  1. Oooh thank you for the recap. This is a great to know about ... in leading up to the Classic episode that was aired (during "Emmy Winners Week") on Mon June 22, 2020 -- Originally Aired: Jun 27, 1984, where Traci attempts suicide.
  2. "BRL" ? Is that 160 Brazilian reals? Currency converter says that is $29.50 in US currency. https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=160&From=BRL&To=USD
  3. Alan Locher's "Locher Room" youtube show, August 7, 2020. This is a reunion of writers who wrote for As the World Turns. The first hour is entirely about ATWT. I didn't watch that part because I never saw that soap. After that first hour, the host Alan asks the writers what they are doing now. Susan Dansby starts talking about Y&R. Susan Dansby announced that as of the day before (August 6), it was firmed up that she is returning to Y&R. She said she will be a "story_____" Part of what she said was not able to be heard. Not clear if this is temp or ongoing, because someone talked over her. This was already posted on the Directors and Writers thread. Posting here on this racial representation thread because Susan Dansby said that when she originally joined Y&R (in 2011), she was the first black writer on Y&R. The quote is first in 47 years but what was intended was this: When she originally joined Y&R in 2011, she was the first black person on the writing team in the history of the show. And as of 2020, Y&R has been on the air for 47 years. She said she was shocked when she first joined (in 2011) to learn she was the first, because ATWT had had 4 black writers. In her current return to Y&R, she joins black writer Lynn Martin who has been at Y&R since 2018. She goes on to talk about racism and hiring practices. Susan starts talking at about 1:05:00 into the video.
  4. edit. I posted this in wrong place. ignore
  5. I have seen posts referencing a "French episode guide". What is that?
  6. Y&R couldn't find anything for this young goddess to do.
  7. for past writers: Danielle Paige - GL and DAYS.
  8. I get so tired of hearing comments that women are exhausting, hysterical, unhinged, cray ... because they speak up.
  9. The irony of watching all these Y&R classic repeats, many of which have Victoria Rowell as Dru and Scott Reeves as Ryan, some in the same episode. It's like I must watch and can't watch at the same time.
  10. Thank you! that's what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words for. There was definitely that layer in what Devon was saying.
  11. I read an old recap or summary mentioning Dru cutting up Carmen's clothes and I thought that was not really what Dru would have done. The show wrote Phyllis cutting up Sharon's clothes, too. But Phyllis is supposed to be crazy. Dru isn't. Carmen isn't a really a Karen, as you pointed out. But I was trying to say that Dru being upset at Carmen, and even cutting up the clothes, Dru getting physical with Carmen --- for those things Carmen wanted Dru imprisoned and the D.A said the best deal he could offer was two years in prison. Two years in prison is not appropriate. I haven't seen many of that year's episodes, but I've been reading the recaps for that year, and It seems like Carmen was written to be a manipulative character who "preys on married men" said one summary. I don't know. I haven't seen enough clips of her to get what she was really like. Was Carmen simply being a bad person and trying to get rid of the competition for Neil and didn't care if imprisoning Dru was unjust? Or was Carmen being a "Karen" in that the writers were using Carmen as someone who thought of Dru as ghetto/dangerous/unsafe and must be arrested? I can't tell from reading the recaps.
  12. Direct link to above fb video: https://www.facebook.com/TheYoungandtheRestless/videos/1392131277640398/ Youtube link to the same clip, but it might be geo-blocked outside the US: https://www.youtube.com/embed/FqEoQBAzomI The clip is from the 2006 epi that was rebroadcast today June 24. Bryton won the 2007 Emmy for it. Devon was talking about Drucilla but... As I watched today, it felt like a parallel to Victoria Rowell. She's not crazy. She just defends what's right. And even more, this clip feels to me like a parallel to everything that's going on on the world. Carmen Mesta is being a Karen getting Dru arrested for no reason. Carmen is afraid. Says Dru started it. etc. And Devon calls her out.
  13. WHOOPS. I meant to say Neil had a secretary in 1997! I had several tabs open and was looking at something from 1984 on another tab. I intended to talk about Neil Winters in 1997 (not Neil Fenmore in 1984). Sorry about that! Neil Winters first appeared on Feb.14, 1991. Neil Fenmore was on Y&R approximately 1983-86, I'm not sure. So sorry I made such a confusing post with the wrong year! Let me start over.... I understand Neil Winters had a secretary in 1997. Does anyone know the character name and/or the actor name?
  14. I understand Neil had a secretary in 1984. Does anyone know the character name and/or the actor name? EDIT because I was careless. I meant to say 1997!
  15. omg I'm sobbing, I can barely type. tour de force indeed.
  16. Lamon Archey interview published June 15, 2020 "Actor Lamon Archey on Being Black in America and in Daytime" https://weareentertainmentnews.com/2020/06/15/actor-lamon-archey-on-being-black-in-america-and-in-daytime/
  17. WEDDINGS Bill/Katie in Katie's hometown. 11/13/2009 Your list says #5629 but it should be #5692. WEDDINGS Liam/Hope in Italy. 6/26/2012 Your list says #6531 but it should be #6351. B&B producer Casey Kasprzyk tweeted the episode numbers for the pandemic repeats - Fridays in April, and then daily April 27 - June 5. https://twitter.com/CaseyKasprzyk/status/1266089518983069696
  18. I was curious about a couple of characters that appear in 1997 in various episodes. Phyllis' babysitter for Daniel and/or her housekeeper to whom Phyllis confided her frustrations. The character's name was named "Joani Darza". The actress playing Joani was Marita De Leon. http://www.maritadeleon.com/about.html Olivia employed a nurse/nanny for little Nate, and that character was named "Julia" (I don't know if the show gave her a last name?). The actress playing Julia was Pamella D'Pella. She has a Y&R acting reel here:
  19. On June 17, 2020 in USA, (Tues June 16 Canada), they are going to air Episode #6164, Olivia and Malcolm's wedding. (Original US airdate Fri. July 11, 1997). The soapcentral recap doesn't say much so I looked more into it. I found a few different recaps on "rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs", an informal discussion newsgroup, later absorbed by googlegroups. The first recap I found , posted in 1997, is here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/uozG4TnxBrE/NN51AnRDQfIJ And that doesn't say much about the wedding either, and then I saw that this thread was exactly the same wording as the soapcentral recap for that date, so maybe it was the source. More digging produced more info. More info is in a separate 1997 thread, where someone asked specific questions about the wedding and replies were made and discussed here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/-ycSa98VXSw/6vcvKrBat4cJ (that thread discusses the wedding episode, and also the reception which was in following episode). The wedding party has Dru as matron of honor, Neil as best man, Lily as flower girl, and little Nate in a tux. Mamie wasn't there. There were no other family members present. They didn't mention the bride and groom's parents. I found several other threads about the wedding where it was mentioned that all the guests were white except for Julia who is Nate's nanny. Comments were made about the wedding seemed so small and the show seemed so cheap. And they wondered if the show was saving up for Victor and Diane's upcoming wedding. And racism was discussed. This 1997 thread is quite an interesting read: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps.cbs/0sPETfGmfRk/MbHiFqMyDgcJ
  20. It was later revealed that Sarge's real name was Augustus Wilder, and that he was the uncle of Lamon Archey's character Mason Wilder.
  21. On Y&R, he was Jack's physical therapist, played by Darnell Williams (Jesse AMC).
  22. Does anyone know who plays the judge in Devon's adoption episode? She looks so familiar but I can't remember her name.
  23. In the removed (edited out) scene of Miguel asking Esther to dance, she calls him "Chief".
