I don't begrudge Musk a renaming but the logo used to be this cute blue bird & now it is an X & in fact I think the X is ugly. It's a stupid name but if he had to have it couldn't he have picked a good typeface?!!

The only saving grace is that they were not left to do their worst for very long! And, maybe they see the value in keeping certain viewers. What an idea, to maintain a loyal fanbase?!! I'm not going to talk about the end of ATWT because I make people mad when I get going on Goutman. AMEN & pass the biscuits. Or AW or GL. The traditional P&G theatrically inspired, kitchen table talking, multigenerationally living, New York located soaps are gone forever.

It's good to have new people. You, here, others on UglyX. You remind us. The last time there were new sets. DAYS had a sort of pretend office cubicle & on GH the Q mansion got this huge observatory. Talk about contrast! But, I think the cast has got to be trimmed. And in this day & age I think it's ridiculous to pay for a horse & a horse wrangler. Also for a llama & a llama wrangler. And, if they did away with the blasted horse (which seems to keep changing) then they wouldn't be wasting a set on the horse. So, you see, we find things to complain about!! I won't bore you with all that's been wrong with the writing for at least 4 years.

What you're talking about at GH is because of Frank, although I guess it started with Riche/Labine. There is a TV Guide mag article (April 2014) that Michael Logan did with Geary, Shriner & Jane Elliot that you would enjoy & get a lot out of. It's online & you should be able to find it. If you can't PM me & I'll get it for you. They talk about Frank & Ron saving the show & they talk about what people usually want to do with their vets contrasted with Frank & the vets.

I really don't know if Reilly would've felt that kind of collegiality, or either that he would've had concern for the state of the genre. So many people on so many shows did not have a sense of ... Well, they didn't seem politically aware of things going on with other soaps or the networks, etc. AW was the exception to that rule. My impression is that soap actors & PTB mostly kept their heads down.

Now, eventually he didn't get his way. He wanted those 10 characters to be dead-dead. And, not that I like giving him credit, but Corday made him do Melaswen Island & bring them all back to life. For once Corday asserted himself & was correct. Good what if.

Besides, how annoyed could she actually be since she hasn't seen our little 9 yr old going on 30 in, what, 4 years?! And, yes, Finn & Hayden could meet at the Truck Stop on the Interstate half-way between here & there & transfer Mith' Violet & her belongings.

Bill Bell was totally free of network meddling. Only he had it, but he had it in spades. And, once he was gone, Y&R didn't even have a grace period. They began micromanaging IMMEDIATELY. Who are you thinking of, strong, who was not on the scene now? And, the shows were very slow to make any kind of a positive reaction. Having soap updates at 5 till the hour didn't occur for many weeks. And, broadcasting after the night talk show, also wasn't thought of for a long danged time.

Don't misunderstand. I didn't say he reinvented soaps, nor would I ever. Also the writer I mentioned clearly did not say that. Forever & a day it has been pointed out that there are a finite number of stories & only the details are different. In her bio Agnes Nixon said that Shakespeare said there are only 10 stories, etc. I have heard 6 stories, 7, 8, 9, now 10. (I don't believe Shakespeare said anything even like that.) The point is not that writers steal, the point is what is good enough to steal. There were things about Sheffer that I liked, also things I did not. I frankly think that was clear from my whole post. And I didn't *just* learn this about stealing. I've known it at least since the 60s. People one might list in terms of inventing & re-inventing soaps would be Irna Phillips, Pete Lemay, Agnes Nixon, maybe Bill Bell & also maybe Michael Malone. Definitely Dan Curtis & gotta say both Gloria Monty & Jim Reilly, the latter two yielding both positives & negatives.

Well, they've been trying to force this onto fans for 2 freaking years. That's enough reason right there & then, I mean, GMAB, but "Maple Syrup Lovin'" was appalling! And, in fact, you can't just tap the tree & guzzle down the sap. It doesn't even work like that. And, at a recent fan event ME supposedly refused to discuss the couple except to say that he & Becky agree with the fans & changed the subject then. I know why FIZ Fazzling depresses me & it's because D&C have been so arrogant as to think they can make us feel what they want us to.
