AMC has now gotten recognition from both WGA and DGA in a year that by most, including me, was regarded as one of the worse years in the shows history.... does this mean the Emmy's are gonna shower them with love too? This will tell Frons "things are fine and his vision is the right one" Part of me wants major snubs just so it will be another reason to change things. Like as much as I am happy to see these people getting recognized (Casey Childs is an awesome director).... its just too much love for a show that wasn't very good (certainly not as good as we all know it could be) isn't a good thing.....

Y&R wasn't nominated but show destroyer Ellen Wheeler was!? How's that for her big ego? Wheeler is a better actress than she is an EP and director. Go back to acting, Wheeler! If GL really wants to win the 2008 Outstanding Drama Series, then Wheeler & Kreizman must be gone & Swajeski should be demoted.

Y&R has a great improved directing team; Noel Maxam and Andrew Lee should have been the ones nominated instead of Wheeler & Mertes. See what I said, the media & the entertainment industry are doing everything to prevent GL's cancellation by PGP. When in fact they should be focusing on IMPROVING the show.

GH has an outstanding directing team & I'm glad Ludel & McKinsey were recognized. But what about Owen Renfroe? :(

AMC's OVER-RATED Mardi Gras ep will not, thankfully, give them a win.

OLTL's team is very good too, better than AMC.

WILL WIN: GH's Ludel or McKinsey

SHOULD WIN: GH's Ludel or McKinsey

It's lost everything that made it grandiose. The swiping camera shots, the close-ups on vases, mirrors, decanters, etc. The slow build into a scene, where you weren't instantly thrust into the action. It's not "special" anymore, it's just very good soap directing. And Y&R used to be above "very good".

Looks like the two OLTL episodes were the following...

This was the Monday, May 29th episode:

abc.com recap:

Todd's execution begins when the governor refuses to grant a stay. After saying his final goodbyes to Viki and Evangeline, Todd tells Blair he'll never forgive her. Starr makes a scene outside the prison when she learns Spencer is going to watch Todd die and later sobs in Dorian's arms. Blair is stunned when Spencer arrives to witness the execution. John and Natalie go to extremes to try and get to the prison in time to stop the execution. John arrives at the prison as Todd is given the third and final injection. Todd's heart stops beating. Rex and Adriana are concerned about Starr. Jessica struggles to come out so she can help her family. Reston warns Nash to leave Llanview. Nash confronts Claudia, who claims to know nothing about her father's threats. Antonio kisses Tess in an attempt to bring Jessica out.

This was the Friday, October, 6th episode:

abc.com recap:

John's family and friends gather to say their final goodbyes. Natalie clings to a shred of hope that John is still alive. Nash agrees to continue building a friendship with Claudia, who covers her urge to drink. Nash is thrilled when Vincent decides to invest in the vineyard. Dorian agrees to go to John's funeral with David. Adriana pushes Dorian's buttons. Asa is unsettled when Bo mentions Spencer and New Year's Eve. Asa becomes agitated when Nigel questions him about the mysterious photograph.

Looks like this is the episode from AMC...

This is the Tuesday, February 7th episode:

abc.com recap:

Ryan works to convince Kendall that Zach caused the blackout that occurred on the night she was inseminated at the clinic. Zach arrives as Ryan explains the truth to Kendall. Janet corners Erica in a private room at the gala. Jamie, Babe and JR confront Amanda with their suspicions. The blackout triggers Amanda to remember that JR was driving the car that ran her down. Greg warns Josh not to hurt Erica. Jonathan sneaks away from the ski lodge and joins Lily at the ball. Aidan and Erin grow closer.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
