  1. It seems like that was one of Betty White's few flops...especially in the game show arena.
  2. Of course, SB and Hunter had Robert Newman in common. Between stints as GL's Josh Lewis, he was the second actor to play Kirk "The Jerk" Cranston (I believe Joseph Bottoms got booked to make a movie and was let out of his contract early and Robert Newman came in to finish Kirk's arc). He also played the guy who married Dee Dee McCall and left town with her when Stepfanie Kramer decided to leave the show. He's reviled by Hunter fans to this day just for marrying McCall.
  3. Was Cassie one of those characters just shoved down the throats of the viewers? I'm not as familiar with post-1989 SB, but judging by how many times her face shows up in the thumbnails of YT videos, I'm going to assume that she was.
  4. I don't recall about CC/Kelly re: Capwell Enterprises, but it's entirely possible. As for Eileen as a recast Eden, that would have been considered mutiny for fans. Recasting Kelly at that juncture was totally unnecessary, as Carrington Garland had proved herself popular with the audience. I just don't think Eileen was right for the show, and that's not any reflection on her as an actress. She was great as Ashley and Kristen. It's not just Cruz/A - I don't think she had chemistry with any of the Capwells, either. She was just the wrong fit on a show that was already beyond repair.
  5. Did she ever work in daytime again after that?
  6. I think those were among the best of their scenes together. Personally, I would have been grossed out if SB had put Cruz and Kelly together if Robin had still been playing Kelly. They just had the big brother/little sister vibe down so cold, that it would have been like watching...a big brother and little sister.
  7. Now that Greta and Billy have gone all the way (thankfully, those scenes were very tastefully done), I look forward to the fallout there. Jennifer Houlton has proved herself a very competent young actress, but at this point the chemistry she had with the previous Billy - David Elliott - is just not there with Shawn Campbell. I know David Elliott chose to leave (he headed West and got the role of the mayor's son in Jaws 2), but I have to wonder how this story would be even better if he had been there to play it out.
  8. I believe this is the episode you are talking about, from August 1987. ETA: For some reason, it keeps embedding the wrong video. Let me try to fix this. Here you go:
  9. They're coming up on about 20 years together now, right? Good for them. 💖
  10. I can't think of any specific favorite Cliff moments, but the JR/Cliff feud was always fun to watch. Cliff was Wile E. Coyote to JR's Roadrunner. He could never get ahead of the game (though I think Cliff gained control briefly of Ewing Oil at least once), but not for lack of trying. I was glad that Ken Kercheval got to reprise Cliff one last time in the TBS reboot.
  11. I wonder if NBC even bothered with making promos for those shows by then.
  12. Yes, here's the preview: To answer your question about SB's best recast, I have to say Jed Allan. Second place would go to Carrington Garland.
  13. Don't forget Lloyd Bochner, who was originally cast as CC. He got sick right before taping was to start, and thus was replaced at the last minute with Peter Mark Richman. Thankfully, they eventually got Jed Allan and the rest is history.
  14. RIP Ken Kercheval (seen here with Louise Shaffer in their SFT days).
  15. I don't even know what to say anymore - they're incredibly arrogant, incredibly stupid or both.
  16. The kitchen set reminds me of my grandparents' house - which may be why I like it so much.
  17. The news has also been confirmed by another reliable source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/variety.com/2019/tv/news/ken-kercheval-dead-dies-dallas-cliff-barnes-1203196759/amp/
  18. I think you should have been a writer on this show. Great points!

  21. Yup, daytime is a completely different animal than primetime. Too bad he didn't learn that until it was too late.
