Agreed..Moniz has it going and of course, Zaz can do anything..Zimmer, I was suprised that she would have agreed to do it without her makeup, but maybe they pulled her out of happy hour and she said, "What the hell!!!Let's do this quick so I can get on with my day!" Frankie...I know this is not nice, but God only knows who he was putting out with to keep his job...(I kid, I kid..I really think he ended up paying them to keep him on...)

It almost seems they used anyone who was in the studio that day..I mean, Frankie D is going to get people in NY to tune in at 10 a.m. (Of course, Frankie probably made a special trip in to film that as he woulda cleaned the toilets to stay on that show...) Also, Kimmer looks like she has no make up on!!!

True, they could have done it like Marland did on ATWT..and Doug Cumming (or was it Marsha) attacking Heather and putting her in a coma...so the whole thing was...will Heather wake up in time to warn Kim, etc. I felt that Nadine's story was over..and I was sick of her pining over that troll Buzz, so I liked it when they put her together with that Trucker who liked her...but he disappeared when McTavish started writing..I would rather Deeney be written out wiht a happy ending. Of course, I wanted Buzz to be the one to get murdered..I can imagine how long his death scene would be..."GAAK....you STABBED me...spit, spit, AAGGGH I'm dying...windmill arms..." and the soap "press" raving about Deas acting in his exit scene....

Very true, but the storyline was ahead of its time for actually talking about some of the things we are talking about today...white professional affluent males can escape justice...(well okay, every regular character can escape justice if the plot calls for it and he says he is sorry. I hated that GL, after Alex is revealed to be involved with the drug ring (I wont even go into the stupidity of that...) didnt use the storyline to have the feds investigate Spaulding, and unseat ALL of them from the business and disbar Gus. Interesting storylines..) I also think the transphobia thing doesnt hold...Brent was not trans, he was evil using a disguise...and the HIV thing I thought was a good twist on the old baby switch storyline, and it did use it to talk about HIV/AIDS at that time. The rest of McTavish stuff was crap!

Hilary was good with Jim and with Fletcher...and I never thought Fletch had chemistry with anyone. Wonder why they didn't go there. Of course I heard the spy thing on Datalounge so take it for what its worth..I wont even go into the claim of what JWS, the Holden actor and Marland's penchant for feet...

Bull dyke Marsha Clark and gay JWS had zero chemistry. Clark was Marland's spy with the actors reporting back to him what people were saying. I actually thought that Blake should have had the more somber bearing..the kid thought Ed was her dad for her formative years (which was never mentioned by Long much) then found out family enemy Roger was her father, was kidnapped, he died, she was carted off to "europe" and place in a boarding school by a mother who had neurotic problems of her own..Stringfields spoiled princess didnt make a lot of sense.

I actually liked her but Pam Long HATED her...they hired her during the writers strike. I don't think she had any chemistry GA or MOL..both of whom have chemistry with everyone (different kinds tho they may be...) I never liked Stringfield who everyone loves..she was just too damn campy and I like LK but she was just too "nice" to be Blake...

Roger was rather one dimensional at this time. I think the Dobsons wrote James Stenbeck the same way...not that AH as hot as he was, was an actor of the same caliber of Zaz, but I always wish they had written him withe more conflict then just EVIL.. Is anyone else having problems on this page with Google ads blocking posts?

That was cheesy for the 80s..it was even worse when Conboy brought that back for a Fashion in what 2002? Oh, old queens who don't move with the times. That promo for the clone reminded me of why I hated it so much, not so much the sci-fi but I could never stand Josh after that and I don't think Reva would have ever forgiven him...he came off like a lecherous psycho. It also shows how JL was wasted as both teen clone and Michele, she would have been great as a tough as nails Stacy Chamberlin or some other bad girl. On the GL Facebook page Jill Hurst sometimes post and she brought up the "great work that Robert and Kim did" when everyone was dissing the storyline...to her credit she did say she didn't like sc--fi stuff and engaged with class. Its just interesting to see what bts people think of the stuff that goes on the air compared to the viewers. Sometimes they are too close to the cast etc...(as in, who cares what kind of work they did, the storyline sucked...)

The Santos as written were ridiculous, and annoying and ate up the show...and its too bad, some of the actors were good but typical MADD/Rauch...the writing was crap and they werent integrated with the show. As I said before..having the Santos being a murky family with ties to organized crime, which Carmen was desperate to rid herself of and be seen as "legitimate" (while still being underhanded) would have been interesting. Carmen using Michelle and the Bauers (even while hating them) and using Pilar with Bill Lewis...running head to head with Vanessa on one hand, and trying to seduce Alan on the other, while running head to head with Alex..would have been good. I think the Pilar actress would have been good as a mini Carmen wanting to climb her way into legit society..and using poor Bill Lewis as her pawn. "I have been going back and watching 1979 GL and he and Lezlie Dalton (Elizabeth) were great together." When Joan Collins came on it should have been as Eilzabeth not Alex..and I would have loved her to be married to Mike Bauer...(for a long term storyline I would have not cast Joan in the role but...)

That's funny, in an interview at the time Marland said that Charita was the Sada Thompson of daytime. I think she had more zest and humor then anything I have seen Thompson do but.. I think bringing back Meta was one of the best ideas on GL since the 90s and it was oddly enough McTavish who initiated it. I think that all of the younger actors seemed to really work much better with MS..(who I heard could be a pill) even the horrible Jesse actor. They should have used her more..she was a great combo of loving Bert with a bit more of a hard ass in there.

God..Bert's passing was terrible and yes, GL was a [!@#$%^&*] show at that time. After the huge ratings drop when the show got away from the core...they should have used her death to bring Bauers back to SF.. Mike, Hope and Aunt Meta...Mike for Alex, Hope for Ross and Aunt Meta taking up dutie in the Bauer kitchen. But Kobe probably thought this was the chance to finally get away from the past. I remember when they asked her why she waited a year she tried to hem and haw that it was painful to the cast and that she wanted Bert to always stay alive so Rick could get on the phone and say, "Grandma...I have a problem!" What an idiot.

That could have been interesting if she came and moved in with Aunt Holly...maybe she had a few issues like her father and Holly has a belated spurt of maternal care (like she did with Chele) and Blake becomes a bit jealous....or instead of that stupid Tory thing it was this girl who fell for Ross in a twisted father figure way like Blake did... But whatever, there were tons of offspring/lost relatives to drive story from Stacie and a recast "J" , to Roxie, and I know it would drive longtime fan nuts. but I would maybe have had Hope marry offscreen and have kids, or Mike...(since we heard nothing from him since he left...) Maybe Mike and his wife come to town to take the place of Ed and Mo and they have college age kids...

YES..I loved Marland's first two years..he really made the Hughes family front and center and started honoring history. But there still was energy and camp and fun...as dumb as the Castle was I loved the monks and James first return...Shannon was fun and not the drip she became..Lisa and Lucinda were camping it up all over town and sniping at each other..Doug Cummings and the murders...it hadnt quite got to be a Lily fest and not everyone in town was mouthing off about "honesty" being the most important part in a relationship..Tom and Margo were fun and sexy and made marriage look fun and sexy...Babs was going bad in a fun way and teen sexpot Emily was oozing bad girl charisma...and then....it all became a drab morose mess of earnest dullness.

LOL..I actually remember watching this episode in college...but now I can't remember where my keys are... Lisa DID mention..."Oh she is taking it out on the world, I used to be just like that..." and I did like how she just laughed at her.. but yes, she should have ahd a bitchy comment on "Well from the looks of things, it wont be your last" to her or something. Just when I think Lucinda is going to save the day with a "Oh Lisa..." (which you know is usually the start of some good catty fun.) its to report that Craig called... and then Lisa doesnt even give Lu any heat about besmirching Whit....I would have loved a firey Lisa saying that if Lily and Iva get hurt...."It collatoral damage...and its all your fault.." but no..lets !@#$%^&*] foot around... I always loved GL at this time as people got to be catty and snarky and insult each other..even when they were "good"...

I don't even remember this woman!!! Sean WAS hot...he played Gaston on Broadway...but he was totally not Frannie's type...or Marland's type..i.e. he didn't prisspot around about "feelings," and "honesty" I forgot he was annoying Courtney's bro and I HATED this Frannie with her helmet hair..she just didn' t seem to be a Hughes...(I would think Nancy would think that "flashy" hair is good for Emily but NOT a Hughes...)

Zimmer IS Reva..sometimes she annoys the f*ck out of you and other times you love the hell out of her...here I love the hell out of her! I lover her Charita comments and I think she did a great job of channeling Charita for the anniversary show, she had the zest, and the outgoing warmth of Charita down pat. Again, would love to sit down with Kimmer with a bottle of wine and let her rip!!! The thing is, Peapack would have been the perfect time to get back to the show being about family....the format cried out to the return of that as there was nothing else the budget could stand. But Wheeler kept throwing in jewel thieves and secret agent Jeffie chasing after Eddie who had a double...it would all have been dumb in the old format but it looked even more ridiculous in a real town setting.

Sad to watch...now I of course, can notice Zaz speech and the the onset of that horrible disease...if only they had written this a Roger's "temp" exit...Alex and Alan have the goods on him for faking Amanda's paternity test and the will (dumb, but the whole thing was dumb) and Rog skips town and says goodbye to Holly and for her to look out for Blake and Amanda on the war path...but with a "Ill be back." eventually they could have made it a big mystery why Roger, who got his way out of bigger things, has disappeared off the face of the earth. Other things, this is before E & B took over I think...its too bad GL threw off some good stuff to be the Josh/Reva hour..Rick and Abby are one of the few couples to be cute as hell without being annoying, its nice to see Nola..(lol at Brown doing some business with the pasta...I can't believe they didn have a closeup of Nola blatantly eavesdropping on the conversation.) and I think she could have worked in the capacity Lisa did on ATWT, former bad girl who helps the bad youth, while nosing into everyone's business...MG is being sexy as hell in this episode..she and Zas HAD it...and I actually always liked Poser's Amanda..yes, she was too young and too vampy then Cullen's dull as dishwater version but she was fun and Poser had a great start quailty to her. Nice to see Rusty not looking as douchey as he usually did and I forgot all about Annie and her crying...how long before the pregnancy and the baby thing , I thought it was in the Sping but this says April.

I was thinking the storyline should have taken place when the ladies were in their 40s. However, it would not be a "romance" storyline..I would have a very magnetic guy to play plastic surgery Shea..and both women would be..as they say "drawn" to him. He would give both what they wanted to see....Elle a nice doctor/family man like David (he would concoct a fake family that died..)and who was working to help the poor. For Lisa it would be this big, larger then life guy who would feed her attention and ego...and he would take Chuck (still under another name) under his wing and Lisa would see this great father figure (from Hell) and kind of come to closure over Chuckies death and what might have been..(all in her head.) Lisa would not be jealous but not quite sure why she feels interested in him and the boy and why of course, he would be interested in"Poor old Ellen!" Ellen would have more screen time with Undercover Shea and Lisa would have more screen time with undercover Chuckie..both filling a new not really romantic. Best Tom and Margo..yes, HBS and Marx. Marx acted like a Hughes and HBS was strong and driven without the sharpness of Collins Margo. The T & M recasts were glum and flat to me.

Closeted (gay) actors formerly on the soaps
I remember, as a little baby gay..having a "crush" on the big brother in the Doris Day show...and years later found our he grew up to be that hot guy in soaps and commercials..see Phillip, we were meant to be for a lifetime, but ya missed ya chance!!!! : )

Regarding the Scott storyline..Marland originally proposed it as a Chuck returns storyline, but Fulton shot it down with..."No, Nancy Hughes buried him, and whoever she buries stays dead!" I think it would have been much better to make Scott, Chuck..(I loved Breen on GL, but he was too old too play Scott...and be a wuss for his "Grandmother" and the characters was too muted...he should have been like Lisa in her prime, a combo of good and bad..but he just came off as boring.) But it would have been cool if they did it earlier around the Dobson's time, with Chuck come back with Dr. Shea still being alive..when David goes missing after the John Dixon rape trial a lonely Ellen finds solace (friends only as this is boring Elle) with a new Doctor in town, maybe someone who runs a medical clinic for the poor (so he can stay off the charts more..) and she volunteers there, with Shea charming her (to hopefully finally get that Lowell money and for revenge. Lisa is oddly put out by Ellen's new friend and can't figure it out..however, she is busy with an "orphan" teenage boy she found sleeping in the alley behind Fashions..Tom is suspicious as he thinks the kid is a scammer and Lisa is soft because he is right around how old Chucky would be had he lived...meanwhile, the kid under orders of his dad, make a play on Betsy Stewart to get some more revenge on the Stewarts and to get to her trust fund. The kid falls for her of course and then they can do the Betsy/Steve story without the flaring nostrils and yelling of FR, which would make years of story..with Kim/Nick butting heads with Lisa, and Lisa butting heads with the rest of the town protecting her wayward kid.
