  1. I guess if some of the seats that have turned blue recently could change anyone can. Still, I am not hopeful that the deep red states will change. That being they case it seems only fair they share the pain. Even though I live in Nebraska, I don't much care. Many people in the rural part of this state care more about controlling female bodies than they do about their own economic welfare, so let them feel the pain that priority brings. This is so reckless on trumps part. While I certainly have no love for a man who hoards 32 billion and counting, while people all over the world die of hunger, my money is on Bezos.
  2. Looks like Allison Mack married Nicki Clyne (Battlestar Galatica) potentially to avoid legal consequences. I always wondered why Cally was written off so abruptly. Also Grace Park is in this cult. Unbelievable. https://blindgossip.com/?p=90956#more-90956 https://artvoice.com/2017/11/21/nicki-clyne-quit-acting-broke-contract-battlestar-galatica-producers-join-nxivm-mission-full-time/#.WsQHDqNzK1s
  3. Yeah. I always thought it was being overweight and having to deal with the lighting and all that, but it was obviously more. This is an interesting article by Roseanne. It's old, but it touches on her mental illness. http://nymag.com/arts/tv/upfronts/2011/roseanne-barr-2011-5/
  4. Sure, but I'm not talking about policy I disagree with. Every Republican in the last 44 years has supported policy I disagree with. I'm talking about attacking the courts, the press and pretty much every institution and norm that makes this a democracy, including the voting process. Then we have the sheer amount of unabashed corruption and chaos he has brought down on us. ETA: Oh, I forgot calling the Nazi's very nice people and empowering their movement, so that nearly half our country is in more danger than ever.
  5. Yes, but maybe we can hope that Trump has mobilized enough people on the left and in the center so that we can get him out. Maybe as Marceline mentioned the other day, some people in the right will stay home because they aren't on board, even if they don't vote democrat. I agree in a way. One the one hand I think Trump wants to be a dictator and he's eroding democratic institutions in a way someone like Kasich or Romney wouldn't have. On the other hand 40% of Americans approve of Trump. It's hard to wrap my mind around that and I'm sure it feels like a terrible betrayal to many people in our country (because it is one).
  6. OMG. This is really scary and disturbing. One of the anchors in that picture is Liz Bishop the anchor from the upstate NY region where I grew up. I bet she hates having to do that. I guess she could quit she must be close to retirement, but that still sucks. We will be very lucky if we get anything approaching free and fair elections in November. He may not be playing three dimensional (or is it six dimensional? Whatever the hell the saying is) chess, but he is trying to distract people from the real issues. With the media it works more than it should. In some cases as the one Carl mentioned owners are actively colluding.
  7. That's not really true. There are lines you can't cross as Laura Ingraham is finding out right now. If Roseanne crosses it and starts becoming a liability, they will drop her like a hot potato. My fingers are crossed that she will not make that mistake. Leaving the Parkland kids alone would be a good start. Not that I think she can stick to this, but I'm guessing ABC has already told her to watch it.
  8. What?? Wow. I assumed it was the other way around. Now Mack is apparently second in command. This is such a crazy story. I guess they have Mack on video chasing after the car when the leader was arrested. Looks like she's next to be arrested. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/albany/2018/03/nxivm_cult_keith_raniere_allison_mack_smallville.html "Frank Parlato, who's frequently written about NXIVM based on interviews with former members for The Frank Report, says DOS works on a master-slave hierarchy with Raniere at the top followed by Mack. Other members also reportedly include former "Dallas" star Catherine Oxenberg's daughter India Oxenberg, wealthy Seagram's heiresses Sara and Clare Bronfman, and "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" star Kristin Kreuk. " Apparently the cult leader took millions from the Seagram's heiresses. What a nightmare. I also feel bad for Catherine Oxenberg. I remember reading awhile back about how she's tried to get her daughter out.
  9. Good lord. It looks like Allison Mack might finally get arrested for her part in a sex cult. https://www.yahoo.com/news/apos-smallville-apos-actresses-allison-185619122.html What I didn't realize is that Kristen Kreuk was part of it too. At least it looks like she wasn't as involved in the hierarchy as Allison. http://people.com/human-interest/kristin-kreuk-denies-sex-slave-nxivm-keith-raniere/
  10. Yeah, especially since Dan called the pain medicine "sunshine".
  11. Maybe, but I figured it would be Dan or Roseanne given the first episode. I loved that show's theme song.
  12. ^ Yeah, the people there know who she is and they made the choice to come back. Plus Roseanne does have charisma. I'm sure there is some line she could cross that would make ABC pull the plug completely, but I hope it doesn't happen. It wouldn't be the same show without her.
  13. Oh yeah. I remember her national anthem. Twitter is not the friend of the Roseanne and Trump's of the world. Or hell, maybe it is in a way. That's the dark side of social media.
  14. I think there has to be a middle ground. The show itself hits that target for me. The way Roseanne and Dan reacted to Mark wasn't politically correct. On many shows, they would immediately be the bad guys for not getting him right away. They weren't politically correct on surrogacy either, but I think a lot of people relate to how they see it. Real Roseanne is someone I've written off in a sense. I think she deserves compassion for what she's been through, but I can't take her seriously. I also think it's unfortunate that she has the twitter megaphone that she does.
  15. I made the mistake of reading the Roseanne hashtag on twitter. It amazes me how many people saw that episode as Pro Trump. What? The Connor's can't afford their medicine. They are worse off than ever and so are their children. Then Roseanne sticking up for Mark and affirming Becky's right to choose. How anyone really got conservative out of any of that I don't know. Roseanne looks like a fool for voting for Trump. I didn't realize how off the wall real Roseanne is either. I knew some of it, but I didn't know she was spreading the Pizzagate thing, attacking the Parkland kids and such. It won't stop me from watching the show, but it is ugly.
  16. This seems so naive to me. This guy seems really on top of the Russia probe, but I don't know how anyone is sure that justice or democracy will prevail.
  17. Finding out that she had a traumatic brain injury explains so much to me . I think we could argue that she has a certain genius, but she is quite erratic. I had become pretty hardened when it comes to Trump voters. Not sure how I feel about letting Roseanne soften me up, but I can deny that she does just a little bit. Overall, I think the show was pretty balanced. It's not everyday you see an older couple on TV trying to figure out how divvy up their pills, but there are a lot of people who have to do that. I think it's good to see that reality.
  18. I thought it was good, better than I expected for sure. It was nice to see people talking about some of the political issues of the day in a way that felt natural to these characters. It felt right to me that Dan and Roseanne both wondered why Mark would make his life harder just to dress a certain way. These are older people who life has kicked around, so of course that wouldn't make sense to them. It was nice that they accepted it though. I agree that Sara Gilbert is a bright spot. It's hard to see Darlene so beaten down by life, but it rings true. When Mark told her no one played with him her reaction was perfect. You could see it cut her to the bone, but she rallied to make him feel better. Becky's story line is silly. I won't bother to pick it apart, but it had me rolling my eyes. If they want to show us that Roseanne is pro choice than just have Becky, Darlene or Harrison in need of an abortion. Jackie showing up in that p*ssy hat.
  19. I knew the NE was despicable, but tracking down an adopted child and then blackmail? That is really nasty.
  20. I was reading Roseanne's wiki and saw this: At 16, Barr was hit by a car; the incident left her with a traumatic brain injury.[7] Her behavior changed so radically that she was institutionalized for eight months at Utah State Hospital.[9] While institutionalized she had a baby, which she placed through adoption.[10] I had no idea she went through that. How awful. I expect the show to be good. I look forward to it.
  21. I believe her.
  22. Rick Santorum doing the Sunday shows saying that instead of asking other people to solve their problems high school kids should be taking CPR classes. What a [!@#$%^&*] idiot. I wish Ana Navarro had been in that segment.
  23. Wouldn't they be right?
