September 7, 200718 yr Author Administrator DAYS: - Fran F. Bascom last listed as Casting Director on September 5 - Marnie Saitta first listed as Casting Director on September 7 Has anyone seen any pics of Marnie? I was surprised to find out she's pretty hot.
September 7, 200718 yr Member Toups, is Dena still in the credits? If she is, I really hope she'll be gone next week. We've been waiting too long.
September 8, 200718 yr Member RSinclair: She goes by Kathryn Foster Glad that DOOL is FINALLY getting a very worthy Co-EP (E.J. Scott). Just wish that he was EP instead. Also, the new additions will no doubt benefit the show: Foster, Maxam (wish he would direct more instead of produce), Saitta. But what about the other ex-Y&R staff. A lot of writers left, but have yet to land on other shows. Doesn't Bradley Bell want them like he does McCaffrey, Ferri Esser & Alden? ATWT had a rocking writing staff when Sheffer was HW. My goodness, how amazing they were!!!!! LOVED 2001-2003. Yes, they weren't always great, but at least the vast majority of the stories were entertaining. I only wish that I could write scripts half as good as many ex-ATWT 2000-2004 writers. If Sony/NBC are committed to DOOL's success, they should lure more of those writers to DOOL. How long before Susan Dansby & Courtney Simon reunite with their ex-colleagues? Was shocked to find out that Milstein was fired. Was money a factor? We all know that the show's budget undertook massive cuts upon renewals in 2003 & 2006.Or did she quit? If so, is she retiring? I hope not. Daytime Emmy Award winners under Sheffer (From IMDB) 2001: As The World Turns: Hogan Sheffer (Head Writer); Leah Laiman (head writer); Carolyn Culliton (co-head writer); Stephen Demorest (associate head writer); Hal Corley (associate head writer); Stephanie Braxton (associate head writer); Jeff Beldner; Tom Casiello; Susan Dansby; Judith Donato; Lynn Martin; Richard J. Allen; Judy Tate; Laura Maria Censabella; Marie Masters; Courtney Simon; Karen Lewis 2002: As The World Turns: Hogan Sheffer (head writer); Carolyn Culliton (co-head writer); Jean Passanante (co-head writer); Stephen Demorest (associate head writer); Hal Corley (associate head writer); Stephanie Braxton (associate head writer); Jeff Beldner; Tom Casiello; Susan Dansby; Judith Donato; Lynn Martin; Richard J. Allen; Judy Tate; Marie Masters; Courtney Simon B&B: What happened to David Shaughnessy? Does he only direct for half the year (every other month)? Passions: Who'll be writing for the show on DirectTV? Will some of the writers return to their previous shows (ie. GL/DOOL?)
September 10, 200718 yr Member Too bad Roger Newman isn't on Passions anymore. I would love for him to come back to GL. Maybe we can get back Nancy Williams Watt too? (Haha... I know, I know. Budget. Never gonna happen. But I like to dream...).

I know, I know. Budget. Never gonna happen. But I like to dream...). Damn you, Dan. Always trying to poach my Passions writers. LOL Who else do you want, eh? Pete Rich? Gail Lawrence? Peggi Shibi? You want those ex-GL writers, don't ya.
September 10, 200718 yr Member B&B: What happened to David Shaughnessy? Does he only direct for half the year (every other month)? He's always been an occasional director doing a bulk of episodes every two months or so. His most recent B&B episode aired last Thursday and at least another 1 or 2 will air this week...
September 10, 200718 yr Member Sony desperately needs to give Shaughnessy a call, to ship him back to Y&R as EP. Does anyone know why he left Y&R in the first place? Were those idiots at Sony exerting too much corporate interference? Edited September 10, 200718 yr by Y&RWorldTurner
September 10, 200718 yr Member Yes, Y&R needs him, but he won't be back anytime soon. Also, I think Ed Scott is overrated, but he sure is better than Wyman. Just remember, I don't think he's a miracle-worker.
September 10, 200718 yr Member Yes, Y&R needs him, but he won't be back anytime soon. He was an occasional director on Y&R up to last year, wasn't he? I know he still cares for the show at least a bit. LOL! I want him back damn it! I just hopes Sony/Bell Dramatic realizes the error of their ways and give David that needed call! He also seemed to get on very well with the cast... Also, I think Ed Scott is overrated, but he sure is better than Wyman. Just remember, I don't think he's a miracle-worker. He's wonderful but I agree, it was easy to notice the slight slip on Y&R after Bill Bell left the day to day duties. When Shaughnessy was promoted to EP, he re-energized the show and 2001-2004 were definitely the best Y&R years post Bill Bell IMO. Also, it was thought Shaughnessy that Y&R won it's first Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in the post-Bill Bell era.
September 10, 200718 yr Author Administrator How is Ed Scott considered "overrated?" I mean just look at what he did when he was EP from the mid 80's to 2001. He maintained the excellent production values that he inherited from John Conboy and Wes Kenney. If Ed sucked as a producer, those production values would've gone down hill when he become EP, but they didn't. DAYS - Noel Maxam first listed as Producer on September 10
September 10, 200718 yr Author Administrator Toupsy, is Kathy Foster on Days' official directing team or is she an occasional director for the show? I notice that the Sony credits have listed Ed Scott and Noel Maxam, in their respective positions, but Kathy isn't mentioned as apart of the directing team. Alright, I went back and checked my notes from a few weeks ago and I was told she's going to be regular director. Sorry I forgot about that little tibit.

If Ed sucked as a producer, those production values would've gone down hill when he become EP, but they didn't. Never forget that Bill was also the exec producer and it was his vision Ed executed. Ed was just a man for production in terms of finances, some hirings and so on, but he didn't exactly that much influence writing and the overall feel and look of the show. Also, you said it yourself - he didn't evolve, he just preserved. Of course, DOOL work will show what he can do. That is a challenge, not to keep such a hell of a good show as Y&R on top.
