I don't think it's a fluke. The teens probably tuned during ATWT slasher storylines and decide to view more of CBS daytime. That's a good sign that more teens are tuning in to CBS. Whether or not they drop the following week.

Nope I didnt say that. It is just nice to see them up there in that category. Passions constantly hogged up the #1 spot and now they dont even have that. :P And not much teen stuff was on ATWT last week. Y&R and GL have had a lot of 20 something storylines for a while now. The one thing that would me happy would be for CBS to be on top of the 18-49 category. But then again u will say it is a fluke. :P

Btw, thanks Rugrat for your breakdowns of the daily ratings....Top 9 shows of each day. :) And Lskreet for having those ratings bright and early on Thursday. :)

Well, ATWT has been #2 in 12-17 before not sure about AMC. I dont recall. Refering to lately in the ratings. Use to love AMC but I cant get into the new teen scene. And the whole Babe/Josh/JR is stupid. One day JR is jealous for no reason and the next day he is dumb as dirt. The writing is so bad.

REALLY GREAT POST PONZ.

I sincerely hope that NBC is savy enough to give Hogan Sheffer at least a good YEAR before they expect to see big payoffs.

The show is instantly much better and it's moving really well, but it takes time for word of mouth to really spread with the Non-internet, Non-political majority of soap viewers.

Time is needed and NBC needs to really stay back and just put some trust in this man's track record. He's won a bunch of Emmys and raised ATWT from cancellation. I hope NBC doesn't screw up.

I'm not worried in the least. Corday is an excellent EP and since he has gotten his power back from NBC he has shown that he knows what is best for the show. There is no way he is going to screw anything up now.

from about.com

http://daysofourlives.about.com/od/news/a/10000episodes.htm

The concept and inspiration for Days of Our Lives came from Ted and Betty Corday with loving help from Irna Phillips. The shows rights and legacy was been passed down from Ted Corday to his devoted wife Betty in 1966 after he became ill and passed away. Then in 1981, their son Ken Corday officially came aboard, as the second generation of the Corday family to produce the show. It is the longest running family owned and produced soap opera ever.

I think there are many that will disagree with you there. Corday is an okay producer (not an excellent one at all). I fully believe he is one of the big reasons why the show has faltered. He made a great decision by hiring Sheffer, but many of the mistakes he made before JER has caused great problems for the show. Many say that JER is what ruined Days and put it where it is now. But Days problems started with Langan and Corday who turned Days into daytime's version of Saved By The Bell. They just continued on through esp. with Higley. Much of Days core audience left during the Saved By The Bell years. I know I and many I know did. Many of them never came back. I did and enjoyed alot of things after that esp. the Brash/Cwikley time. Hated Higley's time. Even enjoyed the majority of JER (not all but most). The show lost me again this summer while in transition and with some proposed decisions I won't go into again. My main point here is about Corday. His Mom and Dad were excellent (even great), but their son did not get their gift.

You look at the numbers and the age breakdown and you can see how dominant Young and the Restless is. What is really amazing with ABC is that Frons invests so much in those 23,000 12 to 17 year old viewers -- and to no avail. The fact that he goes out of his way to piss off older viewers -- which clearly makes up more than half of ABC's total fanbase is even more amazing.

The chart of ABC declines is Frons' legacy. He has failed as ABCD president.

    • There has been some confusion about Michael & facial burns. Please see this post: https://bsky.app/profile/shallotpeel.bsky.social/post/3lqkrryu54226 I've chosen to put this here instead of the Classic Thread because it is now with the appearance of recast Michael that this has come up. Different places online, including at least one podcast, remarks have been made about how remarkable it is that he is without facial scarring. Other fans say it was clear from the first that he did not have facial burns. What is included in this post is 2 screengrabs where you can see his face at the hospital & a very quick edit of that day in the hospital.
    • Put me in the LOVE KMH camp. As a poster alluded to above, her detractors seem to come from people who first experienced the 80s Emily actress. And that's often the case with soaps, myself included. I enjoy the original actor so much that I just never take to the recast. However, KMH played Emily far longer than the original - for almost 20 years - and when she had great material, she was great. I get the sense she didn't like playing the whiny oh-woe-is-me Emily which was all the material she got from about 1996 until she took over the Intruder in late '99/early '00 and got to play a stronger kiss-ass woman who didn't care what anyone thought of her. (Some would call that a bitch but, if a man was in that role, he'd just be called a smart and savvy businessman.) Her relationship with Hal was great. The transformation was done realistically and I thoroughly enjoyed those years the best out of all. Once the writers decided to break up those two, they went back to writing Emily half the time as whiny and pathetic. I preferred when the writers made her stronger.
    • Hahaha - I do. I've always been the type, though, that can't miss anything. I get FOMO, so I'll not skip episodes or fast forward anything. There are only a few TV shows I've dropped because they got so bad vs. sticking it out to the end.  The promise that GL 1997 is better is what keeps me going. I especially want to see the fallout of Blake's lie about her twins and then Annie's descent which I believe won Watros's Emmy.

    • The rape was in 1979 after they were married. Blake was the result of Holly cheating with him while she was married to Ed. I believe she was born in 1975.
    • No. Ed and Holly were married and having problems. She had an affair with Roger and that's when Christina--Blake--was conceived. The rape happened much later, after Holly and Roger were married.
