Maybe McTash doesn't "love" Kendall, but she definitely seems to enjoy writing for this character. She somehow sees Kendall, who has trust issues UP THE ASS, as some kind of big romantic heroine, but I just do not buy it. Since 2002, she's been romantically involved with (or romantically played around with) Ryan, Aidan, Michael, Zach, Jonathan, Ethan, JR, Boyd, and she even shared a kiss with her half-brother Trey.

I can't for the life of me see the appeal of Zach and Kendall as a couple. It's just not there for me at all and they basically took two annoying characters and made them an annoying couple. I don't get that Zach "loves" Kendall. I get that Zach is her fricken enabler and that she "loves" that he doesn't stand up to her whenever he feels like she is doing something wrong. I hate it so much when she goes on her "Zach knows me!" speeches. !@#$%^&*], please, don't even go there. You just like the fact that he doesn't have a problem with the childish [!@#$%^&*] you like to pull.

I don't think it's characters that MMT likes or dislikes. I think it's the viewers that she feels contempt for. I truly think she hates us (because really, there was no excuse for Rylee - NONE). Why else is Babe being forced on us poor, innocent souls?? I've never seen such drivel before in my life.

She is intent on destroying every character that I have loved. I no longer recognize JR, Ryan, Tad, Dixie or David. The list goes on. Everyone is being written badly. I suppose the plus side is that if a character isn't front burnered all the time, it's less likely that they will be completely destroyed. :)

I think it comes down to popularity. Kendall is popular, therefore, she gets the storylines. However, not all her storylines are good.

I can't for the life of me see the appeal of Zach and Kendall as a couple.

For a lot of people, it's purely chemistry. I saw it from the first time they met. TK and AM just play well off each other and it's a joy for me to watch. As to all the men she has been with, well, AM seems to have chemistry with everyone so they tend to try the "men" out on her. She also has inappropriate chemistry with her siblings (Trey and Bianca).

It's just not there for me at all and they basically took two annoying characters and made them an annoying couple.
I don't know about you but when two characters that I can't stand end up together, I get giddy. Less fast forwarding for me. :)

And that is why I love them. Zach knows why Kendall acts that way so he can get past the methods she uses. He understands her motivations because he is just like her. And Kendall loves that he knows how her crazy mind works. That was something Ryan never got. He was always trying to change the way she acted. Look at how he dumped her because she didn't want to work with the woman who almost sent her to the electric chair. How unreasonable Kendall was... ;)

You just described Rendall to a "T" ;)

Hey, I'm not completely against Zendall, BTW. I mean, if we could see more of the stuff that they had for New Year's Eve (the dinner and slow dancing at the casino), I'd be their biggest fan. That was some fresh, romantic, just heart-tingling stuff and I loved every second of it.

But I'm tired of the cycle of something coming between them, them doing a lotta talking, and then that's it, they're back together. I want more action between them. I want to be SHOWN how much they love each other, not TOLD.

I’m pretty sure Rylee was to make us hate Greenlee and for Rebecca Budig to get so pissed that she’d leave. It worked!

I'm with you completely, Zach and Kendall are a bore. I love how Kendall is getting closer to Ryan now that Zach/Dixie are faking an affair.

I have a hard time buying that because Ryan looked just as bad in the marriage as Greeenlee, and I don't believe that Mctavish intentonally tried to destroy him. Also, given how the other characters on the show sided with Rylee over Kendall, I can't really accept that the idea was to make her hated. If they really wanted fans to hate her, I think we would have seen other characters call her on her selfishness.

Yeah. Nothing like getting close to your former abuser to get those sparks going. McT loves sick/twisted relationships (like Lily & Jonathan) so she no doubt loves Ryan & Kendall.

Well, you're forgetting one thing - Ryan is a GOD. He's always a hero no matter what he does. ;) We're always supposed to love him and praise him. He was always so good to Bianca. Awwwwwwww. And even Erica Kane loves him!

You just stated what every single Zendall fan -- including myself -- has been saying.

That's true, but it's hard to believe that Mctavish thought she could use the same marriage to make fans hate the wife and love the husband, when the husband was the one controlling everything.

I don't know, it's hard to understand what went on with the Rylee story. But since I can't believe that Mctavish wanted to destory Ryan, and he and Greenlee were basically destroyed together, I also don't believe that she wanted to destroy Greenlee. It's Kendall who I think Mctavish might not like, because it's hard to see how Ryan was supposed to be likeable with some of the things he did to her, as I outlined in my first post on this thread, unless Mctavish assumed fans would be indifferent to Kendall's pain.

It's too bad that Erica worships Ryan. I would absolutely love to get just one scene of her treating Ryan the way she treats other people who have hurt one of her daughters, like Babe and JR.

I thought that Rylee was a from on high pairing from Frons and McTravesty just wrote it for [!@#$%^&*]. Plus Rebecca and Cam's sexual chemistry...nearly non-existent.

Another aspect I haven't seen addressed is the McTavish Ego Gargantuan. Once she goes in another direction (for example, to Rylee from Rendall or JR and Babe to Josh and Babe) she, for some reason I cannot fathom, thinks she must utterly destroy the previous couple and/or the one character left behind (Kendall and JR) must be demonized or pulverized into submission (much like the audience it treated, imo). We will bend to her will, so to speak. And it's worked for a while unfortunately, then even fans of McT saw the light and the piss poor writing on the wall.

McTavish has no apparent sense of scale. She whips up the McSensational, the McTwisted, the McSick to feed her voracious plot machine and to get attention for Sweeps, etc then (and here is where the ego comes in) thinks she can write herself out of any corner or extreme situation for a character (must give credit to a SON poster whose name escapes me, who made the bolded observations first...cheers, btw). McT is fully steeped in the belief that she can maninpulate the audience at will and no matter what she writes one day, she can rectify or change the next and we'll buy it.

I do have to wonder if she ever actual watches the show. Because whatever is written, whomever writes it...how it reads on paper and how it's playing out onscreen are not one and the same. One significant reasons why McMonster failed, imo aside from the stupidity of it all, was the actor couldn't handle the depth and type of emotional material given him.

I remember just before McTavish's Reign of Terror began, viewers of soaps she's written for previously warned that how you know that McTavish "likes" your couple...is that they are NEVER together. And if she likes a character, they are NEVER given a moment of peace.

Anyone who denies that Megan loves to write for Kendall is just...well...I don't know what to say. Kendall has been constantly on the frontburner THE ENTIRE TIME since she returned in 2002, four and a half years ago. She's had like 9 or 10 different love interests/sex buddies in that time. She's constantly being painted as a victim when, many times, she deserves equal blame for the stuff that happens to her.

If you say that about Babe, people will tell you that they agree and that it's the truth, but say it about Kendall, and it's overreacting.

Exactly. It's obvious Kendall is one of MMT's favorite characters, she adjusts characters and storylines for her. And Kendall has been on the show so much, you really start to wonder if there are other characters sometimes. In any event, I also have to agree that Kendall is one of MMT's favorites, always has been. And she's always the victim, it can get annoying.

And since she had no other choice, MMT has dubbed Bianca the permanent asexual victimized lesbian. I think Bianca is her favorite punching bag, and when she returns, I bet anything she'll go back to that. Or MMT will use her to prop up the less popular, ie. fetus boy and Babe.

I've seen it suggested that Frons forced Rylee but it never made sense to me, because if Mctavish really wanted Rendall why would she completely destroy them? Surely Kendall could have just decided that with her family falling apart she wasn't in the right place to be in a romantic relationship, and Ryan could have moved on with Greenlee. Then when the fans made it clear that they didn't want Rylee, and Frons admitted that they weren't working together, it would be relatively easy to have Ryan find his way back to a Kendall who had come to terms with everything.

Maybe the problem is the belief that fans would rather see a tired triangle than scenes of a family dealing with a terrible tragedy. We got the horrible R/K/G triangle, and then a few scenes of the Kane women together, addressing Kendall's inability to accept Miranda's death.

I've been watching AMC for about 2 and a half years and so do not know alot of it's history that well and just go with the flow on a lot of stuff on the show. That said, I see Kendall as a damaged, insecure person looking for love from men sometimes in the wrong places and never quite getting it right (either her own doing or being dumped). I personally identify with her in the trust area and do understand her wariness. I'm going to try and recount her romances. Her first romance on the show was Rendall and it got plummeted because Cameron was leaving the show, then Kaiden 1 was plummeted because they were doing Aiden/Maureen, then Michael turned out to be using her, Kaiden got plummeted for triangle of K/R/G, Boyd was just a guy with a big crush on her, Kethan got plummeted for Zendall, JR was basically a boytoy, and I guess Zendall is still going on. I read somewhere that Alicia once said that she's used to break in new guys. Maybe they feel she has chemistry with alot of her co-stars and therefore it's okay to test out new romances as opposed to giving her a guy and sticking with it. Wasn't she always in love with Ryan in some way with all these romances? McTavish come back in 2003 and not 2002 right? I was looking at old transcripts the other day when I saw this thread up to see if Kendall has had alot of airtime from the moment she came on and I don't know if she had the most airtime in 2002 but she was on alot every month. I think Kendall, then Bianca had the most airtimes in 2003, 2004???

I also love Babe and think McTavish loves her and it's fine with me. I don't remember but has McTavish always featured just the same people front and center since she started and do you think that if McTavish goes and the new guy comes in that Kendall, Babe, Ryan, Zach, Jr, Dixie, etc. airtime will change?

Babe, JR, Ryan, Kendall, Krystal, Tad, Jamie and Zach (2004) have all been front burner since McTavish came aboard in 2003. With the subtraction of Bianca and Greenlee, it's been pretty much the same characters getting all the main stories. Everyone else just comes along to prop up Babe and Ryan or to self-destruct to prop Babe and Ryan... If you're Jonathan, you do both. Jonathan props Ryan as well as suffered self-destruction due to the women beating and brain tumor in order to make Ryan seem heroic.

Ryan's Anger Management storyline came along as McTavish's obvious attempt at giving Cameron Emmy material. It didn't work. Cam's not THAT great of an actor. Charisma only gets you so far. Especially with weak material.
