That's right Jsf, Passions writing is great when JER is running on all cylinders. Heck PSNS has the same number of Writing Nominations as B&B and it's been on for twenty years compared to PSNS eight years.

Dang, Rick, a lot of people tell me I'm a "Passions" expert because I know all the stories, the trivia, most of the wardrobe (by scene) and those things. But I have nothin' on you when it comes to the stats on award shows, ratings and the other important info.

Most of us would like to see Passions stick around, and it has NOT yet been cancelled. We do want changes though, particularly the pacing and such...

I don't want Passions cancelled, and hope it gets renewed, but want changes and speaking of that here's something I realized:

If it gets renewed, changes HAVE to be made. We want Passions to last, but if barely anything happens between 2007 and 2008 I am almost positive it will get cancelled next year. So, really, even though the current point of focus is to save it from cancellation, after that we better hope for changes or enjoy the last year we have of daytime peace.

PSNS is not gone yet, but it's a strong possibility that it will be gone in July. We are supposed to hear it's fate by the end of this month.

I honestly don't believe that Passions will be cancelled--and certainly not within the next month. I base my opinion on the following things:

*For one thing, NBC Universal syndication already cancelled the Megan Mulluly (spelling?) show. While this show is syncidated, I read that 95% of all local stations that aired this show were NBC stations. Therefore, this extra hour is already available for the Today Show.

*When I did an internet search regarding this matter, there were articles that dated as far back as July that mentioned that NBC is considering a fourth hour of the Today Show. Therefore, this news is not as recent as one might think (despite the fact that this news again appeared in December).

*I do have to rely on history here, and history shows that NBC has always been willing to give JERk a virtually unlimited number of "second chances." The fact that JERk has always blown his second chances has never before deterred NBC from giving him even more of them.

*Last year (which was a year where Passions' ratings fell more sharply than this year) there were also serious rumors about cancellation, yet it never happened.

*And--if Passions is to go off the air this summer--the announcement would certainly not be made now, since usually a gap of only about three months exists from the time a cancellation announcement is made to the time the final episode airs. In fact, there has not even been confirmation that a fourth hour of the Today Show will premier in September. Therefore, the following events would occur if Passions is indeed cancelled: First, an announcement would be made that the Today Show will expand to four hours; then, several months would go by in which nothing is publicized; when May or June rolls around, the official cancellation announcement would be made; and Passions would air its final episode in late August or early September.

Actually, my own personal belief (which is based just on my gut instincts) is that Passions won't be cancelled until at least 2009, when the tenth anniversary occurs and DOOL is up for renewal as well. If DOOL can find another network, and JERk blows more of his second chances (which, based on past history is guaranteed to happen), there's a chance that NBC might finally cancel Passions that year.

For one, PSNS is a show, not a human being. And wishing cancellation on a show is not the same as wishing death on someone.

Since it's debuted, PSN has had the worst writing team in daytime, as well as ensemble. The scripts are cliched, contrived, convoluted, unoriginal. To sum it up: cringe-worthy. The show has had its moments, but at their best they were NEVER able to top the worst days of Y&R, GH or any other drama. (DAYS is the only exception)

Definitely JER. As someone who knows his work like the back of my hand, I can truly say that it's definitely JER. All you have to do is look at Days before, during and after his second tenure. Before, it was boring, but not coated in LSD. Then JER arrives... and you can notice a big change in dialogue. Not only the stories, but the actual dialogue. The characters went from having realistic conversations to wording things in a way that just sounds so unnatural -- just like on Passions. Viewers of both shows will know exactly what I'm talking about. The characters sound more like walking robot synopses than characters. Then, as soon as JER left, like the snap of a finger, it snapped back to normal again.

Meanwhile, Passions has had that same ridiculous dialogue since its debut, even though they have a completely different writing team than Days.

The only common denominator is JER. He's the issue. He's the cancer.

I used to watch 9 American soaps a day, but I've narrowed it down to only Passions now. Normally, I watch B&B regularly when home and catch snippets of Y&R and DOOL.

PSNS definitely is the most humorous and light-hearted - both intentional and unintentional.

That is perhaps the worst thing. It's bad enough the stories are bad for the most part but all the rape and attacks makes it worse and very hard to tolerate. It's both appalling and insulting.
