Maybe it's the insomnia and that everything is funny but I nearly busted a gut laughing after reading over your preference of underwear for "support." (support for what? It's just like that nude thing--I don't get any of it). And I'm not trying to chastise those who sleep in the nude; I just really don't get it. Unless you're having sex, I suppose, it might make sense. But what if you're alone? Or what if there's no sex? Is it mostly a guy thing? to get turned on? To 'sleep masturbate' because of the erogenous touch of the covers on the genitals? Seriously, I've wondered about this ever since I learned that people actually sleep nude.

It has nothing to do with sex. It is totally a comfort issue for the ones that I know who sleep in the nude. The same with me with underwear. I personally don't like things moving around so that is what I mean by support. That is the nicest way to put it since I am not sure how to say it with the new language restriction we have now.

Other characters I have thought of:

Spencer (love the actor but hate the character: he would wear silk pajamas just to show off

David Vickers: since he wants to be wealthy I would think he would love to wear silk pajamas, but when he doesn't have the money to buy them, he probably sleeps in pajama bottoms

Antonio: nude just like his brother listed in the post above - boxers or briefs only at the most

Nash: boxers

Josh Madden: nude or boxerbriefs

Jamie Martin: nude or boxerbriefs

Luke Snyder (ATWT): boxers

I can only sleep in boxers, nude feels too...nude for me. But my guess (and hope) for my soap crushes would be...

ATWT...

Paul - Nude

Simon - Nude

WeeMike - Nude

Casey - Nude

Dallas - Nude

But really, these are just my predictions. We won't know for sure until soaps show all of these characters sleeping. *prays for the day my prediction comes true*

Oh I can definitely see all those sleeping in the nude. Esp. Simon. That man doesn't even own pajamas.

Oh, you mean actually sleep, not just lounging around the bedroom? If so, I 'sleep' in two things: either pajamas and a T-shirt (if it's cold out--even with the heater on) or boxer briefs and a T-shirt. Occasionally I will take off the shirt. Sometimes it feels okay to do that but sometimes it just feels naked and wrong. Just lounging about, and hanging around the bedroom, regardless of the situation, it's pajamas. I don't like wearing boxers alone in any situation other than rest. That's just WAY too much on display. It's more proper for me to be 'dressed' even while lounging and/or alone.

Again lounging is a personal choice. I hardly ever lounge around my house naked, but I have been known to lounge around many days all day long in my boxers or briefs. Esp. if I know that no one else is coming over. Just love the comfort. I know of many men who have admitted to doing the same. It just goes back to personal choice. And I could see that for some of the characters too. And it makes sense.

I mean how often have we seen Jamie on AMC walk around his apartment in his boxerbriefs. I know some would say it was a ratings gimmick, but I don't think so. I think a guy like Jamie would pretty much stay in his apartment that way most of the time. Same for Rex on OLTL. I see him as the same type of character.

But I couldn't see someone like David Vickers on OLTL or Lucas on Days doing that. Austin or EJ on Days I could definitely see it. I could see both sitting on the couch in their underwear watching a football game or a TV show. Lucas would have his pj bottoms on at the least.

Jason on GH would lounge around his apartment that way. Sonny I couldn't see doing that. He would be in pj's and a robe I'm sure.

It goes down to clothes making the person even down to lounging attire. As I said and it is not a slam to you JSF but I can honestly see that from your character on the boards that you would never lounge around your apartment in your boxers. It would not fit you at all. But many of the posters here would. And after awhile of reading their posts you can get sort of an idea about them, and kind of match certain things to them. All the reasons you say why you couldn't definitely fit you.

I agree with the article so much in praising the costume folks for matching the characters at the time with their attire. I think overall today they do it pretty well okay, but then some of them we never get to see that much anymore. The one thing that I think overall they have always gotten wrong is underwear preferences with men. When I grew up almost every younger guy wore briefs, but all the guys in the soaps wore boxers. Then the trend changed where boxers were the norm for the younger generation while people in my generation still wore briefs. Soaps still had everyone in boxers. Now I think more guys actually wear boxerbriefs than any other style. Thankfully soaps are showing them more. I think they should get even into making that more of an individual thing and give the actors or male characters on soaps a mix up of varieties. I know Passions of all the shows I watch seem to show guys in underwear more than any other soap I watch. But all the guys that I have seen wear boxers. The costume people should do a little variety in that, and give each character a certain style of their own - an individuality.

Along that same line, I remember a new producer taking over one of my soaps back in the 90's. And one of the first things they wanted to do on the show was to fix the hair. They said it seemed like all the women had the same color of hair and some of the guys too. She actually had several of the ladies and men to die their hair a little different shade. We need more producers who think in that way today. Give each character their own personality - right down to little details.

I totally feel you on the hair and underwear thing, as it pertains to matching the wardrobe to characters. There's something admirable about doing that. Digging deeper to make the character genuine. I like that. As for "Passions," I don't know...Ethan wears robes. Luis wears boxers. Chad wears boxers. So does..okay...probably all the rest. But Ethan...Ethan's the little variety, no?
