Daytime Insights for the week of September 18, 2006

The week of 9/18 marks the first week of the 06/07 season and 4q06.

NBC and ABC shared the lead for the week in women 18-49 rating (1.6), with ABC ahead in impression (1,077,000 for ABC vs. 1,038,000 for NBC). CBS was 3rd in women 18-49 (1.4). NBC won the week in women 18-34 (1.7), followed by ABC (1.3) and CBS (1.0). ABC was 1st in women 25-54 (2.0), ahead of CBS (1.7) and NBC (1.6).

Compared to the first week of last season, NBC was down -0.3 in women 18-34, flat in women 18-49, and up +0.1 in women 25-54. DAYS OF OUR LIVES fell to its lowest women 25-54 rating in 11 weeks (when it also posted a 1.9 in the demo).

CBS was down -0.1 in women 18-34 and flat in women 18-49/25-54 versus the comparable week last year. CBS hit its lowest women 18-34 rating since the week of 6/12/06 (also a 1.0), its lowest women 18-49 rating since the week of 6/26/06 (also a 1.4), and its lowest women 25-54 rating since the week of 7/31/06 (also a 1.7). YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS delivered its lowest women 18-34/18-49 ratings since the week of 6/12/06.

ABC was up +0.1 in women 18-34 and flat in women 18-49/25-54 versus the first week of the 05/06 season. GENERAL HOSPITAL delivered an eight week low in women 25-54 (when it also posted a 2.0 in the demo).

In women 18-49, DAYS OF OUR LIVES (1.8) ranked #2, with PASSIONS (1.3) ranked #9, down from #8 last week. Among women 18-34, DAYS (1.8) was #1, ranking first in the demo for the 572nd week out of 580 weeks that it aired. PASSIONS (1.6) ranked 2nd in women 18-34 rating, up from #3 last week. For women 25-54, DAYS (1.9) ranked #5 (tied with BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and THE VIEW), down from #3 last week. PASSIONS (1.2) ranked #12 in women 25-54, down from #11 last week.

The most time-shifted Daytime program of the week was DAYS OF OUR LIVES, which received a 0.13 lift from Live to Live+Same Day in women 18-49 rating. Close behind were YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (+0.12) and GENERAL HOSPITAL (+0.11). The remaining Daytime programs received a Live to Live+Same Day lift of between +0.01 to +0.04.

TNT (0.49 rtg/320,000 impressions W18-49), which airs off-network dramas (E.R., JUDGING AMY, LAW & ORDER), was the #1 cable network for the week in daytime among women 18-49. Lifetime (0.45 rtg/295,000 impressions W18-49), which airs afternoon movies, WILL & GRACE, REBA, and STILL STANDING in daytime, was 2nd. Nickelodeon, the #3 ranked cable network for the week (0.38 rtg/247,000 impressions W18-49), airs children's programming (LAZYTOWN, JIMMY NEUTRON, SPONGEBOB, etc.). All three of the top cable networks for the week are up versus the comparable week year ago: TNT (+36%), Lifetime (+6%), and Nickelodeon (+18%).

Effective with data for 12/26/05, daytime insights will be based on Live+Same Day Ratings. Averages for intervals which span this date are based on a combination of pre-DVR data, Live + 7, and Live+Same Day.

Wednesday September 20

John is able to retrieve Spencer's gun from the water; Spencer is stunned to be arrested for murder; Cristian holds his own against Abbott for a while; Cristian learns he is being accused of throwing the fight; Antonio and Jessica celebrate.

Thursday September 21

John looks to the future as he makes peace with his past; John, David, Hugh and Blair each visit Spencer in jail; Kelly and Blair are doubtful of Dorian's claims of innocence; Adriana wants Dorian to pay for what she did; Kelly and Kevin meet.

Friday September 22

John faces his demons and dreams of a future with Natalie; reality crushes John's happiness; Cristian insists he did not throw the fight; Evangeline asks Todd for help; Blair and Todd confront Spencer; Spencer is shaken by the encounter.

Wow - so there are 4 shows at #3. That hasn't happened in awhile - but what is sad is the rating of 2.5 for the #3 spot!

GH still didn't do well in dailies - that 2.7 helped them out...else else it'd be sitting at #6.

I'm surprised AMC did that well - since the week before was better than this week...oh well.
