  1. Agreed, although writing the character as dumber than a box of rocks didn't help. Somehow, EM managed to rise above that aspect and TS didn't.
  2. Yes, he wrote some of Ken George Jones' songs himself. After RH, he wrote for many other soaps - eventually becoming co-headwriter of Y&R. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trent_Jones
  3. I have not been able to find out whether or not The Doctors aired on my local NBC affiliate (WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland) right up to the series finale in December 1982. I know many other major markets dumped it before NBC did, as what later happened with its other low-rated soaps like SB. Maybe one of these days, I will have to check out the microfiche in the library to find daily TV listings from back then.
  4. I think it's a kick to see Peggy Cass regularly on these reruns of classic game shows while Retro TV is airing her run as the nutty but loving hospital receptionist Sweeney on The Doctors. Of course, some of her game show persona spilled over into her soap character...but at this point in the reruns of TD, Sweeney is written with a bit more substance - taking an emotionally wounded nurse's aide under her wing and into her home, essentially becoming a mother figure. In any case, Peggy Cass seemed like a very sharp lady.
  5. At least she didn't sing "Your Cheatin' Heart". 😉😂
  6. I had never even heard of Faith Daniels until now, but I did some searching around and found this interesting article. It was published just three months ago: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.businessinsider.com/nbc-trump-mar-a-lago-faith-daniels-kiss-interview-2019-7 Who would have guessed then that someday she'd be involved in something even soapier than Generations?
  7. Yes, I can see the resemblance. I don't think Kim is supposed to be a good singer, but I'm still not sure exactly what they were going for in that scene.
  8. Through the mail autograph success from Laura Bonarrigo aka Koffman (Cassie):
  9. I miss those big costume parties and galas that soaps used to have. 😢
  10. It's amazing that SB packed so much into 8 1/2 years. It's still hard to believe it lasted less than a decade when it feels like more!!
  11. I've seen her listed in SOD's Comings and Goings in a 1998 issue, but of course I can't find the issue. 😠
  12. Thank you, @SFK and @Khan for indentifying the actors for me. I do indeed now remember Mr. Rashula from the reruns of WH and GT.
  13. There were also the Duvalls/Bassetts in 1985, made up of Mary, Christie, their white trash mother Theda and violent stepbrother Steve. I honestly believe that their story with the Capwells in the summer of 1985 finally made SB click after a very rocky first year on the air. Of course, none of them were on for long in the grand scheme of things, but it was Mary who finally helped turn Mason into a three-dimensional character. I think the Perkins family should have had more staying power. Dane Witherspoon, Valorie Armstrong, Melissa Brennan (now Reeves) and Kerry Sherman even looked like they could be related. All of them had blond/light brown hair, blue eyes and fair skin. They had a natural family chemistry. Then Dane was fired after his first 13-week contract cycle and recasting Joe with Mark Arnold was just too jarring. The only one who seemed to weather the storm was Kerry Sherman as Amy, who was in a popular romance with Richard Eden's Brick. It was her choice to leave the show (and show business altogether) in 1986 when she became pregnant with her second child. I think Amy was a viable enough character to try to recast instead of kill off, but maybe the writers felt that since she was the only Perkins left, it wasn't worth it. But it left Brick/RE rudderless, even though he was tied to three of the four original families by blood and marriage. I could also go on about how the character of Brick was wasted post-Amy, but I'll save that rant for another day.
  14. Here's Meg Mundy (Mona Croft) in the 1979 film adaptation of Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar. She is only in this one scene, and the movie filmed in NYC and NJ, so she probably didn't have to take any time off from the show.
  15. 😂😂😂😂😂
  16. Which is a shame, because I saw some episodes with him on YouTube and he was great. He had the hot chemistry with Sherry, but he also had charm and quirkiness on his own.
  17. It never fails! Interestingly enough, I think Phelps was a better fit as showrunner on SB than Conboy and Rauch.
  18. Thanks. I wonder why Sam never returned at some point. Even if they couldn't get Jordan Charney back, I don't think he was irreplaceable.
  19. Ewwwwww...but he would have deserved it!!! 😳😂
