  1. I don't disagree that the two have very different vibes, so it is jarring to watch Sherilyn as Taylor. However, if you think about the character as written, rather than portrayed, she makes sense as a casting choice. I mean, I don't see Sherilyn running around in a Princess Jasmine costume getting kidnapped by a foreign prince, but she could obviously play a logic-based psychiatrist who was a romantic contrast to the more emotionally-driven Brooke Logan.
  2. For whatever reason Sherilyn comes off as smarter, so it really highlights the irony that Taylor, (an accomplished neurologist), and Brooke, (a patented scientist), fight over nepotism-hire Ridge whose biggest accomplishment is being able to wear a speedo at all hours of the day.
  3. Come on now @slick jones you know that both Ron & Frank would both be able to remember that Llanfair doesn't have a "d", and Viki doesn't have a "c", two facts for which I require your consistent corrections. ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐ŸŽ‡ Besides that I would much rather go to the annual 4th of July Abbott pool party but Brad's not around to wear his annual speedo anymore
  4. If given the choice, I'd still pick this party over this party Happy 4th everyone
  5. Does anyone else play this game? In the seconds it takes for the link to appear in someone's post, I always try to guess who it will be.
  6. How do you think they'll handle the dialogue when referencing Xander vs. Alexander? Will they just call the new one Alex?
  7. Vanessa Bayer can not get over the time Colonel Sanders visited Port Charles
  8. Totally unironically may I say that one of the things I love about this board is that we can have a two day discussion about a dead character's fictional age? Also, shout to soapcentral's recap, can we agree that this line of dialogue from Julie to Eli, makes about as much sense as a guy moving to Maryland to raise twins on his own less than a month after recovering from a coma? "You have David's slow, wonderful smile. And the way you love, Eli. So fiercely, so true," Julie said. What's a slow smile?
  9. Rinna's got a lot of opinions, but I guess she was out of town so often this season that this is the first time she is seeing the drama. On the other hand, I don't like when cast members don't give each other a break when they're going through trauma. Lisa just lost her Mom and Dorit's home was invaded, their co-workers need to offer them a bit more grace. As for Diana, she is a total quandary. Is she dumb, cruel, or both? Giving money to charity does not qualify one as a good person, and I have no idea why Crystal's husband was so charmed by her.
  10. David was born in 1968, and he married Renee who was old enough to be Tony's sister? Also, he's older than Hope, which makes him older than Bo, but probably around Roman's age who is the same age as Abe (on screen). I'm obviously not referencing the actor's real ages, because on soaps we've had teens being portrayed by 30-year-olds. So, I think I've done the math correctly because I don't count SORASing when characters stay in their late 20s forever.
  11. I feel dumb that I didn't make the connection between the Jan 6 committee talking about witness intimidation and the need for a previously unscheduled hearing with Cassidy Hutchinson. I thought she was there to ferret out the testimony of White Counsel Pat Cipollone. The committee wants him to speak, but he could have used the excuses of attorney/client privilege or executive privilege to recuse himself. However, I thought Hutchinson's testimony was being used to provoke Cipollone to try to refute her account of what happened on Jan 6. Now I see that they used her to demonstrate how Trumpworld is trying to intimidate witnesses and defer justice. Obviously, after today's reporting, the images of text sent about "him thinking about you" were sent to Hutchinson. While I find it distasteful that this young woman who worked for such political deviants as Ted Cruise and Mark Meadows is being hailed for bravery, I appreciate that she was willing to share the behind the scenes defiance of legal authority that continues in Trumpworld to this day. I just wonder why they didn't ask her directly about any messages that she's received from the former president's staff?
  12. There was some story potential for David within the plots of the last few years. First, he would've been 54 which makes him a contemporary of Abe and Tony. So, he could've been paired with Kate or Paulina. He also could have renewed his interest in Kayla or his antagonism toward Anna could have turned to romance. Second, when Sarah began to think she was Renee, he could've served that storyline And third, given his love of motorcycles he could've been a surrogate father for Ben. But, I never cared for David as much as I cared for Mike, or even Scotty, so I think the idea that his loss gave more time to Julie and allowed her to bond with Eli was a good choice.
  13. That's certainly been a creative road block at Y&R
  14. The two that get me are words that were repeated over and over in scripts, but used incorrectly. 1. GH - In 1999 Katherine Bell was pushed from the parapet, and throughout the plot they kept referring to a parapet but showing something else that looked like a balcony. This is a parapet. It is a roofline that is notched so that an army can defend a castle against intrusions. Even if Katherine was on the roof, one wouldn't refer to her as being pushed from the parapet because that is just the ornamental embellishment. I guess one could be pushed through a parapet, but not from a parapet. 2. On Y&R in 2007 Brad Carlton was caught up in a story about a stolen reliquary. This is a reliquary which is a container for relics but, given his Jewish heritage they may have actually been referring to an ark, which is where the torah is stored in a temple, yet it would be much more difficult to steal because they are usually huge (clearly written by someone who had never been inside a synagogue). Also of note, Indiana Jones was probably looking for raiders of a lost reliquary not a lost ark.
  15. Well, at least we know from his days as a necktie killer that Ben's experienced at tying knots...
  16. The Fox-ians will cite hear-say as if they are legal scholars, when in truth they don't know the difference between a congressional hearing and a courtroom. Mike Meadows really came off badly today, how many times did Hutchinson say that she entered his office and he was sitting on his couch scrolling through his phone? These guys make Haldeman and Ehrlichman look like Rhodes Scholars. Each hearing becomes more chilling, for me, today it was hearing her talk about how the White House knew that the Capitol Police were outnumbered and did nothing to help them for hours. I know the headlines will be about Trump throwing his lunch and lunging at secret service. However, the thought that they allowed capitol security to battle an armed mob without ever giving them any information or reinforcement is shameful.
  17. Doesn't it sound familiar to the story pitched to Kristen Alfonso prior to her resignation? As I recall, Hope was supposed to take some time off screen and then return with a mysterious government agent While she had been contemplating leaving for the past couple of years, her abrupt exit was triggered by a plan for her character, Hope Williams Brady, relayed to her by Days executive producer Ken Corday, which involved Hope being written off for 4-5 months before coming back to have a storyline with a Navy Seal. - Ken Corday in Deadline https://deadline.com/2020/07/kristian-alfonso-explans-days-of-our-lives-exit-reason-what-prompted-holly-how-will-she-be-written-off-1202988171/
  18. I have no interest in watching this, but I'm always happy to see when one of the DOOL Stefanie(s) have found work - she looks stunning in this photo, btw
  19. @Taoboi He's also in Man from Toronto on Netflix, for a bit longer than a blink-worth There was a story in Variety about these movies being dumped on Netflix with lots of stars (this one has Jamie Fox & Woody Harrelson) that would have bombed in theaters but are getting large viewing rates on streaming.
  20. Doesn't it seem as if we don't get a lot of Gabi? I'd be interested to see how many episodes she's appeared in June, compared to the prior year. I'm neither a fan nor a detractor, but she was poised to be the leading lady. I know she recently had a love scene with Li. But, she and Jake are not a supercouple, she's not involved in the Abigail's murder (despite their history), and it doesn't look like she's going to a rebound for Chad. I wonder what's up?
  21. I would add that what's even more illogical is that he's plotting against all of these people for ruining his wedding while they're still letting him enjoy the lifestyle of the Dimera Mansion and he seems to have no need to earn an income. Craig couldn't have given him all that while working for a university hospital.
  22. I think they've both been pretty clear that the "something" was money (or the lack there of) and respect with regard to storytelling in relation to their tenure on their shows.
  23. I caught up with DAYS and Y&R today while avoiding cleaning out the dishwasher. Does Newman Industries no longer manufacture cosmetics? They seem to have gone from a management conglomerate to a single industry focused family company. I guess a media company can be headquartered anywhere in 2002, but am I correct that Newman, Chancellor, and now Victoria's company all producing online content? That seems written by a person who hasn't listened to podcasts or watched YouTube in the past year.
  24. I watched some episodes for the first time in a long time today. It confirmed my main criticism of the writer's approach to mystery stories, There is a consistent pattern where the mystery starts with a shocker, but then there are no characters on screen working to solve the crime. Lani is busy with family stuff, Shawn seems to be on paternity leave because he hasn't left the hospital, and so there's no character to work as the audience point of view to gather clues. Instead it's a lot of red herrings about jewels and blackouts that we all know will not play a part in the final solution to the crime? Also, while I get that Abby was married to a Dimera, did we ever see her wearing expensive jewels? She doesn't seem like the type who would have collected the type of ugly stuff that Leo was trying to sell thru Clyde this week.
  25. Here's an optimistic take for when a show attracted 300,000 less viewers than it did two years ago and only 2 out of 1000 viewers in the 18-39 demo watched it. In the latest TV show ratings, CBSโ€™ two-hour presentation of the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards averaged 2.8 million total viewers, up 10 percent in audience from last yearโ€™s ceremony yet shy of the tally for 2019โ€™s very virtual telecast (3.1 mil). In the demo, the Daytime Emmys matched last yearโ€™s 0.2 rating. https://tvline.com/2022/06/25/tv-ratings-daytime-emmy-awards-cbs/ According to Wikipedia the 2012 show on HLN got approximately the same number of viewers at 2 million, 2002 got 10.1 million on CBS, 1992 got 20 million viewers on NBC. So, some quick math tells me that is a 85% loss of viewers over 30 years. By contrast the Primetime Emmys have lost 60% of their audience over 30 years. The Grammy's and Tony's are down 30%, but the annual numbers fluctuate widely. And the Oscars are down 67% over the same time period.
