Well I just started watching Tuesday's show, and I am very disappointed now. I thought sure that the Memorial Service would be shown today and give us more of the tribute to Hal.

The show comes on and the Memorial Service is over. Now I take back my benefit of the doubt I gave them yesterday. I thought sure there had to be more to it esp. since Adam didn't come until today.

This is sickening. Goutman is good for ATWT in some ways, but things like this he is so bad for them or any show. He doesn't want any kind of sentimentality at all. (Dang this profanity block because I really want to curse now). Anyway he messed AW's finale, then messed up ATWT's 50th and now he screwed up Hal's memorial. You are losing notches on my best producers in daytime list Goutman.

That sums it all. No memorial service for Hal. Nada, nothing, zero! And Chris Goutman has messed it up big time on big events on ATWT!

We don't even get to see the funural?

Goutman and JP dropped the ball on this.

What a crap tribute to Ben. :(

I totally agree! Do they even have a clue how much this man gave to ATWT and his fans?

I agree with those who think that Goutman needs to go. I think JP is okay. She is more on than off but she needs a co-writer to work with her. I think a co-writer or writers would help her tremendously. But I don't think that Kay Alden is it, and I hope that rumor is not true at all.

I think Carolyn Culliton back would help out JP. As for Goutman, I dont see him as the Great Executive Producer I thought he once was.

Add me to the 'disappointed' camp. They had months to think about how to do this, and as nice and tear-jerking yesterday was, that it was the entire story was weak.

On the upside, I really like the new guy as Adam already, after only 3 scenes. The boy looks like he can ACT, and he and Casey had an easy, believable rapport as younger/older brothers who grew up together. Plus he is very easy on the eyes, particularly with the short-cropped hair. I can readily believe him as a Hughes/Munson.

I think we the audience, and the stories, and Hal, were totally cheated out of a real memorial. Yesterday was very nice and I sobbed my eyes out, but it was too rushed, too short and too informal. We should have had the service today onscreen, with Dr. Bob giving a rousing eulogy even better than he gave for the day player/slasher victims, and Adam should have arrived on time for it so he could have had time with ALL his brothers, including Will and Parker. I mean, he talked to two random day players about Hal, but not his brothers? Lazy writers!

ATWT dropped the ball on this one. Which is surprising, because I thought Jennifer's death was very well dome, and I liked both recent big event stories (the slasher and ice storm), for very different reasons, as well as Craig's return. I can't believe they couldn't do this as well as the others, if not better.

I liked Nu-Adam as well. I believe he has performed on Broadway. So he can act and is easy on the eyes. A very handsome guy. He is believeable as Adam and resembles previous Adam(Craig Lawlor) with his shaved head.

And on the downside again, why wasnt Jordana Brewster brought back as Nikki for two eppys or at least one? I think she would have done at least one appearance considering how highly she spoke of Benjamin.

I feel that CG and JP didn't even give loyal ATWT/Ben Hendrickson fans what they truly wanted to see. Today, it just seemed like they hurried up and glazed over everything regarding Hal. Yesterday, they couldn't dedicate the entire episode to Benjamin; the flashbacks were good, but there could have been a lot more, and today's show should have been a bit more too. Paul got a service for his "death," Jennifer got a memorial service, heck, even the folks that got sliced and diced in the Raven Lake storyline got a service, but Hal's had to be merely discussed as happening?

I much rather have seen more about Hal than watch Craig scheme his latest con on Tom and Margo. And in all honesty, they could have waited another day to show us how Lily will once again turn a deaf ear on Lucinda regarding Jade, only to be played like she was when she first got there.

I was SO mad he didn't get a real on-screen funeral.

That was BULL --!

Jennifer gets a snot filled send off to end all send offs and hell ... even the Raven Lake victims got a better memorial.

That was such bull. Wow. What a huge slap in the face.

We SO didn't need Lucinda/Lily at all today ... or Craig or Emily or Dusty for that matter, IMO. Maybe Emily ... I am beyond pissed.

I totally agree except for the Lucinda/Lily part. They should have been on today but at Hal's funeral. And not fighting over Jade. Although everytime Lucinda and Lily have scenes together they are magic. Goutman and Passanante really missed this up!

There is still a lot for Barbara to do. They just need to tap into it. I mentioned Tom and Barbara and the fact that it has been done. I have thought several times that I would love to see Tom and Barbara have another affair but then again it would involve breaking up Tom & Margo again. I am not ready for that.

Well I would just kill off Margo. Honestly, we can stand to lose Ellen Dolan, she's never been much of an asset to the show. Tom as a middle-aged single guy could be interesting.

Barbara on the backburner isn't a bad thing IMO. She was frontburner the entire time Hogan was HW, and she lost credibility as much as anyone who was frontburner during Hogan. Now every time I see her she's more like the old Barbara. I think they realize now that Barbara was taken too far and they're backing off to let fans forget about that.

Killing off Margo would be the biggest mistake this show could ever make. Margo is the next generation matriarch of the show. This would be equal to the mistakes that GL made in killing off first Leslie Bauer and then Maureen Bauer. The only 2 actresses on the show in that age group are Barbara and Margo, and let me tell you I will never buy Barbara as the Nancy, Kim, or even Emma of the show. It would be as bad as AMC trying to sell Erica as that type of character. It just won't work. It doesn't work for Erica and it won't work for Barbara.

Ellen Dolan is by far my favorite Margo of them all. I didn't care for her alot at first, but she has become my favorite and I think a big asset to the show.

As to the memorial service, a freind and I were discussing it on the phone tonight. I was mad and really going off on the show. He brought up a point I wanted to put here. He wondered if maybe they did it the way they did to make it easier on his family and friends. My friend's dad committed suicide (in fact I helped do CPR on his afterward). He said having personal experience with suicide that he felt it would still be too hard for his family to watch and to deal with even for his character. I know that the funeral and the death was one of the hardest I have ever been too, because it just didn't have to be. But his dad was so depressed, and we just couldn't get through to him.

I remember when Brenda Benet committed suicide, Days didn't even do anything with her character. She just faded out of view. She wasn't on Days as long as BH was on ATWT, but I remember Days just didn't want to do anything as far as death with the character out of respect to Bill Bixby (Benet's husband) and her family.

I just had never thought of it. I think if that is the case then Goutman needs to make an announcement to the fans saying so. Right now it just seems very disrespectful to his fans and to the character.

Killing off Margo would be so wrong. Although Ellen Dolan isnt my favorite Margo. My favorite Margo was Hillary Bailey Smith. Margo hasnt been featured much and she needs to have her own storyline. It has been way to long of a drought.

Maybe there's a point about it being out of respect for Ben's family, and not drawing it out because it's too close to home for the cast and crew. But, that still doesn't excuse the lousy use of flashbacks yesterday. And this isn't the only time the writers have screwed up great potential story either.

Had yesterday been done right, a lot of these complaints wouldn't be complaints.

If you want a character killed off, then kill off the character of Jade. So what that she has a family now; she's still a little ungrateful snot....

If any characters need to be backburnered, it should be Mike and Katie...

I thought about it that way. But Jean P. made a big deal about how they had to do it right. It felt like they took one whole lousy day to come up with the crap they gave his fans! It didnt feel like they put much effort into the tribute.

I remember when JP first joined ATWT, she talked about how she was going to keep fans pleased with her knowledge of the history of the show. I can't tell that she even knows much of the history, especially in the history of Hal...yes, she had some good scenes, but they were so few. If she and CG could come up with an entire episode for the lady vets of Oakdale, giving them flashbacks, then to me, that could have been done for Ben.
