  1. He may be a little drunk on the power that comes with having so many followers, but I think he's giving good analysis. I think it's good that Britain and France were also involved in the strikes. I see that Russia has threaten to retaliate. Probably cyber attacks, I don't think they want to bring on a world war. Putin seems craftier than that. I hope.
  2. Yeah, I agree. I used the word interesting to describe the article for that reason. It had some information I found interesting, but I thought the person who wrote it was kind of a jerk. I think the idea that liberals lean toward escapist shows might be true. I certainly do. I'm also not that interested in comedy overall, but i watched them as a kid, so the reboots can get me interested if they are good. It annoyed me that they tried to valid spanking as a good parenting choice. Is there even one valid study that shows it to be anything other than harmful? At the same time there is a huge number of people in this country that considerate a valid option. While I don't like it, it's the reality, and it's the type of issue you don't see all that often on TV. At least I don't.
  3. Well, I hope she'll be ok.
  4. I think he's right, but I pray he isn't.
  5. Thankfully, but it was close. I follow one of the writers (Mike Royce) on twitter and he said they had reason to worry it wouldn't be renewed. I think those of us that like it are probably lucky that Netflix is trying to build an inventory and the show got a ton of positive press.
  6. https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/10/opinions/roseanne-exposes-liberal-hypocrisy-richard-morgan-opinion/index.html This is an interesting article. I didn't realize that shows like ODAAT and Blackish have such a small viewership. That's too bad because I really like ODAAT. I would argue that Roseanne's appeal is class. We don't see blue collar families that often. Roseanne is also a little more gritty than a show like ODAAT. Roseanne has never idealized parenthood like some shows do. I agree that Roseanne herself is a little stiff. I've been watching some of the season one episodes and I loved the way she would always laugh or smile with the other characters. 30 years is a long time though. I don't expect her to pick up where she dropped off.
  7. I agree. I keep seeing articles like this, which I find a little scary. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/09/the-gop-tax-plan-means-short-term-gains-for-the-economy-but-federal-debt-is-primed-to-explode-cbo-analysis-says.html
  8. Well, I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but things are looking up.
  9. It should be clear to everyone by now that we only bring chaos when we try to intervene in these types of wars. How many more countries do we have to help destroy before we stop for good? Part of the problem is that as a whole we are removed from the pain. We just bomb the f*ck out of these places and it doesn't seem real to most of us on the home front.
  10. I agree that things are as serious as this. We face tremendous debt thanks to that insane tax plan. We have a ruler who is completely corrupt and after nothing except his own gain. A Congress that sees how dangerous and criminal he is, but won't act. I do believe Mueller will come through sometime in 2019 if he isn't fired or obstructed. Still, every day Trump and his ilk are in charge the danger to our freedom increases. Even if it's not our actual sovereignty as a nation at stake (and it may be), what good is keeping it if we are some fascist state?
  11. ^ That's what I want to believe. I'll feel a lot more sure of it if Democrats take The House. As it stands, it seems like no matter what Trump does the Republicans will back him and he won't face the consequences.
  12. Damn.
  13. Yes. In so many ways. Cohen should have known better. I understand that the fabulously wealthy are going to do shady things, but using your lawyer as your fixer and then going into politics seems incredibly foolish. Some think Mueller has Trump's taxes because of this raid. We'll see. This goes for Kushner too. Why break the law and then seek attention by going into public "service"? Be happy with your fabulous wealth, break the law and stay out of the lime light!
  14. ^ This is great news!
  15. The Saudis I bet. Honestly the corruption in this administration is endless. This is a long thread and worth reading if you have the stomach for it.
  16. Looks more like a piece POS to me.
  17. Unbelievable.
  18. This seems pretty awful. And this. Not that it's the first time he's advocated for committing war crimes.
  19. I hope he goes down for treason along with the rest of the criminals in this administration.
  20. ^ I think the way they framed the "caravan" is the issue. It seems to me it was a group of scared migrants banding together for safety. Maybe there were some organizers involved hoping to get some positive attention. Trump and his ilk called it an "invasion" to scare people. It's sad how susceptible people are to these manipulations. As for Squawk Box I like Andre Ross Sorkin. He's mostly a good guy, although Joe tends to run over him at times. I remember when I even liked Joe, but he's become the kind of bitter rich white guy that really rankles me.
  21. How old is the kid? I'm just curious. I don't think I had any sense of "liking" boys until I was 10 or so. Could be different for others obviously. With my children I figure they are blank slates until they tell me/show me who they are.
  22. ^ OK, well, that's pretty funny at least.
  23. That's what bothered me a little. I wish they had at least showed me that Roseanne loves Harris first. Oh well, it's not that big a deal. I think the points they were trying to make about different parenting styles came through. I agreed with Roseanne that you can't really be your teenagers trusting friend. I also agree with Darlene that you shouldn't beat them. A little dunk under the facet never hurt anyone though. Overall, I didn't think this episode was as funny as the first two. Dan had a couple of good lines though. When he was doing the race call between Roseanne and the chair and then said something like "and Death Wish comes from behind to win by a neck" referring to Harris. I don't recall the original show as well as some of you, but it seemed a little more optimistic. Like these were struggling people, but they weren't totally f*cked and maybe things would get better. I had stopped watching before the lottery win. Not sure if that was my child's eye or how it really was. This time things feel a little darker. I'm not saying that's bad.
  24. I didn't care for this either. These people live in the state. Did Darlene never bring her kids to visit when they were little? It just seems like the Roseanne/Harris relationship lacked the underlying affection that should be there. Yes, she was being disrespectful, but having a parent or grandparent call a teenage girl a bitch is so distasteful to me. It's also not exactly modeling respect either. I thought the water thing was good and Harris did deserve that.
