  1. He is feeling very confident and that's usually when he screws up. He'll walk that statement back in a day or two.
  2. Of course there's a large pro-Pomney contingent to the media. The media is run by corporations and "corporations are people, my friend." I don't dispute that Obama performed poorly but the response from the left and the Dems is a perfect example of what drives me crazy about both. The left doesn't know how to fight. Not really FIGHT. The left specializes in feeling superior so anything that makes that harder causes an outsize hysteria. Obama knows he fucked up. Now it's time to work on fixing it. When Republicans screw up even the rank and file pretend everything is fine. That's why it's so amazing when someone like Peggy Noonan finally calls out someone like Romney. Conversely, when someone on the left screws up, we trip all over ourselves to tell the world because we want to show the Right that we're more willing to do it. (See how HONEST we are?!!) It's superiority over strategy. We have a month left in this election. To spend any more time rehashing something that happened a week ago is burning up precious time and media bandwidth that should be used to tear Romney apart on 1.) his newest lies re: foreign policy, 2.) The improved jobs numbers. The Foxbots won't believe them but their votes aren't in play and 3.) Big Bird. When the neocons targeted NPR no one said anything but the general population has a far more personal relationship with PBS. Use that. Obama knows that he has to bring it in the next debates and so does Biden. The only people who should still be rehashing last week's performance are the two of them and their prep team.
  3. Apparently Mitt isn't the only one who likes to shake the etch-a-sketch. LOL!
  4. I love how Scalia talks about how "homosexual sodomy" was illegal for years. Last I checked so was miscegenation. I wonder if Scalia will nullify Clarence Thomas' marriage if given the choice.
  5. The Romney debate bump was to be expected no matter what but isn't stronger than good economic news and the fact is that the unemployment rate is below 8% and more people are feeling good about the economy. Well except for the people who are more concerned with seeing Obama fail than the country succeed. Those people are losing their [!@#$%^&*]. +1 It's shameful what's happened to the Court.
  6. Careful, never use the word "die" when talking about politicians. That's a good way to get the attention of the government. You know, the same one that created a hurricane to ruin the first night of the GOP convention and is cooking the BLS books for Obama. Area 51! Area 51!
  7. LOL! I like Al Gore a lot, notwithstanding the harassment allegations, but when he spun that tale I just wanted to slap him.
  8. It's not that "we" can't trust" the judiciary, the Justice Department, the Federal Reserve... or anyone," it's that you choose not to because you don't like what you heard. The only people questioning the data are the neocons. These are the same people who have been screaming at the top of their lungs that "Obama said that if the unemployment rate was still above eight percent he should only get one term!" so apparently the data was just fine until today. It's the same thing we've seen with the reaction to the polls. Two years ago when the polls said that a generic Republican could beat Obama, the neocons practically sprayed their shorts. Now that Obama's ahead, suddenly "oversampling" is the right-wing's new favorite word. Reasonable Americans should no longer be forced to tolerate the paranoid ramblings of people who ignore math then tell the rest of us the "we" can't trust the numbers. These people are an embarrassment to themselves and this country. Conservatism I can tolerate, proud stupidity, however, I cannot. I'm glad to see that there are Republicans who seem to have gotten their fill of it. If you think that we can't trust the numbers then make your case as to why not.
  9. Hee. Honestly what I'm really saying is that I am disgusted by them. I'm disgusted that they are so desperate to discount Obama that they consider the fellow Americans who have gotten jobs - some after being out of work for more than a year - to be a liability. I'm also disgusted that they are so wedded to ideology that they won't accept basic verifiable data. We gone from a war on women to a war on voting and finally they've declared war on MATH. But most of all, I am completely and utterly sickened to the bottom of my soul by the reasonable Republicans and conservative who refuse to call out this ugliness for what it is. That makes me sickest of all because I know good, decent conservatives and they just sit on the sidelines while Fox News and the like foment hate and exploit ignorance.
  10. The unemployment rate drops and the right wing goes ballistic. At least they've stopped pretending they care about the economy.
  11. See I have absolutely no idea what that is or what it means!
  12. But there are actually still undecided voters. I know it's hard to believe for people like us who follow these things but there are people out there who don't even start paying attention to the race until October. When I start to get amazed by that I have to remind myself of all the years I didn't know when the Super Bowl was until the week of the game. I hate football and it never enters my consciousness so even here in a city that blazes orange every time the Browns play, I manage to remain completely and proudly oblivious to any and all football related madness. When you don't care, you don't care and sadly when it comes to politics, there are plenty of people who simply don't care until the last minute.
  13. In the process of ranting about Colby Chandler in another thread, I found myself wondering whatever became of Ambyr Childers and ran across this article in Interview Magazine. http://www.interviewmagazine.com/film/ambyr-childers/#_ If she really was the racist Nelson Branco alluded to in one of his blind items so long ago, then I'm glad AMC got rid of her but I'm sorry that her ignorance eclipsed her talent because I thought she did some really good work.
  14. I'm just glad that I watched the debates live last night. Usually I bypass these things when they happen then stream them online later on. But I don't know what I would be thinking right now based on the collective hysteria on both sides. Obama supporters are jumping out of windows and slashing their wrists on the way down while Romney's supporters have been having these non-stop multiple orgasms all over the internet. Obama's going to be in town tomorrow. Maybe I'll run by and give my Hopey a hug. After all the money I've given him, he owes me a little play. Romney needed a victory and the media needed Romney to have a victory. The next two weeks should be fun because Romney is feeling confident and that's usually when he [!@#$%^&*] up. An overconfident Romney is like a baby playing with matches and a gas can.
  15. This is another narrative that I don't understand. I've seen people say that Ryan is good at media but I've seen ABSOLUTELY no evidence of that. He's pretty much no better than Mitt Romney at dealing with the media. As far as I can tell "good at media" means "has pretty blue eyes."
  16. Again, this is the place where I think the long game is coming into play. The "47 percent" thing plays better in ads than it would've in a debate. The power of that video is that it's Mitt Romney in his own words and in context. Whatever value they would've gotten from a momentary sound bite is nothing compared to the power of playing that video over and over and over. Plus, remember how Romney has been practicing his "zingers?" I'm willing to bet most of those were responses to the "47 percent." I bet he was just waiting for Obama to mention it. ("Come on man! Say something about the 47 percent! I've got the best line! It's going to be epic and the talk shows will love it and so will Ann! She'll love it so much I bet she'll move up our bi-monthly sex date!!")
  17. LOL! Naw. I'm just sitting here in the gold-standard of swing states. It's crystal clear to me what the Obama campaign's objectives are because I see the ground game playing out all around me.
  18. So have I but one of Obama's strong suits is that he's very good at the long game. I guarantee that he's looking at ALL of the debates together. Not each individually. Everything - and I do mean EVERYTHING - Obama does from here on out is about independents and moderates. He knows that he doesn't have to worry about voters like me. We've got his back. (In fact I voted this morning.) Romney has to keep shuttling between the GOTeaP base and moderates/independents and I can almost promise you that he will do something before the next debate to piss off one of those groups. Would I like to see Obama smack Romney down like Omar from The Wire? Sure but I'm not his audience.
  19. No it isn't what he needed to do. It's what his supporters wanted to see but these debates aren't geared toward his supporters. They're geared towards independents, moderates and undecideds. The people rending their garments or high-fiving each other don't matter. Their votes aren't in play.
  20. Chris Matthews tends to freak out when the weather changes. He's definitely not my favorite MSNBC commentator. He's like that coked-up guy at a party who backs you into a corner while he tells you his theory of how to communicate with other planets. Obama played it safe. Overly so IMO but since he's in the lead he has more to lose and Mitt has more to prove. There's still two more debates to go and the next one is in a town hall format. That's going to be a vastly different dynamic and one that doesn't favor Romney. I'm rather enjoying the hysteria about Obama's performance in this one. The people freaking are playing checkers. This is chess.
  21. True. Although my favorite line is when he basically called all of his sons serial liars. Like father, like son.
  22. I kind of like the color although it seems a little dark. I remember seeing a picture of her when she first changed it and I thought it was pretty. And speaking of hair, why is Shennell styling her hair like Dee from What's Happening?
  23. That pic shows her cleavage. That pretty much all that matters. Remember who SyFy's core audience is.
  24. Shannon Kane (ex-Natalia, AMC) has a new movie coming out. It's a horror movie so I won't be watching but I can't help but stump for my girl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msSH5v6tK9k
  25. "Crazy" or not, VR does not look like a woman in her 50s. I like the dress. LOL! I feel like Robert Vaughn is one of those actors who is perpetually thought to be dead.
