  1. I'm very sad. He was so funny & so kind & so innocent.

  3. That is freaking fascinating! Wonderful find, VF!
  4. Back when ATWT & GL's end dates were approaching, Stephanie Sloane of DIGEST did a Q&A with Chris Goutman & Barbara Bloom together & 5 days being too much was one thing they were alleging. Goutman specifically said that he did not see the energy in the fans any more to follow 5 days per week. Bloom said something similar along the lines of soaps evolving & that might be one change.
  5. Personally I think Paul left a lasting negative impression with his arrogance over the final scene. Putting that cigar out on the soundstage floor, in a spotlight, was just so uncalled for & it is such a big gesture that it overshadows everything else.
  6. DOOL 10-24 Mon., Day 31 at Peacock Monday, October 24, 2022 8:38 AM Cast: Gabi, Marlena, John, Brady, Chloe, Stefan, Li, Rolf, Eric, Nicole, Kristen & Rafe. Marlena on phone to Sami. John comes in & the doctor, Dr. Paton, is sending Marlena home today. So excited. Feels so much better. John is saying that Brady broke up with Chloe, for Rachel's sake. Stefan is at Chloe's door, knocking to beat the door down. Li comes around the corner & encourages him. Faint heart never won the lady. At Rolf's old secret lab he is almost ready to leave. Mumbling about Jakarta, getting away from these parents of these children! Rolf is deciding that Salem is not worthwhile without Stefano there anyway. But, Gabi is now at his door. Not part of the plan! Li is anxious to get underway with moving Rolf. Nicole rehires Eric & they talk & understand each other. Model thought the booking was canceled & left. Newly rehired Eric says Nicole can do the shoot. They used to do that all the time. Marlena tells John that Rachel is gonna learn this lesson that she can manipulate things & it won't be a good thing. She & John are pretty horrified that Kristen is going to live there with them. Chloe is also horrified. Crying. Stefan hugged her. Gabi shows up at Rolf's now old secret lab. Attacks Rolf. John thinks Marlena has a bad habit of blaming Kristen for everything. Chloe has decided she doesn't know Brady anymore. Rolf does something to Gabi. Administers vial #crs16 or something like that. Marlena sits down, a stranger in her own living room. Nicole is dressed to the 9s & Eric is snapping away with the camera. John wants to know what is going on. Stefan whips out this beach picnic kit. Gabi can't remember why she is here. John & Marlena are just flabbergasted! Chloe is drinking a margarita. Stefan changed into a Hawaian shirt. This is a weird day.
  7. Another World Memories @NBCAnotherWorld #OnThisDay in 2003, Oct. 24, Linda Dano hosted the Another World Reunion on SOAPnet #AW #AnotherWorld
  8. Made me laugh, also wondering. And, not used to P&G having so much power. But, they did with ATWT & GL, just not so much at NBC with AW.
  9. I will say that there was this one day when I did not like the SB broadcast: On February 21, 1989 #Mason (Lane Davies) meets #God (Brian Frons) in Heaven. God was played by NBC's vice president for daytime, Brian Frons. Mounted on the wall was an all-white peacock with the initials GBC (God's Broadcasting Company). At the beginning of the clip you can see God's secretary - Joan Crawford played by the amazing Joe Marinelli - watching her favorite show, "Santa Barbara", what else? It's really telling that Frons had the ego to cast himself as God in a soap over which he has power for the time being. No other PTB ever set themselves up over Good & Evil. Just ran right into this tonight.
  10. As The World Turns @CBSATWT 16 years ago today, word spread through Oakdale that Hal had died. This episode aired almost four months after Benjamin Hendrickson’s real life, tragic passing. Hendrickson played the role in 2 separate stints, beginning in 1985. He would go onto win a Daytime Emmy Award in 2003.
  11. Could be. I don't think that was what Zas went to them & asked them for.
  12. I gather that that was exactly the first step the Writers would have done had they been given the chance to pursue initial plans!! (That's what they said at a Locher Room, anyway.) Instead, upstairs (PTB) said no & Paul passed on NO & MADD made her offensive statement & Zas sued them & then he went to OLTL where Brynn Thayer did a lot to get him on board there, etc. P&G showed off their worst nature that week! Robt. S. Woods helped, too. You, however, did a fine job of imagining how it could have been elsewise!!
  13. What would you have done with them? GL late 80s EPs: Joe Willmore 1986-1989 Robert Calhoun 1989-1991 JFP 1991-1995 Michael Laibson 1995-1996 Paul Rauch 1996-2002 John Conboy 2002-2004 Ellen Wheeler 2004-2009 HW: Curlee/Demorest/Reilly were co-HWs & they thought they were gonna mess with their heads because they wrote so differently, so they joined together to present a united front. When Curlee & Demorest left it was because she was pregnant. They wanted to come back but she got pregnant again. So, time has gone by & he's writing with another partner, books, I think, and she misses the collegiality of writing serial drama with other writers. GL HW 1995-1996 Megan McTavish GL HW 1996-1997 Victor Miller, Michael Conforti, Nancy Williams Watt GL HW 1997-1998 James Harmon Brown & Barbara Esensten (RIP)
  14. Anyone know anything about the book that she's got coming out?
  15. Was that JFP that was behind the block voting? I'm of the impression that she got several shows awards and introduced block voting to those shows, so I guess what I''m trying to figure out is if she learned it at SB or taught it at SB.
  16. Interesting article but I also think it's late to the game. Yes, soaps as we know them are in danger of extinction & they have been for about a baker's dozen years, already. Whether they will go all the way down & circle the drain & go kaput, is just anyone's guess. The few that are left may eke out meager existences. Or they could reinvent themselves. I don't think anyone has the answer. I think it would be great if they manage somehow to stay the course. They are a singular kind of story-telling. I think that probably the biggest factor not on the side of their winning, is that people don't watch TV together like they once did. So many of us began watching soaps with our mothers, or our grandmothers, or our babysitters, etc. Those opportunities are infrequent now.

  18. Who are the mismatched couples? I bet Party City is not as expensive as routine Costuming sources & methods! I've known some different people over the years who were Costume Designers & it seemed almost universal that they hated Halloween. Always thought that was very funny! Elsewhere, someone claims that they have already seen spoilers that both Chanel & Allie are pregnant. I have not seen that. Has anyone here seen that?
  19. You hope it means that the peer groups vote based on what is nominated, which is shown by the reels that they watch. And, that people do not vote based on news, scuttlebutt, rumors, etc. The first year they won, one reel was produced by Bridget Dobson & one reel was produced by JFP. I always thought that was a sign of the system working.
  20. Found this on wesleyeure.com & had a nice Awww moment. . https://youtu.be/N-j09rfcyN0
  21. Yeah, Emma looks & sounds & seems great. And, her intro was actually interesting. Carly has to be done! There's nothing left. And they even kissed. In Edit Mode: Oh no. I just saw this. According to it (and it is generalhospitalabc on IG) they're going back to the beach Monday. What was frustrating with Spencer & Trina was that they finally had things at the right moment for them to click, right after he came through for her in a big way in court. Perfection, it would have been unfortunate for Rory but perfect in every other way. Of course, then, they couldn't have done this totally wasteful prison story. Like we need to see that drag on.
