  1. Gallison wins the hunk crown for me too. I'm also struck by Constance Ford's slight resemblance to Dorothy Malone.
  2. Yay! Thank you for all your excellent work in contacting these folks. And I couldn't agree more with your assessment of why the ensemble works.
  3. Well, thank goodness for virtuous Adam Drake.
  4. Ah, that Silverman! He and his youth-courting. Hope Augusta had a few laughs when he flamed out so spectacularly at NBC.
  5. My goodness, Michael T. Weiss was hot.
  6. If I recall, this was within maybe the first 3-4 weeks. My college had a collection of TV Guides from 1975-1994, and I was always looking at the vintage soap ads (but was a damn fool and didn't photocopy them).
  7. And what time zone? I mention that because for most of the '70s, ABC had a game show block from 1:30-3:00.
  8. That's an interesting photo of Jacquie -- she kinda resembles Joey Heatherton.
  9. A-ha! I'm kicking myself for not watching Filthy Rich when it was briefly on YouTube.
  10. Gotcha. Either way, it's a funny one.
  11. Too funny! You know, a variant of that appeared in the first episode of Designing Women.
  12. Several daytime figures -- including Jeanne Cooper and Maria Arena (not yet Bell) -- give commentary on Soapdish: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-11/entertainment/ca-474_1_real-soap-opera
  13. I was able to find one article on Soapdish. Included since Stephen Nichols was a commentator: http://articles.latimes.com/1991-06-11/entertainment/ca-474_1_real-soap-opera (And I'll share this on the Y&R board, too).
  14. Damn ... David Forsyth looks pret-ty good in that promo.
  15. Ah, that makes sense, Carl. And thanks so much for all you're sharing. I wish TV Guide had a usable archive, or I was near my old college's library -- Michael Logan had a column talking about the Hayes in a production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf circa '93. What a night that had to have been. And the one I'd really love to dig up is when a group of L.A. soap actors (SSH, Lynn Herring and a few others) gave their thoughts on Soapdish. I remember them being favorable toward it, but Susan said she would kill to know what Lucci thought!
  16. Wow, I didn't know Andrew Masset was on the canvas that late into 1985. And hello, Josh Taylor's arms.
  17. There was also the "New Age" edition -- (thanks, SayNoToUrSoap!) -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xoYmr7a8Po I rewatched the Mathis version. Not a fan of the music, but the graphics look nice (even in an admittedly poor upload), and really, I'd have loved to see new people get phased in as time went by. Those are caricatures, right?
  18. What I love about that first theme is how with each repetition, the melody becomes more and more majestic. Runner up would be the Osborne theme. In terms of opening graphics, I'd actually give the crown to the Mathis opening.
  19. Holy cow! I never knew they found out like that. Geesh ... is it too much to ask that (inevitably) those executives get canned the same way?
  20. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to end a tense situation by just saying, "Now, Daddy, shake the man's hand and let's be on our way."
  21. Jeez ... almost looks like she hit him.
  22. Seconding this! Much love and appreciation for letting us know, Saynotoursoap!
  23. I also wish Oppenheimer had stayed on as Alistair, although hearing that about Katherine Helmond makes me wonder if they considered Robert Mandan. Didn't somebody say Robin Mattson was up for Grace and Faith? Either way, anybody would have done much better than Dana Sparks.
  24. Gramma and Grandpa would like to know what's funny, Mister ...
  25. The gold standard for that will always be Gale and Dale singing a modern spiritual ... "One Toke Over the Line". Both of them seem to be two seconds from cracking up at the ruse.
