Brothers & Sisters: Discussion Thread

Dude, you just realized this, I've been watching brothers and sisters on abc.com since they put those episodes up. They weren't originally there at the beginning of the season, but I guess people like me bugged them alot about putting the episodes on-line and then they did.

Last night's show was pretty good. Major focus on Sarah/Joe/Rebecca obviously - so I missed some of my other favorite characters.

Sad with the Senator and his speech writer. Rob Lowe is so hot.

Anyway - the Rebecca/Joe drama gave us some amazing performances at least. I was happy to know that Joe was more innocent than not. Rebecca totally whored herself out and came onto him. She was so asking for it all. I was liking her, but now she took a step back. I need some redemption out of that girl.

Glad they touched on the Noah/Sarah thing too. It was like they just dropped him after the premiere.

Definitely not a fan of the professor - he's creepy and Nora could do better. Drop that ASAP please.

Missed Kevin and the Senator's brother (Eric Winter)...haha

Last nights episode was one of my least favorites over the past few weeks..But it was still pretty good...Nice twist at the end when we saw what really happened...I'm glad to see Tommy in the previews for next week...And is Eric Winter going to be on again or was he just on the one episode...

WOW! Am I alone?

i felt this was the show where for the first time everything REALLY came together! I've loved this show for a while but felt somethign was slightly missing and while two of my probs are still present (the fac tthe show is SOO millionaire/rich white folk based:P and that Blaitz as a writer is almost as bad as Sorken at trying to make interesting right wing characters and then neutering them so they're basically more liberal than the liberals!) but int erms of fdrama, writing and acting I felt last nigths show was SO strong and nuanced with various story and character points finally coming to a full boil, showing the way every character reacted, etc. REALLY strong, great stuff

What happened to Nora's thing with Treat Williams? Either way while the prof is creepy they could at least show a few redeeming values to make us a bit more invested in him--often times people fall for peopel they know (and peopel watchign know) they shouldn't but there has to be some reason why they're compelled to do so. I don't see it yet.

As for Eric Winters. He's hot and I found the thing with him and Kevin hysterical and so true to Kevin's character but I don't see him as a long term character yet--I dunno. I don't really see the drama potential once they get past their initial probs

I guess it's just me, but I thought this Sunday's episode was the best one ever, Emmy-worthy quality best!

The Sarah/Joe fight was compellingly real.

I loved how Holly knew that Rebecca wasn't Joe's innocent victim as she was claiming. Rebecca might think she can get into the Walkers' good graces by playing the victim, but I'm sure it's gong to backfire on her in the end when she starts manipulating the rest of the family.

Kitty & Senator McCalisster's supbplot about the speechwriter was moving.

I agree that Nora's professor is creepy. I wonder how involved with him she'll get, especially after he used the pass/fail system to coerce her into a date. There must be some rule against that in the college guidelines!

I thought Sunday's episode was pretty darn good. The flashback at the end was a nice touch, proving that Rebecca is just like her whore of a mom. I didn't see the Senator's writer helicopter crash coming and that it was very moving. Everything in this eppy clicked for me except for Nora's professor, but at least the acting in the scenes were top notch.

I thought the Sarah/Joe fight was quite realistic, this show has such an awesome cast. Rachel Griffith(I think that's her name) has just go it going in the acting department.

Even having that little girl fool Kevin while playing Connect 4 was funny.

The previews for next week look excellent!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was a stunning episode. I can see maybe some people not liking it because the Sarah fight felt *so* real?

I do think Holly once again fucked up though--in HOW she approached Rebecca about the kiss. Seeing it from her character's perspective I wouldn't be too hasty to lay too much blame on her either. Certainly callign he ra whore is a joke IMHO--she grew up with no father and not the best or most stable of mothers, and we already know she has had a thing for olde rmen before (probably partly because of lack of male role model)

Just yesterday on TV Guide.com I read that Treat is debuting with a new series on TBT very soon...

Too bad, I miss him on B&S - he needs to come back, with beard though!

I simply cannot stand Professor Literature. It pains me to say, but he's the first character so far on B&S who I can't stand at all. I don't get his appeal, I find him more and more annoying. Peter Coyote and Sally Field don't click for me at all. Too bad because I love me some Nora and the literary story seemed very intriguing...

Thank god the professor is gone. I loved holly/nora's food fight, that b!tch holly had alot of nerve kissing nora's transition man, just because rebecca moved in with nora. An I didn't think nora needed to tell holly that rebecca was staying with her because she is an adult. An I hate that everyone was so mean to joe they have known him for 10 years and known rebecca for like 3 weeks, I don't care if that their sister they don't even really know her. Next weeks episode looks sad and it has to do with Tommy's babies. :(

    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
    • Ashley and Derek have to go- they really throw off the pace of the show.  Today was the first time I fast-forwarded through their scenes. The writing and acting is just bad for both characters.
    • Jon is stuck in a story that isn't popular but with Cady I feel like the issue is that she was clearly thrown in with no real purpose. I still don't understand why she pops up. I recall early on it being said she owned a spa but we've never seen it. That could've been an interesting location for people to meet. She also could've worked better as Smitty's mom, but instead we get this random agent of Dani's who pops up twice a month? A total waste. I mostly agree. I do feel like Jan could be elevated with a name soap actress, someone like Judi Evans or Kassie DePaiva comes to mind, but they're limited to who is in Atlanta. Keeping that in mind I think the current actress is fine.
    • It's great to see. My thoughts might be a little different, but for the most part, I am excited and interested in most of the storylines. Yeah, you're right. This is probably how she (Dani) normally acts. And, I do not like it!  I agree; this is another distraction while she heals her wounds. If I weren't an Eva fan, she helped me root for her even more. As I said a month ago, I hope they take their time with her modeling agency. I would love to see her face a few obstacles before becoming a huge success.
    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
