^ I get what you are saying Carl. In most cases I cringe at ad hominem attacks. There are just as many ugly Democrats as Republicans, and hell, I won't be winning any beauty contests myself. We've talked about how some attack old people and wish them death, as if there aren't plenty of wonderful old people out there. In the context of a comedy routine though, I don't think what she said was that bad. I also agree that MW knew what she was doing. She has a show coming our on Netflix according to a CNN article. She went for her 15 mins of fame and got it. As you say, there are bigger fish to fry.

^ I don't even see why what Michelle Wolf (who I've never heard of before) said is a big deal? Don't we mostly agree that SHS is out there spouting surreal lies and propaganda on a daily basis? She reminds me of that spokesperson for Saddam's government. The one SNL used to love to mock, who was saying things like the Iraqi army was winning, while CNN was showing footage of decimation. Well, now the joke is on us ( or US). https://www.google.com/search?q=iraqi+propaganda+minister&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

It absolutely is clickbait, but that doesn't make it wrong 45 has been polling at about a 40% approval rating for months. Given the things he's done and said, I find that horrifying. A good portion of the population seems to be in denial about the Russia investigation. But then who am I to talk? I probably need one of those little shock devices smokers used back in the day. Every time I start to be surprised that Trump has so many followers I need to shock myself out of denial.

Even though I said this a few days ago, it still blows my mind. I just can't fully accept it.- The Politics Thread

And it was because he seemed like an honest guy. What?! Sometimes I wonder if I'm the crazy one. I just cannot wrap my mind around these folks think and there are millions of them. This is contemptible. So much of what the Trump administration does is disgusting, but this is just needless evil.- The Politics Thread
It's pretty clear she detests 45. I don't feel that sorry for her though. The only time I did was when I saw pictures of her with baby Barron. She looked so light and happy. What can I say, I hope the deal with the devil was worth it.- Allison Mack arrested (Smallville)
Maybe. It's even weirder to think that Kristen Kreuk is the one that recruited Allison. That set must have been nutty. When I look back it seemed like a lot of people wanted out. Look at the guy who played Lex. Maybe they all had other reasons. I can't help wondering if this played a part though. Pretty sure this show will never see a reboot with original cast members.- The Politics Thread

So 45 is on tack to spend 1/10th of a billion dollars on golf trips by the end of his first term . http://trumpgolfcount.com/ This is a national shame.- Your daily (or nightly) thought
This is sad. Elder abuse is rampant and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse as our population ages.- The Politics Thread
Yeah, he's an ass. She wasn't perfect, but who among us is? I'm very glad that no one cared enough to record my every word and deed for the last 44 years. Makes it a lot easier to live those worst moments down.- The Politics Thread
Let's say this isn't true. That his approval rating is 35%. That means over 1/3 of our population is ok with this administration. So much about American mythology (pull yourself up by your boot straps, the rugged individual, upward social mobility) is self defeating. It gives us an excuse not to teach our children how to live in a pluralistic society from a young age. At least in the short term we are screwed, imho. The even bigger question is what does the state of the world say about our species overall? It seems to me we are a petty, tribal lot that will be lucky if we don't destroy ourselves.- The Politics Thread
^ That's for sure. It didn't change anything the first time, why would it this time? This is another case of Trump having no idea of what he's doing. This isn’t the first time Trump has responded to the use of chemical weapons in Syria. He ordered a similar strike almost exactly a year ago in response to a regime-ordered chemical weapons attack in rebel-held northern Syria. The United States shot 59 Tomahawk missiles at the al-Shayrat airbase, where Assad had launched the chemical attack on April 4, 2017, that killed more than 80 people. https://www.vox.com/2018/4/13/17221420/trump-syria-attack-strike-assad-russia-response-chemical-weapon- The Politics Thread
That's what I'm talking about. The IDF is on the Israeli/Syrian boarder expecting an attack from there. They've been on high alert since they made there own strike on Syria a week or so ago.- The Politics Thread
I think Hezbollah could certainly attack Israel because of this. I saw pictures last night of the IDF on their boarder basically waiting for it. I also always assume that attacks like this will lead to more terrorism. I just don't think Russia is going to directly attack the USA militarily because of Syria. It's not like this is even the first time this has happened. Didn't this entire scenario play out about a year ago? We just keep making the same mistakes over and over. Oh, and it looks like we've taken 34 Syrian refugees in the first fiscal quarter of 2018. That's a recipe for making friends. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jan/26/trump-administration-refugees-resettlement - The Politics Thread
