As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I'd like to know about why Lisa/Bob/Kim weren't in any cut scenes either. That's why I don't buy it. How sad if Goutman felt that Craig learning "forgiveness" from Lily, or Parker/Faith as the new Carly/Jack (why do they have to be the new anyone? How stupid), were more important than the legends. Thank you for info on the actor who played Glenn's brother. I remember reading that John Conboy bragged he would have Durham shirtless for an entire summer. Making my way through the 1989 episodes, he seemed to be around for at least 3-4 months. He got involved with Shannon after his brother's death, and then through her discovery that she was pregnant with Glenn's child. Other than some lovely melancholic performances from Margaret Reed (I think this was her best talent - it's too bad the show only made her angry and bitter when she returned), this seems like kind of a pointless story, as Duncan/Shannon had already been separated for so long by this point that you start to wonder why they would ever get back together at all. This was also when they were making Duncan's castle into the Earl Mitchell Center. You said you were a Kirk/Iva fan, right? I still wonder sometimes why the show gave up on that, although I did like Kirk/Ellie. There's this heartbreaking little moment at the latter's wedding where Iva flashes back to dancing with Kirk. I miss that type of thing on soaps, that poignancy.

ALL: They Almost Became
That's why I can't get into who should play her and who would be so wonderful and so on. No one will. They could cast Marsha Warfield as Victoria and you'd still have the same crap.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
I looked in the Hollyoaks companion from 2000 but didn't see anything on Tom or Kevin. There isn't much on Mrs. Cunningham's sleazy fiance either. Apparently they got married and then she found a lump in her breast. Nothing else that. There is a great little book called Stolen E-mails where he (I think it's him) reroutes various e-mails to people to cause them problems and gets more and more caught up in it. Tony met and fell in love with Julie in the first episode. Jude went on to become a very damaged character. I wish we could see this. Supposedly Bryan Kirkwood was thisclose to getting Davinia Taylor (who became sort of a pseudo-celebrity after Hollyoaks) back for Max's wedding to Clare, but it didn't happen. Dawn seems like a likeable version of the Mary Sue type, sweet, but not too much of a pushover. I like that both sisters wanted the creep out and didn't feel bad about it. The guy playing the creepy stepfather to be (who had perved on Dawn when she lived at home) is now the boring as hell Owen on Corrie. It was nice to see the Ibiza stuff, it was so much fun, just lighthearted and entertaining, yet not too stupid or condescending "comedy" like you often get now. The guys are so believable as friends. Tony is so sweet here. I wish the character still had some of that. I've only ever actually seen Lewis in a few clips from a late night special, which, other than telling me he had a fantastic ass, were of little other use. It's weird seeing him here as just an ordinary guy.

Thanks. I'd like to see that. It's the spirit of that era, I guess - A World Apart also ended with a musical performance.

ALL: They Almost Became
At first I thought you meant Reid who was on ATWT last year! I'm glad they never had Maggie and Lyla fight over a man. Then again I guess Anne Sward might have enjoyed having some sort of story. Roya as Felicia would have been dynamite. She had such an exotic look. Who was Stephanie?

Bright Promise
June 1972 Daytime TV talks a bit about what the cast did after cancelation, and they say that in the last few weeks, Diane Herbert and Annette Davis joined the cast. Do you know anything about them?

The Politics Thread
It looks like Scott Walker and the WIGOP's power grab cost them the Milwaukee County Executive's office, and also, very possibly, a state supreme court seat. http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/119308059.html And of course, the governor uses the same class warfare stuff we know so well. http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/walker-blames-madison-for-supreme-court-election.php?ref=fpblg

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I would like Yusef more if there weren't frequent reminders of how wicked he is supposed to be - the black outfits, the schemes, the cutaways to him looking superior. I wish we saw more of a softer side, as we did when he was talking to Afia before the engagement party. At the time of the Chryed reveal I was very annoyed that the show stacked the deck by making Masood and Zainab so hostile, and for some reason they have continued to pile this on with Masood. They have taken away what made him popular in the first place and now he is this miserable and weak man. Zainab I still love because she still gets some warm and human moments, like her scene with Afia. I'm still not entirely sure about where they've gone with Tamwar. It wasn't too long ago he was just the kid brother caught in the middle of a family war, and now he's having sex in Syed's bed! At first this story was just plot plot plot but in the past few weeks they've finally started showing more of their different personalities and how they mix - like that awkward scene where she wanted to dance and he didn't but he got into it for her. I loved the scene where Syed and Masood looked at each other in the pouring rain. This was the first time I've ever felt sympathy for Syed, even if I don't know why he brought Christian with him. Christian looked his most attractive with the stubble. I'm glad to see Pat back but wish we'd seen her conversation with Carol. The show never lets us see them interact. The scene with Janine was sort of been there, done that, as was the stuff with Janine and her grandmother, although this does have potential. Tanya is so smug all the time. I wish Ian had blasted her. Heather's love storyline is just pointless and pathetic...like her.
