ALL: Errors, Myths, Omissions & Firsts that weren't
Yeah, I don't like to judge people. At the same time I'm annoyed because it's another dadgummed error, UGH. But, I know that Lucci doesn't mean, ya know, any harm, but I just wish she would tell the great anecdotes like are in her memoir that do not in any way rely on facts! 🤔🙄😲😉🙃🤣🤣 And because it's Lucci I'll give her a compliment: 🐐 (which I presume people know what GOAT stands for)

Excellent! Told ya! Supposedly Lipton wanted to have a hurricane in a totally landlocked location, nowhere at all close to a body of water. Again, supposedly he was very annoyed when they told him he could do a tornado but not a hurricane. D'uh. If I'm asked how he was as a soap writer I say he was great hosting Inside the Actors Studio. When people talk about Nixon saving AW they always talk about the Rachel-Steve-Alice triangle, which IMO is fair. I was watching then & it day-to-day really it was brilliance. When Alice was so happy that she & Steve were going to marry & Rachel announced that she was pregnant with Steve's baby ... classic soap & also new, too. When people talk about Bell at DAYS they talk about him making stars out of SSH & Flannery & Denise Alexander & also writing psycho-sexual drama which he basically never stopped doing! He made the mistake of killing poor baby Dickie. I think we could see their future selves in those two crucial HW jobs. I love your posts!

Yes, definitely! I was really impressed though that Malone wanted to work from an office at the studio because he likes actors & likes to get to know them, etc. Of course, big excitement that he was coming, very real anticipation! Yes, one of the sub-writers said that everything MM pitched they shot down, which I'm sure means that MOST of what he wanted to write, P&G said a hard no. However, Digest did an article where he named the 10 things he was most proud of during his time at AW & all I remember is that I hated it all. LOL!!!! The only thing specifically I recall from the article was that he wrote that he made Jake into a kind of a Cary Grant type & I'm like, uh, Jake is a blue collar dude with a chip on his shoulder, wtf Cary Grant type?!!!

She was the perfect person to be overall for Writing for ABCD!!! I will never understand WHY neither ABC nor NBC ever did what CBS did with B&B!! And, yes, totally a no brainer. And, Bobby Reno became Shane Roberts & Lila Roberts was terrified of storms!!! From race car driver to doctor who used to fly planes. And, Lila could not push the Southern belle any harder. I really want to see that pilot.

He really ended it very abruptly! About two years ago on something she claimed that Agnes wrote Ryan's Hope! Uh, Claire Labine & Paul Avila Mayer would like a word, well, if they hadn't both passed, they would. RIP. Made zero sense.

I'm trying not to post links so I do descriptions instead. The video hosting site is rumble dot com & the acct name is shallotpeel & the title of the video is "Tomorrow 1975 Looks at Soap Operas" & it won't be hard to find. 🤔🙄😉😬Promise. But, if you have a strong preference to be linked, just PM me. I'm only trying to avoid using links in public space, not private. Boy, is that ever true!!! 🤣🙃 I think it is very very interesting that Irna was involved in the creation of 2 soaps that were each in dire danger of early cancellation & she had two proteges & Agnes saved AW & Bill Bell saved DAYS. I get that James Lipton says he was the third person Irna was developing but I just find that too ludicrous. I just cannot give that credence. Interesting. Is there more to this idea?

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
The first Jackly kiss was 21 seconds. WHY? Don't they know how short 21 seconds is?!!! I swear I miss 6-7 minute scenes. This has just NOW occurred to you? Frank only has all these sets to impress us that he can, not use them well! And, today, previews for next week are VERY LATE! Now, did anyone AT ALL have it on their Bingo card that Cody KNEW Brook Lynn was pregnant that summer so long ago at boys & girls camps across the street from each other? Talk about surprised?!! Yes, I was. And, he never told Dante. In all these years he kept her secret for her. But, he couldn't wait to tell Anna that Sasha is pregnant with Jason's baby!!

Fairchild has played so many pretty interesting characters, although the best part of many of them is their character name, but Sydney Chase was JUST set up as a sterotypical rich bit*ch except maybe for her position as a mother. And, how many soaps have failed as morning soaps?!!! And how many half hour soaps have failed at or near lunch as the lead soap? And, we know how much better PC did when it ran for an hour one day tucked in instead of sticking out as the lead! You haven't by any wild chance seen that pilot, have you? Of course so much of it sorta showed up on AW when Malone was there for 6 months near the end.

Texas! Discussion Thread
Texas syndicated & matched up with episodes of The Catlins? Back then there was an idea floated of a soap opera channel. Along with The History channel, which did make, while the soaps one, did not. Ted Turner. And, as to residuals, it should be what it will be, which is whatever the regs, the laws, the contracts said at the time. That about residuals changed so much over time.

ALL: Errors, Myths, Omissions & Firsts that weren't
In the face of confusion, distortions of truth & outright lies, I want to make some clarification. This only involves Courtney Sherman Simon, who is not even here to defend herself. She enters into this only because I reached out to her to ask her about her character Kathy on SFT having an abortion. She confirmed that she had. Further, I brought up that only NY state as of 1970 had legal abortion without any residence requirement. She confirmed that Kathy had gone to NY to get her abortion. She offered that unfortunately she did not have anything (on paper or printed like a script or a call sheet, etc.) that would prove a date. There was never any question of remembering a date. No expectation of it. Not a thing at all. And, I never posted about this at some other board. Simply did not happen.

Somerset Discussion Thread
I don't know about long-running but I immediately think of Carla Borelli who played Reena on Texas. She was also married to Donald May for many years, well, until his death a few years back. I realize her marriage is a non sequitur. Sorry. She has a ton of credits of guest shots on primetime shows and she was a Mary Anderson on DAYS & Connie Giannini on Falcon Crest.

Texas! Discussion Thread
Of course this happened on USA network late at night for awhile they ran some years of SFT & EON. Also BET ran Generations over again several times. Never heard it about Texas. Hope someone comes along who knows for sure. If it does turn out to be one of these many errors, then will you please repost it in the ERRORS topic?

DAYS: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Really, when you get right down to it, the nitty-gritty, none of them deserves being mocked. And, especially after the year/s they had under YouKnowWho, ie Fired Guy, well, it seems to me, now they definitely deserve better. I guess it's not surprising that this would be troubling to us. And, Leo Stark and Body & Soul are just symbols of the mockery that is being made of this long-running soap that sometimes we hate but mostly we love. 60 Seasons & this is what we have to show for it.

DAYS: January 2025 Discussion Thread
No, I don't think Deidre or any other members of the cast are dictating story. I just do not think that is a thing. It's not like Maurice Benard on GH. But it is true that often writers change what they're writing based on what they see. So if they see people enjoying being on screen with other people, then it is possible that story could get changed as result of it. And, I do think that is a thing.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Quite honestly I think a huge factor is that the Dobsons wanted to be still at GL ... P&G was always into promoting from within & seemed to be equally at ease with switching things & people around as if they were interchangeable & I don't think they always were.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Personally I really liked the idea of their all living in the same building in Soho. But, a part of that reason was that it was different from most all of the rest of soapdom being in fictional locales. I also liked it that Ryan's Hope, basically, was in a real neighborhood in "the city". This is likely a Minority Rapport, which is fine as I already have a bunch of them. Oh, I feel like I should say, "Welcome back!" but I don't know you from Adam, so more authentically, "Hey, nice t' meet ya." And, I think The City's 2 biggest problems were 1. that it was a half hour soap at or near lunchtime as the lead-off to the afternoon rather than being tucked between an hour soap lead show & the second hour soap 2. Morgan Fairchild should've had a 2 year contract.

DAYS: January 2025 Discussion Thread
Well, I completely agree with your analysis but then I have a problem with one thought that flies in the face of it & that is that I have this sneaking suspicion that in the same way that it seems that Deidre seems to personally like RSW, I think she also personally likes GregR. But perhaps that REAL life issue doesn't need to get tangled up with our very REEL life objections. Yeah, maybe that's our out.
