm sort of hoping that Jordin loses (though she deserves to win and get the spotlight in the finale), that way she has a chance to go around and choose between all the various record labels rather than being stuck having to put together a cliche American Idol album. Wouldn't it be funny if Blake won the whole thing and they didn't give him any "artistic freedom" and he wasn't allowed to beat box even once on his album? That'd be fantastic!

Oh, did anyone notice Ryan's little slip-up tonight? Right before a commercial break, he said, "Coming up next, Melinda goes home!" I know he meant that they were going to show clips from her return to her hometown... but the way he worded it has many people curious.

Katharine McPhee's career is just starting. She's very talented and beautiful. Her single "Over It" is very good. It didn't get the airplay it should've. It did make #22, a nice start in a promising career. Taylor Hicks has NEVER made the POP 100/Top 40 Mainstream Airplay charts!!!!!!!!!

Ruben Studdard did well on the R&B/Urban charts and is still doing good on the Urban AC charts. Fantasia is doing very well on the R&B/ Urban charts.

Don't count on it King. A lot of Melinda fans, and I am a major one as well, are PISSED AS HELL that the over-rated cute teenbopping cow Jordin got in the finals instead of Melinda and will vote even stronger for Blake. I am definitely gonna vote as many times as my phone can dial to keep that over-rated cutesy teen cow from winning.

Sorry Blake's fans aren't just girls. They are many, including a lot of guys. I see a lot of guys liking Blake. I know several coworkers like Blake, of differing ages, including some in their 40's and I'm a 37 year old guy myself.

Also King, you conviently overlook that YOUR Jordin is a 17 year old TEEN her damned self! A lot of those teeny girls that you've been blaming for Blake staying on the show, are voting for damn Jordin.

King, everyone's entitled to their opinion and I'm sick of hell of your wishing Blake would die and calling those who voted for King names. Talk about childish! I stooped to your level a few posts back and just did that to give you a tast of your own medicine.

If Jordin wins IDOL next week then I'm done with IDOL period. I was pissed 3 years ago when Diana DeGarmo who couldnt hardly carry a tune wound up in the finals (Thank God America wisened up and Fantasia won!!). I was pissed 2 years ago when Carrie Underwood won over Bo Bice (even though I'm now glad she won since Bo has sold out). I was very, very, very pissed last year when Chris Daughtry went home in 4th place and Taylor Hicks won (I still think that last year's season was fixed). And now another horrrible outcome with Melinda (whom Simon ID'd correctly as the most consistent this season) going home and Jordin(who's highly, highly, highly overrated and needs voice lessons and has been downright horrible in 3 shows this season) is in the finals and may end up winning. If Jordin does, then I'll have a lot of free time starting in January of 08!

Cow? Psssh!

People aren't pissed that Jordin won over Melinda. They're pissed that Blake won over Melinda. Plus, it came down to those two, so it's going to send a subconscious message to voters that Blake's the one who took Melinda's spot rather than Jordin... and I'm glad it happened that way. :) More Blake hate!!

I noticed that and mentioned it. I took it that he knew the results of the vote and accidently let it slip out. Later in the show Melinda was elimianted and I wasnt surprised

Im upset Jordin stayed over Melinda bc I called a Melinda vs Blake showdown from the beginning and was really expecting to see it. All 3 were great and I would have been fine with either win, but I definetly have my preference

    • Today's episode was excellent. Clearly it was confrontation day and they didn't disappoint. I'm glad they didn't forget Mona in all of this and gave us an opportunity to see how she's dealing with this. A major highlight for me were the Kat and Martin scenes. Their chemistry is off the charts and I don't understand why we haven't gotten more of this. I love how they take turns calming each other down. They feel really well matched and believable as siblings. Speaking of siblings, they anvils were dropping strong that Kat and Eva are twins but I do wish someone would mention that they are essentially hood twins which might throw people off the scent.  I'm one of the people who enjoyed Joey and the gambling storyline so it was nice to see him again. It was nice to see different characters like Mona and Eva in that element instead of the usual players. When Doug arrived I don't know what hit me but I just see a funeral in his future. He seems so hopeless and has the worst luck. I just can't see him surviving the year at this rate.
    • In fiction there has become an expectation by some that every Black character should represent excellence and perfection. It's not like we are talking about a Tyler Perry show where none of the characters are happy and everyone hates each other with a passion.
    • And on rewatch, I could've done without the unsubtle praising Matt like he was the only one who ever accepted Van as she was...but TPTB and their agendas.  It was totally in character for Vanessa to shut down emotionally until she was alone. While she could be volatile, both she and Henry believed in keeping emotions private.  Thank God it's still Bryan Buffinton in the role for both Henry's and HB's funerals. It just wouldn't have been the same with Ryan Brown, who couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. Roll My Eyes.
    • I can probably believe the Spauldings reacting that way, as Alan barely cares about anyone but himself and maybe his family, while Amanda only had that one experience with the Coopers, but I see your point. I do think 1997 was a better year than the last 3-4 before it, for whatever that's worth. You are right about Marcus. Kevin Mambo winning two Emmies (the latter during periods where he had nothing to do) helped.
    • I think @Darn @Faulkner and others have a fair point re: it being an unfortunate look and coincidence. I can see their point about the two Black husbands in rapid succession, without much time in between. Frankly, based on the early casting notices I thought before the show's debut (and I still suspect) that Ted's crimes might be far worse than infidelity or a secret baby. That would've mixed it up more. It's a soap, people are going to cheat, but it might've given them more variety if Nicole was stepping out first. Still, I wouldn't trade the Leslie/Eva reveal material for anything right now. Still, Fanfic Account #3 is just looking for any weapon to attack the show for not accepting his unsolicited scripts. When it's not the husbands it's Martin, or Chelsea or Dani. He's seething it got renewed.
    • I'm pretty sure Lucy and Bridget never even have another scene together for the rest of the time they're both on the show. Bridget isn't even invited to the wedding! The lack of community feeling and continuity of non-romantic relationships during this period is very jarring. Characters suddenly only seem to interact with a handful of other characters, rather than characters across the canvas. I'm deep into 1997 in my watch right now and find that it's even stranger because the show goes back and forth between ignoring history in order to manufacture some kind of separation between characters (for example, at one point Amanda refers to the Coopers as a family that the Spauldings "barely know," despite her and Alan spending the better part of 1996 going to war with Buzz over 5th street, and Alan has absolutely no reaction when he finds out about something bad that's happened to Abby, which seems pretty out of character given how close they were in 95/96) and ignoring history in order to create a sense of community that doesn't quite fit (characters who couldn't stand Amanda are suddenly acting all buddy buddy with her). The wheels really feel like they're coming off in 1997 (although I know some would argue that the wheels started to come off years earlier). Watching the Marcus/Dahlia romance again from a 2025 perspective is so weird. Marcus is a full grown man who must be at least in his mid-20s and he's dating a teenager who is not only still in high school, but is still fully a year away from graduation, and no one says anything about how creepy that is. I feel like the buzz around Marcus gave the illusion that the show was more invested in him than it ever actually was. Even during his "big" story where he's arrested for Cutter's murder, he actually doesn't appear on screen very often. He's imprisoned, Griffin is brought on, other characters make a fuss about trying to get him out, but there's a long stretch of time where he doesn't appear at all. I've been keeping episode counts while I watch and between Cutter's death in mid-November of 1995 and the end of the year Marcus/Mambo only appears 7 times (and of that only twice in December).
    • The letter reading was very emotional, and Maeve really got to me too. I was a little worried because Vanessa doesn't give a speech at the funeral, which surprised me, but then we got the private letter reading and her true emotional reaction and I was satisfied there. The YouTube channel I watch these episodes on (if not on our Vault), also had upset commenters talk about how Nola's line about Henry not accepting her at first/seen as a gold-digger was totally untrue. It's sad the writers don't do their homework and give fans the respect (and the characters respect). And yep, Bill got up and spoke at the funeral too, which was nice.  I didn't even realize that was Sharon Leal until you said it!  I had to Google it. I loved Sharon Leal in Boston Public back in the day haha. LOL at your Reva/Josh ALWAYS commentary. What is RME though?
    • Leslie is an extreme liar and manipulator. I'm not sure what her point was in trying to convince Nicole she wasn't trying to hurt her. As much as Eva did help orchestrate the entire plot I feel like there was too much piling on. Eva never said she wanted to be a Dupree so Anita was extremely out of line for that comment.

That's positive and something to look forward to for sure, because you're right, 1996 so far isn't nearly as good as 1995. Ohh - what is Lonatrat?  Sadly you're probably right. I did feel like David was rarely seen once Marcus came on. That would have been an interesting spin, having Frank and Tina be teenage lovers and Dahlia really being his daughter. I'm getting the sense that Tina won't be seen too much anymore, as she just left Dahlia with Frank/Eleni as she's heading to jail for a while. I like the Tina actress too!  Her voice sounds a bit like Rosie Perez to me, which I love. I tried to find her online, but coming up empty. This was the only thing I could find about Tina Crede - a character snapshot video with clips and stills of her (randomly starting just before the 1:00 mark):

That's wild that the David actor is nearly 40 here! Definitely surprises me.
    • 5-6   Meh. It already looks like a scattershot week.    5-5 was actually a good episode. Damian and Lily. Phyllis finally going on the warpath that I knew she could get on with Billy and Sally. Nate started to question Audra and Victor's alliance. And I was not even bugged by Kyle and Claire.   But then there's Cole's off-screen story. Kyle and Claire going back to being whiny. And them even wanting Adam's penthouse just sounded like trying to keep the set around. And Diane shouldn't even give a flying frak about Billy's opinion. And Tessa, Daniel, and the guitars...yeeeah no.   But hey...JM looked good in that short. And those pants.  I agree. One of Y&R's good points with fans has always been that you do at least see the vets. And IN stories.
