  1. Oh yeah. I remember her national anthem. Twitter is not the friend of the Roseanne and Trump's of the world. Or hell, maybe it is in a way. That's the dark side of social media.
  2. I think there has to be a middle ground. The show itself hits that target for me. The way Roseanne and Dan reacted to Mark wasn't politically correct. On many shows, they would immediately be the bad guys for not getting him right away. They weren't politically correct on surrogacy either, but I think a lot of people relate to how they see it. Real Roseanne is someone I've written off in a sense. I think she deserves compassion for what she's been through, but I can't take her seriously. I also think it's unfortunate that she has the twitter megaphone that she does.
  3. I made the mistake of reading the Roseanne hashtag on twitter. It amazes me how many people saw that episode as Pro Trump. What? The Connor's can't afford their medicine. They are worse off than ever and so are their children. Then Roseanne sticking up for Mark and affirming Becky's right to choose. How anyone really got conservative out of any of that I don't know. Roseanne looks like a fool for voting for Trump. I didn't realize how off the wall real Roseanne is either. I knew some of it, but I didn't know she was spreading the Pizzagate thing, attacking the Parkland kids and such. It won't stop me from watching the show, but it is ugly.
  4. This seems so naive to me. This guy seems really on top of the Russia probe, but I don't know how anyone is sure that justice or democracy will prevail.
  5. Finding out that she had a traumatic brain injury explains so much to me . I think we could argue that she has a certain genius, but she is quite erratic. I had become pretty hardened when it comes to Trump voters. Not sure how I feel about letting Roseanne soften me up, but I can deny that she does just a little bit. Overall, I think the show was pretty balanced. It's not everyday you see an older couple on TV trying to figure out how divvy up their pills, but there are a lot of people who have to do that. I think it's good to see that reality.
  6. I thought it was good, better than I expected for sure. It was nice to see people talking about some of the political issues of the day in a way that felt natural to these characters. It felt right to me that Dan and Roseanne both wondered why Mark would make his life harder just to dress a certain way. These are older people who life has kicked around, so of course that wouldn't make sense to them. It was nice that they accepted it though. I agree that Sara Gilbert is a bright spot. It's hard to see Darlene so beaten down by life, but it rings true. When Mark told her no one played with him her reaction was perfect. You could see it cut her to the bone, but she rallied to make him feel better. Becky's story line is silly. I won't bother to pick it apart, but it had me rolling my eyes. If they want to show us that Roseanne is pro choice than just have Becky, Darlene or Harrison in need of an abortion. Jackie showing up in that p*ssy hat.
  7. I knew the NE was despicable, but tracking down an adopted child and then blackmail? That is really nasty.
  8. I was reading Roseanne's wiki and saw this: At 16, Barr was hit by a car; the incident left her with a traumatic brain injury.[7] Her behavior changed so radically that she was institutionalized for eight months at Utah State Hospital.[9] While institutionalized she had a baby, which she placed through adoption.[10] I had no idea she went through that. How awful. I expect the show to be good. I look forward to it.
  9. I believe her.
  10. Rick Santorum doing the Sunday shows saying that instead of asking other people to solve their problems high school kids should be taking CPR classes. What a [!@#$%^&*] idiot. I wish Ana Navarro had been in that segment.
  11. Wouldn't they be right?
  12. I figure this will not hold water, but still, he's a jerk for doing it.
  13. I've never heard of him until the last couple of days. I just saw Nick Kristoff on CNN saying our chances of war went up significantly. Lord help us.
  14. This is sad news.
  15. This is the first I've heard of it. Hopefully, they catch the person soon.
  16. I've seen people say that maybe Junior and his wife are trying to hide/preserve assets. Not sure I buy that, but it'll be interesting to see how this divorce shakes out. I didn't read past the headline. I knew it would piss me off too much.
  17. This thread. My God, we are truly on the verge of having concentration camps.
  18. The treatment of people who are involved in terrorism is probably an area where I'm less liberal, but gods below. No one involved in this kind of extreme torture should be in a position of power. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2018/03/gina-haspel-black-site-torture-cia/555539/?utm_source=poltw
  19. Both of these stories are chilling. I guess the first one is worse because it's happened/happening. The second one is deeply disturbing because it shows us Trump's murderous goals. I don't believe he can get it done, but the sooner he is out of office the better.
  20. http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/378608-dem-enters-maine-race-against-gop-state-candidate-who-called-parkland This makes me happy. That candidate who called one of the Parkland student's a "skinhead lesbian" is no longer running unopposed.
  21. I wonder how many of them there really are? I see polls saying it's about 20%, which is horrifying. Yet I suspect at least 5% are lying and the real number is 25%. I guess we'll never really know. I just hope the blue wave is real, so at least we can staunch the damage staring in January.
