Monday's "As The World Turns"

I was kind of surprised that Hal didn't get an on-screen funeral, I don't know how I feel about this whole thing, but there has to be a lot of varying emotions on set about Ben's death. Sadness, pain, anger - it would have been hard for cast and crew to get through those scenes at a funeral and maybe that's why they didn't show one. It would have been to painful for everyone. Or maybe they didn't think Hal was that important of a character. TPTB had to deal with the situation as quickly as they could and then move on. I, personally, always loved Hal. I do know that I will always remember the character fondly and he was an important character to me.

I liked nuAdam almost right away. It's rare for me to like an actor on a soap from the very beginning. They usually take some getting used to, but he has a certain special something that I look forward to seeing again.

Best moment of the day was Gwen grabbing the cheque out of Jade's hand. Damn right she's taking that money. I wish Jade would disappear.

I would definitely be opposed to killing off Margo, but I think that Tom and Margo can separate again...last time they did wasn't even that eventful anyway. Besides, they've never even been divorced. Since the writers obviously can't give couples storylines w/o them breaking up or causing some sort of strain on the marriage (ie. Carly/Jack, Lily/Holden, Mike/Katie, Gwen/Will), then I'd rather have Margo and Tom separate just so that the characters can actually get a storyline.

At the same time, though, we always hear of how close the ATWT cast and crew are, so maybe, like everyone has said, that it's just too difficult for them to get through these types of scenes. I really don't know though. This show is either amazing or a disappointment to me...there's never a happy medium anymore.

I understand them possibly not doing an on-screen funeral as to respect Ben's family and the cast, but they could of at least given a better send-off.

Anyone know who directed and wrote the script for Tuesday's episode?

I've got to chime in that I'm liking the new Adam. He's coming across very natural in the role.

From what I've seen and read online, (haven't been watching ATWT for the past two days)...they're all treating Adam like a king. People are coming up to Adam (i.e. policeman and such) and saying how sorry they are. WTF?! Does nobody care about Will? What about Parker?

Also hated how Craig had to stick his nose into every aspect possible.

TPTB had to deal with the situation as quickly as they could and then move on.

Quickly? They had three or four months to plan the tribute and all we get is ONE episode with a handul of flashbacks?

And then the next day...Will and Gwen are fighting off Jade again, Emily and Craig are planning their revenge on Oakdale, Meg is playing see-saw between Paul and Craig, Katie is sticking her nose into Carly and Simon's oddly flirtacious, yet non-sexual relationship, and Dusty is being a butthole all over again.

A few days late, but I'll jump in anyway:

I was feeling most characters, especially Barbara. But the SECOND Emily started with her shrilling and hysterics for "MY HAL!" it took me out of the whole thing.

First of all, she's treated Hal like crap for th last 18 months or so.

I'm also annoyed that it was sooooo short. I expected a funeral, a heartfelt eulogy from Margo, Barbara, heck, I'll even tolerate Will. Instead the whole issue was glazed over.

Carly just lost an ex-husband, the father of her son. She moves over from grief to concern towards Simon.

Overall, I'm disappointed. They screwed up bigtime, IMO.

I totally agree with you, WTGH.

Also, has Adam mentioned ANYTHING about Abigail or Molly, who were both last seen headed to California to be with him?

Didn't Adam go to FILM school, suddenly he's young Dr. Dre?

Small details like these bug me.

I love the new Adam too. I am liking the way they are giving Tom something new to do. I think hopefully we might see him more often.

JP is getting bad again all of a sudden about showing the vets. It seems like forever since we've seen Lisa again.

Oh one more thing, can we start back doing the daily threads. I get tired of having to look for the one ATWT thread in the midst of all the others - esp. shows that are still doing daily threads. Usually some shows have 2 or 3 active threads, and ATWT, GL, and Y&R have one and I get tired of having to look for the ATWT thread to make a comment in it about the show. Just a thought.

Killing off Margo would be the biggest mistake this show could ever make. Margo is the next generation matriarch of the show. This would be equal to the mistakes that GL made in killing off first Leslie Bauer and then Maureen Bauer. The only 2 actresses on the show in that age group are Barbara and Margo, and let me tell you I will never buy Barbara as the Nancy, Kim, or even Emma of the show. It would be as bad as AMC trying to sell Erica as that type of character. It just won't work. It doesn't work for Erica and it won't work for Barbara.

I can buy Barbara more than Margo. Barbara may have been evil, but Margo was just a dang dirty 'ho!

Well I guess Kim is a dang dirty ho too. Because she had an affair with her sister's husband. Just by having an affair does not make you a ho. Margo is 10 times a better mother figure than Barbara is or will ever be. You better believe if I had to choose between the 2 of them I would choose Margo.

Add to that Ho thing. Even the saintly Ruth Martin on All My Children would be considered a Ho. Even though she never slept with the man, she even told Tad she was very tempted. And she was.

Many of the Matriarchs have had affairs and that didn't make them Hos.

If I'm not mistaken, Tom & Margo were separated at the time of Adam's conception. And I think that separation was cooked up by Barbara. Of course, I might be confused with another one of Babs' schemes to take Tom from Margo.
